  1. Good day, everyone! I hope you are in good spirits. I returned to work today AND I get to eat smashies!!! (Mashed, smashed, purees). I was surprised at everyone's reaction to the way I look. I had lost close to 30 pounds before going out for surgery. And, I lost 15 since my pre-op weigh-in, 9 pounds since surgery. (Total 42!!!) And, no one noticed a thing when I lost the first 30. HAHAHAHA. I have not told work people that I had sleeve surgery. They all think I had my gallbladder out. Originally, that is what I was going to have done anyway. Then, my doctor said gallbladder was looking fine. I didn't change my story for work because another lady had gastric bypass about 6 weeks before I had the sleeve. And, to be honest, the work people were very nosey and in some cases, downright rude. (I hope they didn't mean to be rude, but I would have been put off by some of the comments made to her!) She does tend to share everything - like details of her dumping syndrome. So, perhaps she brought some of this on herself. Regardless, I felt my situation it was nobody's business. I tend to be private about these things. And, since I am one of the Directors, I didn't feel it was appropriate to be intimate with everyone. I hope you are all doing well
  2. Hi there! I've had problems with this website. I could read what everyone wrote, but when I tried to post it eould kick me out! Anyway, I've been with you all in spirit and holding your hand from Philly . All went well on Monday! No real problems. Minor nausea. But it disapates a few minutes later. I stayed 2 days in hospital. I live alone, so when they offered I said "why not". Today was okay. Everything tasted real sweet. So, I watered down the clear Protein shakes and it was much better.
  3. One more week until our new lives! I hope everyone is doing well. This weekend I was a little nervous that I WASN'T nervous. I have this incredible peace and calmness about me. I am well prepared. I have an awesome surgeon and a great medical team. They have done a super job in educating, informing, motivating, and preparing me to change my life. After reading some many people's comments and threads on Bariatric Pal, I am so glad I chose Hanneman Hospital in Philadelphia! They will not let you get the surgery unless you truly understand all of the stages, the risks, what to expect, etc. Perhaps that is why I have this peacefulness surrounding me. I am SURE I won't feel the same this upcoming weekend! Stay focused everyone! We have worked hard so far. Let's do this right!
  4. I am November 24th, too! Giblets out for Thanksgiving. And, I am in Philly! Just think, NEXT Thanksgiving we will all be healthy, good looking and dazzling!

    Any November Sleevers?

November 24th here! Getting by giblets out for Thanksgiving!
  6. I am scheduled to have my surgery on November 24th. My intention was to not tell anyone - - - or perhaps a select few. In the Spring I had gallstones. At that time they suggested I have my gallbladder out. However, my boss was just about to have a baby. We are the only Sr. Managers in the office. The doctor said I could hold off on gallbladder surgery until the Fall. He then discussed weight loss surgery. I attended a seminar, started learning and studying and researching. They are now saying that my gallbladder is fine. So, basically, I am sticking to the story regarding having my gallbladder removed. (Hopefully, nothing actually happens to my gallbladder in the future! LOL!!!) I moved to Philadelphia three years ago for a job. Eleven months later, I was laid-off... fortunately, I found a decent job within 6 months. So, the good news is my family and close friends don't live here. They get to see me every month or so. I have lost over 20 pounds since the beginning of September. So, everyone knows I am "on a diet". It was my intention to tell NO ONE! But, sometimes God puts people in your life for a reason. At a recent networking/social event, I met a woman who was looking for a job. And, I was able to help her with her resume, research, etc. We became friends. Recently she shared with me that she had lost over 200 pounds and had been sleeved. Since then, she has become my confidant. It is great to have someone to share with who won't judge because she has been there! I may tell my two closest friends in NY. But, I am not ready to, yet. And, no, I will not tell my very skinny mom who has never understood my plight! (Apparently, I have my dad's genes...) She (and my brother) thinks my gallbladder is coming out and that is why I won't be home for Thanksgiving. Reading all of your posts has helped me realize I am doing the right thing by keeping it to myself. IT IS MY LIFE!
