I am going to have surgery soon myself. Don't be too upset with your friend. Where you have read and researched info about wls , your friend on the other hand was hearing all this info for the first time. As a friend she was probably just concerned about someone she cared about. I'm sure when you first heard about the different surgeries and the procedures, it was a little scary. Just give your friend a little time to understand your reasons for your decision, and let her know you, have thought about everything. Good luck on your journey

Getting ready for sleeve
msspiceybaby replied to Jaz25's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I haven't had my surgery yet, but just wanted to say good luck -
I'd like to say good luck to you. Just remember all the stick-to-it-ness you already went through. You can make. I just hope you will encourage me when my time comes

I guess I was lucky, I had all my consultations in one day. Including meeting 3 doctors. It was just the later part that took so long (I finished my 6 months at the end of March). That's when I realized I needed to keep in touch with everyone concerning my surgery. So keep me inform as to when you get your approval . Hoping you much speed and luck.

Good for you. I just got my approval from the insurance company on the 7th of Aug. I was told that it takes up to 30 days for a decision. I called the clinic and the insurance company(I would recommend) . My clinic had (or said) sent my request June 6th, June 16th,June26, and finally July 7th. The insurance company kept saying they didn't get paper work. I called twice a week to check on my status. Then I was told it took up to 30 business days. So keep in touch with your doctors office and insurance company. Don't feel like you are bother anyone, because this is your life. They may do many surgeries, but there is only one you.

Pre-op eating question
msspiceybaby replied to Dee_RNY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can appreciate what you're saying about having that feeling of "never being able to eat certain foods again". I just got approved for my for my surgery. I don't have a date as of yet. I love to bake and I feel the need to bake. I need to get it together. I really want to be successful. I really dread the Protein shakes that I've tried. I thought that the fuzzy navel nectar would be good maybe I didn't use the right combination of ingredients, it was terrible to me. I'm going to try the unjury protein a lot of people claim that its really good. Luckily, I can get a sample package. Hopefully, we both will get it together and get a routine with those shakes. -

Weight ticker tape?

That's a very good question. I am a newbie and I have no idea. I thought maybe once you joined it would come under your name. -
New to this forum
msspiceybaby replied to Angie413's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey Angie413, I'd like to welcome you, I am a newbie as well. I haven't had my surgery either. I have most of the same health issue as you. I also am on the fence about my surgery. Because of the diabetes I'm leaning towards RNY because it has the best result as far as lowering the use of medicines and insulin. But the sleeve seems to offer less complications. Maybe we will both figure it out. Good luck -
I am so sorry you had to endure so much. I hope this little note will find you feeling better and getting stronger every day.I will remember you in my prayers.

I'm so sorry you have to wait. And I do understand your frustration, anxiety, and playing the waiting game . It will be worth it when your journey begin. I've been waiting for a while myself (I finished my 6 months. requirements on 3-28-14). Then when I call the Clinic I was told I had to have a sleep apnea test. Then after that I had to have another sleep study done. Now in between those appointments, I needed a letter from the doctor. Which doctor, the one that referred me to to program (pain management) or my primary doctor that could have done the same thing years ago ( lol). Primary doctor no response. Pain management doctor no response. Neither doctor got the template. Primary doctor never had to feel out template didn't know exactly the clinic wanted, then fax was not working. Finally, wait it takes about 30 days for insurance to make a decision. Call clinic "have you heard anything" call insurance, "has a decision been yet" "nope still in review". Now from July 7th to Aug 5th almost 30 days. Now the Claims Clerk tells me "Oh that's 30 business days" Alright I'm fried right about now. I still need to talk to the doctor and wait for a date. So yes I understand exactly. Sorry so long I finally got a chance to vent. All we can do is wait. I like to look up recipes for the future. And try to find a tasty Protein shake. Good luck to you.
