    Dilated/stretched Pouch...:(

so sorry you are dealing with this.. I always get my fills done under fluoroscope so they can see whats going on with my band.. I had been told the same thing in September and at that time I actually was going on a long trip and had signs that I was actually overfilled.. In September I opted to take out all of my liquid out of the band and had every intention of going back and having everything checked out and seeing the dr.. well things happened and I didnt.. then I started gaining a little weight.. since September I gained about 20 pounds or so and with the weight gain I was afraid of going back quite honestly.. I was afraid of what they would tell me and was afraid that I would have to go back in and have surgery.. Well I finally bit the bullet and went back last week... my band has gone back pretty much to where it needed to be and I dont need to have any corrections.. I was able to get 3 cc's in my band and Im excited to be back on track.. Ive had enough of a scare to do what they tell me to I cant imagine 30 days either, but you can do it!! Keep your chin up.. just think how you'll feel at the end of those 30 days when you get the thumbs up..

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Hello all! Not sure if I've ever posted on here or not.. but hoping I can join in.. I was banded on March 17th of this year and today is my 5 month bandiversary!! I am down 50 pounds and soooo happy right now.. I started at size 22/24 and am now down to an 18 and can fit into some 16's.. My tshirt size was 2x and I am now down to XL... Im half way to my goal and am looking forward to the next 50 pounds..
  3. I go for 2nd fill today.. My insurance company pays for them but not at the location I go.. They called me yesterday and said that it would be $150 which is fine with me as Id have to drive to their other location and its too inconvenient..
  4. I was banded 03/17/08 and currently down a little over 30 lbs.. NO regrets!!!

    How much??

I remember for about the first 4 days I could hardly even drink without being so full.. I literally had to make myself drink and at the end of the day I might have gotten 1/4 of a bottle of Water down.. I was afraid I was going to dehydrate but about 4 days out I was able to start drinking more.. I was shocked that I had absolutely no appetite
  6. It has been 2 months today since I was banded.. I have lost approx 30-32 pounds so far.. I am now into an XL or 1X depending on brand.. I finally went and bought some clothes this weekend as my clothes are so big on me.. Today for the first time a coworker walked up to me and asked me if I was on Weight Watchers and said that she could tell Ive lost weight.. Especially in my face.. There have been several others such as family and one of my friends that has said the same thing but to have someone come up to me and ask that had no idea I was banded and ask this same question is such a wonderful feeling! I go for my 2nd fill on Wednesday.. Im so looking forward to continue losing..
  7. I was banded March 17th, 2008 and Im down 25 pounds.. So happy.. I had to go out today and buy a few pairs of pants.. down 1 size.. woohoo
  8. I felt the same way you do my first week.. I was hurting and I was asking myself if I did the right thing by having the surgery... but I am now almost 5 weeks out and I can tell you I definitely did the right thing.. By next week you will be feeling better.. it seems each day you feel better and better.. I am about 25 pounds down and sooo happy I did this.. I cant wait to see where I am in 1 year..

    Is It Normal?

Maybe you should speak with your dr about the nausea.. I was also banded 03/17/08 and have had no nausea at all..
  10. I also cannot wait for the restriction that others talk about.. I go for my first fill on Monday.. I am almost one month out and have lost approx 25 pounds so far but that was lost in the first 2 weeks when I was on the liquid diet.. it seems since I have gone to foods I am not losing.. I am truly watching and drinking a Protein drink in between so I dont get so hungry but I guess Im eating too much.. not alot, but I guess every bite counts.. I think because I have no restriction at this point that everything is just going thru the band and therefore I have no restriction.. I truly cannot wait..
  11. Im so glad I came across this post.. I was banded 03/17/08 and get my first fill on Monday of next week.. My first week was no problem as I was so full just on liquids.. the second week I went to soft foods and just ate a little and was so full.. last week I was still on soft foods but noticed I could eat a little more without even thinking about it.. I measured my food and have been doing good.. I was getting so hungry last week.. this week is worse.. I cant wait to start getting my fills so this feeling will go away.. I have been soooo terrified that I have been stretching my pouch.. I am getting better at slowing down and taking smaller bites and chewing better, but sometimes I think maybe its still too fast or the bite is too big, etc.. Ive been so paranoid..

    I love my Vicodin!

I was banded 03/17.. I used the pain medicine for 3 days post op.. I did have to take a small dosage on the 4th day postop that night when it was time for bed and I was hurting after a long day.. today I am 6 days post op and havent used it since..
  13. Great job! I was just banded by Dr Marsden this past Monday and very encouraged by your before and after pictures... I sent a request to you to add as a friend on myspace!
  14. Too funny!
  15. I hear ya!! I am so encouraged right now.. I was just banded on 03/17 (Monday last week) and the day I got home and the day after I was actually regretting somewhat my decision.. I was hurting and it hurt to walk, etc.. Luckily I never had the shoulder pains but had problems burping.. for the most part that seems better.. I am currently on liquids only but starting Monday I go to soft foods.. I feel so much better today and taking next week off work too so when I go back the following week I will feel more like myself.. Just wanted to say that each day it gets better.. I noticed each morning after the 2nd day that I felt better each day more and more.. when Im feeling bloated or having problems with gas I walk around abit in the house.. I weighed myself Thursday and I've lost 17 pounds since 03/10 which was when I started my preop diet.. I cant wait to see where this journey leads me.. Im ready to feel better and get healthy!
  16. I was banded on 3/17 and just speaking from my experience.. My surgeon gave me pictures that he took while in there putting the band on.. he took one when the band was first placed.. then another one right after and its amazing to see how much my stomach swelled once it was on.. I know that when I drink a little that I feel some tightness inside which Im assuming is where the band is around the stomach.. I figure its mainly the swelling around the band at this point.. I figure once the swelling goes down in a few weeks, which is what my dr said, than I wont feel quite the tightness.. I bet it'll be the same for you.. Hoping someone else whose had it longer can give some insight.. just thought Id reply and tell you what Im experiencing with mine..
  17. I am actually one who told my children about 1 month ago.. I just had my band placed on Monday.. My children are 10, 14 and 16 and they dont think that at all.. They know Ive struggled with my weight for many years and they have seen me diet and do all the other things that I think many of us have done over time.. I dont feel the need to hide anything from my children.. They know the reasons why I have done what I have done and are behind me.. Now coworkers, no.. They dont need to know as they have nothing to do with my personal life.. Only my family and my closest friends know..

