  1. Absolutely! Yes I do. It isn't an option, once you've done the work, it's your job to help others. My sponsor is long distance too because there are not a lot of people here doing the work. But it's working great for me. I believe God brings the right person at the right time into your life and that's what he did for me with Cliff Bishop. my email address is meggie02162@hotmail.com. I also get free nights and weekends on my cell phone, so we could talk for free if you would like. Anytime after 7pm my time 6pm your time. I'm ready when you are.

  2. And you live in Texas!! God you are so blessed!! There are so many good big book meetings down there. If you could get to the primary purpose groups, I would kill to be you! (Where I live there are not a lot of good recovery based meetings like there are there)

  3. I lived a cave man philosophy of recovery my first year, go to a meeting, share my problem, and go home a lock the door. I still was unhappy though. Then I ran across a cd and heard the truth about AA. I got into doing to work out of the book, and I have been completely free from the obsession since then. 4th step in an inventory, just that. The book says it is the truth about stock and trade. It's not a lifelong story of everything bad you've done. There are 3 inventories and 1 list of others you have harmed. I can tell you that it is not scary and actually has proved to be quite fun! There are some great Cd's too you can find on primary purpose websites, Chris Raymer is a friend of mine, and Cliff Bishop is my sponsor. Both of them have cd's you can listen to for free! IT will be a life changing experience, I promise you that!

  4. The point of a 4th step out of the big book is "to face and be rid of that which is blocking you from God". Theres a great website to visit to learn about what AA actually is and isn't. In the 1940's AA had a 75% success rate. Today there is less than 10%. Why? because what they did back then (working the steps in less than a week) is not done the same today. Today we are more interested in patting someone on the back, then telling them the truth. Go to Steps and Traditions Web Site for more info, read the articles, they are very interesting!! Not blaming additction on heredity, but I do believe what the big book says that I suffer from a genetic pre-disposed illness and for that reason my body processes alcohol differently than other people. Congrats on your sobriety as well!

  5. BTW: the AA big book doesn't say anything about making amends to yourself or triggers. Don't let anyone read your big book for you!! I spend way to much time in all of my addictions being selfish and self-centered and not thinking enough about others...I certainly didn't hurt myself the most...how selfish is it of me to try and tell my family and friends who I robbed emotional security from, that I hurt myself the most? LOL! Alcoholism and Overeating are genetic pre-disposed illness, no situation in my life is the cause of my drinking.

  6. I have been clean and sober for almost 6 years and was just banded a couple months ago. Anyone who needs help with a 4th step I will be glad to help you. I have much experience with the 12 steps and have been through the work 3 times myself. I have found that doing the work out of the book has been esstential. When I was just going to meetings and talking sh*t, my life didn't get any better. When I finally started doing the work as the AA big book outlines, I have never obsessed about drinking or drugging since. It is a miracle that I NEVER wake up and obsess about drinking and drugging. It promises me this if I stay close to God and perform his work well. Anyway, I did a lot of prayer and meditation before deciding on the band. I am very glad that I did it!

  7. I had my surgery on a Monday. The day of surgery I was walking around an hour after the procedure. That first day was rough, Tuesday was a little better, and by Wednesday I was feeling much better. MAKE SURE YOU DO AT LEAST SOME WALKING!! It will really help with the gas, it is NOT A MYTH! But other than that I just hung around the house, relaxed, played on the computer, took short walks, ect. It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. I went back to work on Friday and was done with needing pain meds by Saturday.

  8. That's funny!! LOL I don't think people get denied for paranoia though....My psych was all nice to my face, knew how important it was for me to get this and then took his sweet time sending in his report, 3 weeks after he promised it would be sent, I called and he left me some message saying "He's sorry, but now he's sending it". My dietician was like 4'9 and 80 pounds and I made a comment as her not being able to relate to what I go through, and he wrote that down and made it this big deal...I was like geez...but Insurance still approved me on first submission :) Yay

  9. Isopure I like the Alpine Punch and Blue Raspberry, there are mango and apple melon and other flavors also. It makes it real easy to get Protein once you get sick of sweet and milky!

I had surgery on Monday and also have a desk job, I was back to work on Saturday, but realistically could have went back Friday! I recovered very quickly though and was up and walking 2 hours after surgery.

  10. AHH! I understand! I am broke and can never afford anything fancy!! I however got what's called a "Shake and Take" for Christmas which is a small blender (which works VERY well) and the cannister that everything blends in, doubles as a travel bottle! It makes things SOOOO Easy for me, and now there is no excuse to eat junk because I'm "in a hurry" or "too busy". My mom said it was $20 at a store like Walmart... heres the link to buy it!

  11. You can lose your hair if you lack Protein too much. It doesn't happen all that often, but it certainly can happen if you do not at least try get enough Protein. Isopure is available at GNC I like the Alpine Punch and Blue Raspberry. It's like 40g I believe per bottle, they are about $4.00 per bottle give or take. I think you can get a discount if you buy in bulk though. Also, I put unflavored Protein powder in foods that it can be mixed into, that works pretty well.

  12. I would say my feet is where I've lost alot of the weight already, I'm down 30 pounds and I was wearing a 10. Now some 9's are big, and tried on my mother's 8's and I could fit them (a little snug) but they went on. I would say definitely on the shoe size! My boyfriend got me pink reebok running shoes last year for Christmas that were 10's, and this year I got even nicer ones in a 9!! Yay :)

  13. No one can be forced into surgery. It's absolute nonsense. Maybe you had the surgery, now regret it, and are looking for some where to place the blame? At any point in the process (and ask anyone who has had the surgery, going from initial consultation, to the actual surgery date is A PROCESS) you could have said, NO. Maybe you felt forced because you have some other deeper issues involving your parents' approval, but that is an entirely different issue that would have been addressed had you been honest at the initial psych evaluation that is required in the first place. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but I cannot listen to someone make excuses as to why they are not responsible for their own life.
