  1. So my ENT diagnosed me with silent GERD. Never heard of such a thing. Had a revision in May 2020 due to hernia and GERD. Had to revised twice more in June due to some complications. Have been feeling fine then boom, come July I feel a lump
In my throat. No heartburn. At my ent visit for another issue with dizziness she did a scope and said it’s acid in the throat. Not the esophagus. 🤦‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️
Don’t have a single symptom of typical heartburn just this lump. Feels like something stuck. Like a pill. I can drink and eat with no issues.
It’s getting worse so she put me on Pepcid 40
    At night time.
Anyone have this. What did you do for it. It’s so annoying.

Fairlife milk and 2 scoops of PB Fit . I only use 1 scoop of PB Fit but I think a serving is 2 ? Greek yogurt some brands have 15 grams of Protein. Have you ever tried Protein Water ?

Hope you are getting to move forward now with all that you have been through.

    Protein waters have aftertaste
I like body armor I’ll do that. I guess.
Regular milk you mean? I think I’m going to make smoothies or get like an açaí smoothie. I have to do something.

  3. Morning! What do you think?
(Back story - sleeve 2015, revised to RNY due to GERD and two hernias. Revised 5/27/20, was fine and had a complication. “twisting” and had reflux.... vomiting bile and bowel 🤮 on 6/6. Opened up again 6/8. Lasted 2 days home from hospital and had to be revised 6/17. Moved first revision to mid intestines, surgeon claims.
One scare Sunday night. Thinking I had a bad Protein Shake and vomitted but wasn’t the same
    Bile reflux.)
My abdominal wall is on constant fire. I know it’ll get better. Being opened up 3x in 3-4 weeks isn’t fun! Same incisions too plus a few more.
I cannot or don’t want too drink or eat. No desire... I know I have too.
Horrible taste in my mouth. D
Gross. shakes are like death this time around. I used to love many different kinds. No way now. Popsicle ice pops repeat on me. Dye related maybe?
What to do!? I have to get something in.
Water has been an issue for me for years with the sleeve. Now I dont wanna touch it. Gatorade tastes 🤮

    Hope everyone is well!!! 🙂

  4. I cannot for the life of me have a shake since this last surgery.
Back story - 5/27 revised sleeve to RNY
opened back up 6/8 said twisting
6/17 opened again and re routed the RNY to mid intestines.

shakes I loved last week just can’t do it.
I have to desire to eat anything nor drink.

    Suggestions!?

I’m going to try and get down a premiere Protein Drink now.
Not even close to getting my oz. of liquids either.

Oh my gosh! I am so sorry you've had to go through this. It sounds like a nightmare, but hopefully this fixes the issue and you're on the way to recovery! Just take things easy and please keep us updated.

I’m trying. I had a shake for lunch and it tasted funny. vanilla fairlife with a half scoop of Isopure Cookies and cream and after ten minutes felt sick and now I have an acid taste in my throat. Now I’m nervous. Omg. No. Don’t even tell me

    I’ll
    Lose
    It !!!

Any updates? I'm thinking of you, @ge0rgette2 .. Hope you're doing okay.

Hi. I’m home as of Friday afternoon. Had a really bad two days in the hospital. The lacerations are more and deeper and they took the beginning of my intestines where the revision was. He felt moving it mid intestines was the best option. It was the “y” area of the RNY that was giving me an issue and was flipping or twisting. So he moved it dead center on my small intestine. So far I’m okay. No bile vomit and nausea. Horrendously sore. My abdominal wall is a mess for sure.
I had some bottom end issues as I think i was stopped up and gassy. Surgeon said use an enema today. So far so good. Had to move stuff out. It was horrendous. Worse then giving birth and felt like I was giving birth from there hahahahah
Otherwise so far so good. Ty so very much for thinking of me. It’s so appreciated.

Yikes, you may win the covid test prize!

I thought the childbirth thing was pretty laughable too! I mean we each perceive things our own way, but there is a only so much variety that fits reality (and the covid test is more an aggravation than a huge problem).

    :/)
I can’t believe they test throat. That seems wrong to me. But I’m not Fauci lollllll

I don’t think you should of taken Charcoal pills without the doctors permission. Sounds like gas build up to me. Walk as often as possible and take gasX if permitted.

Charcoal was the surgery before and maybe you’re right. I thought it was a good gas release. Or so I was told and read. Don’t honestly think it had to do with the revision though. I was sick and gassy before the pills. Who knows. Water under the bridge and already had a 3rd surgery

I had it on Monday. It’s kind of like the feeling when Water goes up your nose in the pool and it burns a little bit. The stinging a little milder than that, but it’s a little more sustained as they have to do it 10 seconds in each nostril.

I haven’t read the responses above, so my next comment isn’t toward anyone particular, but I’ve heard seen so many people online being dramatic about the test and referring to it as horrible (someone was telling people it’s like childbirth - what?! 0. There’s are some horrible medical procedures, and this one is not. For those of you who haven’t had it yet, please don’t worry

    Childbirth hahaha
    Not even close!
I’ve had 5 covid tests. Three for surgery and 2 for thinking I was and one for routine at doc.

It’s not horrendous but It’s not fun at all. It’s more weird and discomfort. Takes 10 seconds if that.

Having several surgeries in a row just stinks. Fortunately there doesn't seem to be any burning sensation from bile or acid this time.

