    Is this normal?

Bloated and change in stool color warrants a call into the office. Tired I can understand. Constipated; maybe not enough Water or exercise. But the other 2 symptoms... I'm a nurse. I'd advise a call in.
  2. I had face lift, brachioplasty, tummy tuck, inner thigh lift, circumfrential body lift and breast lift. All cash; happy with all of it. YES to psychological lift. But do realize you trade the deflated skin for lots of scars. I prefer the scars. Get several consults; go for the free ones. Pick a Dr. you trust and who seems passionate.

    Dumping Syndrome

Worst thing I ever dumped on was a BANANA!!! It's not predictable who will get it when and/or with what. You just learn as you go along.

    What's your comfort food?

It's just for now. There will be a time you'll be able to eat a small portion of your old favortes.
  5. Glad to help. If you want to talk more email me; rtempes@cfl.rr.com I have lots of before and after. And don't forget that most of us do regain at least some weight. So , it really is a life long project. But we're worth all the effort we put into ourseles.
  6. BTW; don't know what state you're in; but if it's Fl., I can recommend a GREAT plastic guy!! No PAs or NPs; he does it all from first visit to each and every follow up. HIGHLY recommend. Let me know.
  7. GOOD for you! I am 63 y/o. RNY 9/03 and lost 108 lb. Was stupid and put back about 70 so had a revision 10/08. Starting in 2010, had face lift, bracioplasty, tummy tuck, inner thigh lift, and circumfrential body lift. The most wt. I lost was from the inner thigh lift and that was about 8 lbs. Don't recall ANY significant change with TT, wt. wise. But 63 or not; it makes a huge difference in the way the body looks and the way I feel; like I'm in my 40s again!! Do know that the scars are the consequense and at our age, they won't fade as much as with young folks. That's the pay back. For me, it was worth it. And if you're healthy the anesthesia shouldn't be that big a factor. Keep up with you vitamins/minerals/water and some exercise to avoid any blood clots. Good luck. Hope this helps.

    Trouble with the pipes

Water and walk. Don't obsess. If it causes PAIN, then your MD can recommend something.

    Help!

Any blood from the rectum is not "nothing". Bright red could be hemorrhoids. Are you straining to go? DARK stool could be bleed higher up in the ailmentary canal. Neither is ok and either should be explored further. Re. waiting between food and water; yes, for now it's a good idea. You want to fill your pouch with food. There's not alot of room right now and if you fill it with Fluid, it would be hard to get the nutrition you need. Re. the pain; That will get better. Walking may actually help if it's a build up of gas. But the pain with the bleeding needs to be investigated. Give up a follow up.

    Bypass vs. Sleeve

They do something that MAKES YOU HUNGRY???? REALLY??? no! Don't know where you got that information.

    Feel like dying!

My surgeon had me on liquids only the first 2 weeks. When food was allowed, it was 1/2 egg and a bite of toast. What staples did you have removed? Did they do your surgery open? And BTW, the nurse is the one who sounds like an idiot. You should be starving yourself the first 2 weeks. We have plenty to live off of. Honestly, when I read some of these comments about certain groups and nurses, I am SO grateful for my surgeon and the program he runs. Talk to the DR. Maybe the nurse is confused. Good luck.

    Bypass vs. Sleeve

I had RNY bypass in 2003. I believe it's better than the sleeve. Hunger; never was an issue except for what I want to eat; not that I felt hungry. Vitamins; never a problem. hair loss; just having surgery will do that; and it grows back. No regrets here and glad the sleeve wasn't popular back then. I don't see the benefit of the sleeve over bypass. And look how man sleeves are revised, especially in your BMI range. Good luck with however you go!

    Vitamin nightmare

WLS Vitamins. My surgeon sells them; vitamins, Calcium, Iron, B12, Vitamin D and a bunch of other options. wlsvitamins.com. I've been on them since 2003 and my labs are always great. Prices are reasonable.
  14. Yes. I'm 13 yrs out of original; and 8 yrs out of revision. I had bad pains and vomitting almost 2 yrs. and finally in 10/15, had surgery again. Everything had come up above my diaphragm. Dr. had to dissect esophagus, put pouch and everything else back under the diaphragm and tack it in place. Esentially, repair hiatl hernia. About 6 weeks post op, had JUST what you explained. Would have gone to hosp. but literally could not move. Do believe it was r/t over eating. Mine resolved after about an hour. Relayed to surgeon later and he thought it probably was d/t over eating. Maybe you have a worsening hiatal hernia?? Please keep us informed under same topic title. I wish you well. I know the fear and pain!!! Still, for anybody reading; YES it was worth having the surgery done!! Good luck.

    Saggy Arms

The sad truth is it's a trade off. Weight loss for saggy skin. If you're young, the skin my retract a bit. If you're older and/or you've been up and down with your weight, you're out of luck and surgery will be your only option to rid yourself of the batwings; or udders as you put it. So, you either have FAT arms, hanging skin or surgery and scars. But don't forget that the bottom line is you are thinner and more healthy! Way to go.
  16. As an UGI can show a stricture it's a good idea. It's less invasive and less expensive than an endoscopy and the radiation is not that much. BTW: I work in imaging. Start with the X-ray!
  17. Seems like a no brainer. DO IT.
  18. Try it again in a few months; things change over time. Also, try just 1/2.
  19. I get asolutely ill from eating a banana. It's one of the few things I dump on.
  20. Carnie Wilson; she might respond.

    Gain 7lbs this week.

Could be muscle mass, if you've been exercising. Looking at your 99 lb loss, I wouldn't worry too much! Great job.
  22. This isn't that unusual. It's easily addressed. And if it's just the anastomosis that has to be "revised", it shouldn't be so bad. Yes, it's another procedure, but it will all be worth it. Meanwhile, keep taking frequent, small sips of Water or suck on a sugar free popsicle; whatever it takes to get the fluids in. There'll be time for work once you get your health and stamina back. And isn't it a great thing you're doing for yourself and your family!
  23. Isn'tit amazing that any of us dispair over losing "just" 2-3 lbs. per week!!! It does slow over time. Be prepared for that. Embrace your "honeymoon" period, and just think back to when losing 2-3 lbs. AT ALL was a victory!!! Hope you all make it through Halloween! That's MY challenge!
  24. Believe me; I get it. I am an IDIOT and some times weigh in multiple times a day. So I'm not preaching; just sharing things that might help. Hell, I want to take credit for a good s*&t!!
