Hey all! So I'm packing my bag, trying to get ready for my surgery. My surgeon says his VSG patients typically stay 3-5 days in the hospital. I have no clue what to pack. Any advice would be VERY helpful!!

Hello my name is Dotti. I'll be 25 on September 19th I've introduced myself before but it was a while ago. I just got a early birthday present which is my Gastric Sleeve date, September 8th I am going to make 25 the best year of my life. When I was just 12 years old I went into kidney failure. I was put on adult strength chemotherapy and high doses of prednisone. I was later then diagnosed with Lupus. I've been on prednisone since I was just 12 and straight until up to 2 weeks ago. I went from a healthy 12 year old 80 pound kid to a chunky 16 year old 160 pounds to 23 and over 300 pounds. I am now 24 and 249 pounds. I know my weight problems have to do with the prednisone but I also know food was the way I coped with being made fun of, getting homeschooled and now going through menopause and dealing with never being able to carry my own children. I remember when I was about 15 I asked my mom if I could get gastric bypass. She said "you'll never be big enough for that" well here I am mom! I keep saying 25 is the year I get my life back. 25 is the year I'm going to live. I can't wait to start making a life for myself that doesn't revolve around my bed. I'm ALSO scheduled for the sleeve on September 8th, and I'm having it done at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center =]]] CONGRATS!!! This is so exciting!! I turn 25 on October 8th and my current weight is 299lbs flat.

For a long time, setting a date for my surgery seemed like it was just never going to happen. But here I am! Scheduled to get sleeved on 9/8/14!! I'm more excited than I am nervous. Only thing I am really nervous about is knowing that I will wake up in the PACU with a tube down my throat and a drain in my side... Something about that just freaks me out a little. I've had a couple (minor) surgeries before so I'm comfortable with the process otherwise. I met a girl today, Lauren, who is scheduled to be sleeved on the same day! It's so wonderful to have all this support. You guys make me feel sane and like everything will be okay. I can't wait to kick start my new and improved life! Cheers!

Congrats!!!! That's quite the wait!! Staying positive is a lot harder than I thought it would be. But seeing everyone on here being so supportive is really up lifting. How far along are you in the process?

Hey everyone! I'm a newbie but THIS CLOSE to getting my DOS. I have two more pounds to lose before I get to set the date with my surgeon. But I'm staying positive! This has been one heck of a process. I'm so glad I joined this forum, finding support has been such a struggle! Anyone else in their mid 20's going through this?? None of my friends get the struggle.