The burping is normal. It really is though I can understand that you're really suspicious about it. Usually moving around helps the gas best. Also best to prevent thrombosis.

    Thanks. It sure does.
There is no esophagus burning or vomit but I have a weird taste in my mouth. I held down 4 oz Of shake today as well as some Water. So so far sooooo good!!!! ;-)
If I vomit bile I’m going to lose it. Everything that gurgles I get anxious. Xanax will be my new friend hahaha
The PPI has to be opened and I put it in applesauce and it’s just gross just like the Tylenol. It’s gag-able.

So it's like 2-3 days ago?

Honestly, I think some patients seem to expect too much too soon in terms of recovery. You recently had abdominal surgery. Not once. Twice.

There is most likely still a lot of swelling in the lower esophagus and the stomach/pouch from the manipulation, hence trouble drinking. Also some patients are sensitive to the general anesthesia, hence the vomiting.

Of course this is not a diagnosis. This is an educated guess. And it brings me to something that I most likely won't never get: how soon after abdominal surgery some patients are discharged. Are patients pressing for discharge?

What I read on here sometimes, coming from patients like three days post-op, would usually occur within a hospital setting if day of discharge wouldn't be that soon. Nausea, vomiting, feeling weak, dehydrated or bloated, not being able to empty bowels, trouble drinking fluids... So instead of being able to ask the nurse or doctor "Is this normal?!" they need to ask Google and users on an internet board "Is this normal?! Should I call my surgeon" - and the answer can only be: yes, if in doubt, you should!

Just took some charcoal capsules/anti gas.

    Was that recommended?

No. Charcoal wasn’t. I heard it was good to gas. Oh well that was a big mistake.

As for being opening twice, now it’s three times and this is the most horrific pain I’ve ever felt in my life. I’m so emotionally drained for two days. Every time I burp I say omg here we go again. I can do another surgery. I just can’t. This has taken its toll on me now. I just took some anti gas that the doc prescribed. I got a weird taste in my mouth and got scared and woke up. They revised my revision and moved it to another part of the intestine and he seems to think this is for the best. But here I am 72 hours out and got a weird gas burp with the taste I had last week an the week before. So I took a PPI. there is no burning or nausea like last time
That then lead me to vomit. But every time I burp I get anxious. I’m an emotional wreck. I have so much “butt” pressure. Unsure of those lovey hospital beds or just huge piles of gas ahah that needs to be gone.

If it were me, I'd probably get it fixed - but it's your decision. If it was a huge threat, he probably wouldn't be giving you an option.

Well I did it. We will see. So much horrendous pain this time.
My abdominal wall is on fire. So much gas. I just hope no vomitting. I had a weird sensation just now and adjusted my bed to have my head more upright. We will se

They want to go back in to fix what? The bowel obstruction? or something to do with your sleeve?

Are you still vomiting/nauseous? Every single day? If so, I would probably get it fixed. Yes, it won't be fun going through the surgery again and the recovery... but you're not in good shape now either, you know what I mean? Either way - you're suffering. Might as well get it taken care of ASAP.

But ultimately it is your choice and you will just have to have a hard conversation with yourself and decide what YOU want to do based on your own opinion.

Let us know what's going on. I am so sorry you're going through this. And if you get unkind or flippant comments - just ignore them. This could be any one of us going through this (and it might be one of us later on down the line).. not sure why anyone would be so glib about a serious subject like this.

Fix the obstruction AGAIN!!! I am assuming, speaking w/ the original surgeon this morning, that the CT Scan shows a partial obstruction - The surgeon last week - his collegue in his office, said he fixed the scar tissue, which he believed to be causing the issue - only last 2 days, so here I am.

Nothing to do with the sleeve, as I was revised to a RNY Bypass.

I am vomitting - not necessarily nauseated ... it just comes on very fast... it's not food related - its bile, intestinal I guess... some sort of reflux, is what I'm being told. How the food passes and the bile comes back up and no the food, I don't get it at all ... I'm so confused.

You're right - I'm not in the best of shape currently, fighting this - do I wanna do this in another month or so if it. doesn't go away on it's own - not really!!!!

I'm not saying I'm in denial - I know something has to get done - but 3x now in a month to be under anesthesia..

I want to feel well like I did about a week out - My son is supposed to get married in September, do I really want to feel this crappy and maybe have issues come August..

I'm just upset and venting, I guess ;) ty for listening to me ramble!

*and thanks, I know, people have their own opinions and they get keyboard fingers.. like you said, let them, I'll ignore HIM!~~ :) *

I'll keep ya up to date!

Perhaps ask the surgery if the risks of another surgery outweigh the benefits at this point & what percentage of these situations resolve themselves vs requires emergency surgery

  17. Surgeon called. Here we go again...
    Sleeve to RNY 5/27
Complication on 6/8. Vomitting of bile. Nausea.
Came home and 2 days later same thing. Went for CT again yesterday. Small bowel obstruction.
Wants to go back in but it’s my call.
Says it could go away or he will go in laparoscopic and fix it or if worst case incision thru my belly button.
Seems the collegue only removed the scar tissue And here I am.
    My call he says.
    Grrr.
food liquid staying down. It’s bile coming back up.
    What to do!?

I hope its nothing and I have to be opened up again.. I'm going to lose it - I did this for GERD and here I am now with BILE! LOL :)
