  1. August 2014 Sleevers check in!

    Start weight: 269

    Surgery day weight: 249

    Current weight: 175

    Goal weight: 149

I have not reached goal and I am still happy to be sleeved! I have encountered a lot of other health issues which I was able to manage better because of my weight loss! I have undergone 4 other major operations since being sleeved the last was 6 weeks ago! I am back on track with a heathy weight loss goal and ready to move it! I am looking forward to 2016! I already look fabulous in my little black dress!

  2. My husband was sleeved October 13 and I'm being sleeved November 17 that's 5 weeks apart. I have a 4 1/2 yr old son, so we weren't able to do it together since one of us have to be there for him and to run the house,

I'm very scared about the sleeve since I'm a very hard and picky eater I don't like a lot of foods ( especially Yogert ) so I'm hoping it won't be to hard for me...

My husband is doing great, he lost about 55 lb since pre op. I know that woman don't loss as fast as men do... but I'm trying to stay positive and hoping for the best!????

As a woman, what has worked for me is sharing and not comparing. You will have an health event that many other people will never even be able to complete and it is life changing. Now add that you get to do this with someone you love in the same house ; it is a true gift. Don't worry just work at making good food choices. Best of luck to you both!

  3. My husband and I are both sleeved 5 weeks apart! We have kids ages 12/13 at that time last year! To our kids we have what they call "baby bellies." We don't eat much and encourage each other constantly! It added to our already close marriage! We are blessed and happy! (Aug/Sept 2014). It is not easy being sleeved but it has been a great thing for the both of us!

  4. Okay I am not saying follow my example and for others this is what I did my body my way!

    1. 3 months and yes that is one on the longest time I gone without a drink. No I'm not alcoholic and I only drink at times! Vodka, Rum, Brandy, ect! I would say do the research and decide for yourself!

    2. No

    3. No

    4. No

I don't drink every day or every week! I am sleeved and I am carful not to consume too much!

  5. I am in/out of Houston! First congrats to you! Next do your research! You want to have done by someone who has a great reputation and works in a "Center for excellence" if possible! You want a surgeon who will listen to you and offers great after aftercare. Good luck to you!

  6. I have been going through the approval process, but until last week I think I was never serious.

I travel for a living, and for the first time, got on a plane and couldn't buckle my belt. I was so humiliated at the thought of asking for the extended in front of my colleagues that I sucked it in and spent 4 hours gasping for breath.

When I got home, I took 2 of my 3 daughters to the store. There was a woman in the parking lot blocking the aisle and talking in her phone, oblivious to a whole line of cars waiting. I gave a little toot on the horn, she moved, and I parked the car. We got out to go into the store and she was waiting behind my car and let loose with a stream of obscenities that I could never repeat. I asked he to stop talking that way in front of my children while trying to get away from her, so she followed us and got personal. She called me fat...and went into detail about how ugly I was. My daughters were sobbing and begging her to stop saying those things to their mommy. And she followed us into the store and continued in front of the other patrons while all 3 of us cried until a store clerk threatened to call the police. People were standing around staring and video taping it on their phones. It nearly broke me, and I am a 2 time cancer survivor who never once let anything beat me before. I vowed in that moment never to be an embarrassment to my girls again, and to get healthy. When I arrived home, I had a message that my surgery was approved and they were ready to set a date. November 23. I'm ready.

First congrats on being a cancer survivor! Secondly you can't change what happened but know even if you weighed 1000 pounds knowbody has the right to disrespect you! You are brave and strong! Your girls are blessed to have you for a mom! Just remember to talk with them about what happen. Let them know it was nothing they could do! There are a lot of crazy people in this world! There is also a lot of love. Work on being healthy but please don't let negative people crush your being.

  7. It takes time. My insurance require a six-month diet, psychological evaluation, EKG, and a general physical. The total time for this process was eight months. My doctor told me that only 40% of his patients actually reach the goal of surgery. I'm proud to be part of the 40%! My Husband and I are living our sleeved lives happily and successfully.

  8. Watching my mother die from cancer in April of this year. Knowing that I will die someday and my kids will have to watch it as well. So I want to live forever. I know that's not possible but I want a long healthy life. So I started this journey. Wish I would have done it sooner. (Quote)

I watched my best-friend and sister suffer from several diseases related to obesity. She died of heart disease. Getting healthy for me I know its a matter of Life or death and I'm trying to Live. No excuse, this surgery is just a tool. You have to live and work it every day. I'm choosing to work it to the best of my ability! I want to be heathy and meet my great grandchildren.

  9. Good for you! There will always be people who don't understand. That is normal and not your problem! You have gotten a tool that will help you improve your health. You did it for you and it does not matter what anybody else thinks. Congratulations and I hope you heal quickly.

  10. I am 3 weeks post op and ready to go back to work on Monday called my boss to let her know( by the way she is an RN) and she asked me how many calories I was eating a day and told her between 600-700. And her answer to that was "that is not enough calories to sustain good health". Really, as a nurse you think she would know better on what happens when you remove three quarters of your stomach and it only holds 4 ounces.

Several of my friends/family in health and fitness told me the same thing! It is a pain in the butt to have to defend my WSL lifestyle. Again, when I move it will be on a need to know bases only! I will not lie! However, I don't want to spend the next 40 plus years taking about this medical procedure unless I am getting paid. Lol

  11. You are normal! Reality is that this is a new time in your life. You get to choose what happens next. The positive is you are selecting to seek support and help which is great! Now, find away to reach your goals! The medical part is done now is the time for healing and getting healthy! This is not easy but keep it moving. Congratulations and never give up! It does get better and the sun will come up!