food hunger and lack of support

so sorry to hear that.. I was just banded on Monday and luckily my entire family stands behind me.. I even didnt tell my parents because I thought they might freak out when they found out that I actually did it.. but when I came home on Monday night I called my mom and told her all about it.. I was glad to see her and my dad show up at my home yesterday to check on me.. They didnt know of my health problems and now know and are behind me 100%.. My husband and kids are great about it.. however I know for me that I did this for me not necessarily for anyone else.. I knew that I was at the point that I had to do something for my health.. of course I will say that I want to lose the weight so that I can do more with my kids, do things with my husband that I havent been able to, but at the end of the day this was for ME.. I've learned in the last few days that this isnt going to be an easy road.. We are having ceramic tile put in most of our house so we havent been able to cook for a few days so the rest of the family has had to go out and bring something in.. Boy it smelled good, but I know that this is something I have to learn.. control.. I know that down this long journey things will have to change for me.. I will have to drink more Water than I ever have.. I will have to give up so much but it will be sooooo worth it.. I am excited to say that I am 5 days post op and I am down 17 pounds since I started my preop diet less than 2 weeks ago.. Im excited to see where this is going to lead me or actually where I am going to lead myself.. I know that once Im back to being able to eat I will have to learn to eat all over again.. Going out to eat will take more will power than anything I think for me.. I enjoy doing that with my husband.. Im also one who is somewhat afraid of the first time I go out to eat... I will have to get this whole thing down first before I take that big step.. If it were me.. I would go online and look for various soup recipes.. Id find the one that I like the best and Id make it and thats what I would take and I would enjoy every bite of it while Im thinking how great I will look and how great I will feel down the road.. Good luck to you and hope things brighten up for you..

    the poops

I was also banded on Monday and havent yet either although I figured it was due to only being on liquids.. I figured next week when I get some actual substance in me that I will see it.. hoping someone else knows.. now Im worrying..
  20. I am 2 days post op and can tell you that yesterday was a rough day! I was one who thought Id have it done and be right back to work.. Didnt happen.. I tried to go back today and had to come home.. Looks like I will be out til after next week so I can rest and get back to normal.. Yesterday I was doubting why I did this.. I felt totally horrible and was hurting pretty bad.. I do feel better today and am so looking forward to my future with this band.. I wont look back any more.. I know I did the right thing for me and I know I will get the results I want.. I have been moving around more and getting in more liquids, which I had a problem with both yesterday.. I am telling myself I will feel better!

    how long in the hospital?

I was banded on Monday.. I was at the hospital around 12:15 pm.. had my surgery around 2:15 and left the hospital around 7:00 that night.. I think I was there a little longer than most as I was having some problems with the anesthesia.. My husband was with me.. I would never have been able to make the drive home.. Yesterday was my day after and honestly I felt pretty yucky.. I was one who thought I was gonna go have it done and be back to work the next day.. Would never have happened.. I tried to go to work today and came home.. I will probably take all next week off to rest and get back to normal.. The pain hasnt seemed so bad, its mainly been the gas I think..

    Don't want anything.......

so glad to hear this is normal.. I was banded on Monday and honestly have only been able to drink some Water.. I tried a sugarfree popsicle yesterday and just couldnt do it, although my daughter was happy to take it off my hands.. I cant wait to feel better in a few days

    2 day pre op diet?

I am having my surgery on Monday and my dr has only required that I do a diet for 1 week.. it actually isnt even an all liquid diet.. I can have 2 servings of the following: egg, slice toast, bagel, piece of small fruit or yogurt for Breakfast.. then a Protein drink for lunch.. then for dinner 4-6 oz of meat with green vegetable and then another Protein Drink before bed.. I have to drink lots of Water..

How long did you wait for your approval?

it actually took the drs office 3 weeks to get everything together and send it to the insurance company.. They recvd my request on 01/17 and I got approved on 01/28/08.. just waiting for the letter in the mail so I can make my pre op appt..

I am so mad n disappointed--I could cry

Hugs to you.. Believe me I know its disappointing.. When I originally looked into it a few years ago I wasnt heavy enough.. I ended gaining a little that put me over the weight that I needed to be approved.. My insurance company originally said that I had to have 12 months of supervised diet, psych eval, stress test, sleep study.. From the time I originally looked into they changed it to 6 months of supervised diet.. I did my sleep study and found out I have sleep apnea that I never knew about.. I knew I woke up alot at night but didnt attribute it to that.. I got my approval today.. Keep your chin up.. If this dr wont do it then find one who will.. there are quite a few out there..
