Awesome news! Prayers were answered and I got a call late yesterday from my insurance that my surgery has been approved. Now, Monday will be a fun day to get things scheduled.

I hope you get a YES response. I am waiting for a determination from my insurance and they are supposed to call me this afternoon if the medical director is able to look at it to see if I meet all the criteria.
...prayers your way that you get a yes!

Ok, insurance has received the last piece of information they need (I hope). The Medical Director is supposed to be in this afternoon and my Utilization Review Nurse will get with him to go over all my documents to complete a review of my pre-approval submission. She is hopeful to be able to let me know the determination this afternoon.
I sure hope that she calls me back with a "YES!"...
Pray for me everyone. I really want to think that I have jumped through every hoop and that I can now get on with my journey.

My only concern is that my records have me being 5'3 and my BMI increased to 39 and has recently become 40.3. My comorbidities include hypertension, fatigue, and constant weight gain. My menstrual cycle has been irregular for the last three years, which I think is because of the weight gain. Is that enough to get me approved? I've been really stressing about it since my appointment with the money hungry surgeon from hell. My husband thinks it was gods way if preventing me from going to a surgeon who didn't have my best interest in mind. I'm hoping this new surgeon helps get me approved. Hopefully he'll include pictures as well. I'm stressed but excited to be going to a new surgeon.

So, here is how I fixed my Plantar Fasciaitis. Simple fix and it worked. Not only for me but for two others at work. I tried braces but they did not help. Inserts for arch support did not help.
Get some athletic tape (Walmart has the package of 3 rolls in a box). Each morning wrap around the arch of your foot, just one wrap, starting on the inside just above your arch and wrap over top of foot and around coming back up to the top of the foot and cut the tape. You want to make sure the direction of the wrap pulls the arch in an upward direction for support I wore the tape all day and in the evening after my bath I put new tape back on. It helps to put a sock on to sleep as the tape will sometimes roll up at night.
This method actually is a very inexpensive arch support and helps to relieve the stress so your foot can heal.

Mine was submitted last Wednesday, Aug. 13th so now the waiting begins.
A girl at work has had hers submitted for almost a month. When she called to check on it, about 10 days ago, they told her they have 30 days to make their decision and because she didn't have cancer they can take the entire 30 days. Absolutely horrible that the insurance company can be so insensitive to peoples health needs. It is all about money after all...

    Hello everyone!
I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. My husband and I are close to retirement and hope to hit the road in our RV to see the country. And, I am looking forward to retirement as a healthy “normal weight” person instead of an overweight, out of breath, huffing and puffing old woman trying to get around seeing new sights and places. So, I have decided to have lap band surgery and have already had a wonderful visit with my surgeon. He has agreed to do the surgery and has submitted the request for approval to my insurance company (August 13th). So now the waiting begins.
I am very excited about the procedure as I have a sister and a nephew that have done awesome with the lap band. I also have a sister that had the RNY surgery and is doing great. As you can tell the heavy gene runs in my family.
My daughter is an RN and she supports my decision wholeheartedly and my husband is okay with it but I think is a little confused as why I can’t take the weight off by myself. But, he has watched me struggle over and over to lose weight only to fail or gain it back as soon as I went off the diet.
I need something that will provide the “hard stop” and tell me I can’t eat anymore. I know the band is a tool that does that and that I have to work with the band to lose the weight.
So happy to have found this site and look forward to the support and information that is here.
