My insurance requires a 6-month physician supervised diet?!? :(
LadyK44 replied to piemonade's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did a 6 months pre-op diet with my primary care physician. The surgeon told me that only 40% of the people who he works with actually get the surgery. Had a psychological evaluation and appointment with the nutritionist. It went by fast but it was frustrating. -
I truly love my sleeved life! I have walked all over downtown Houston and its suburbs. I flew in an airplane and fit! It is not all about weight loss. I am living a healthier lifestyle. I hope you all are having a blast cause I know that I am! This sleeved thing is not always easy. Each day is a chance to do better. Keep moving people and remember to smile because it's contagious! Happy New Year!!!

I am a work in progress! On New Years Day 2016, I will be sleeved 17 months. I can say that my life has changed in so many ways. This New Year's Eve I don't have to promise to lose weight as that is already happening. I do have to Focus on being happy and living my best sleeved life. There has been nothing easy for me regarding change. I had life, career and major health challenges. However, each day I live is another chance to better than the day before. I have 35 pounds left that I am going to lose my life has always gone better than the projected statistics. Sometimes I make mistakes but this choice was not one of them! I just want to share a sense of hope and encouragement. Fight for what you want and know you are not alone. I am transforming and sometimes it hurts. However, I know the end result will be a happier and healthier human being and not a number a chart. Happy New Year everyone! Enjoy your life faithfully.

Has your Marriage Changed Since Surgery?
LadyK44 replied to Half of Bri's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think that many couples would benefit from counseling before surgery and then after. As I stated before I'm part of a sleeved couple! We have been together for 16 going on 17 years. He and I are best friends. We have normal everyday issues. Being sleeved has brought us closer. What works for us "talking" simply talking! All I can say is that if there were problems before you are sleeved there going to be magnify after such a procedure. Marriages are alive and require time and attention. When people lose weight they often receive a lot of outside positive nurturing. Make sure you take time to complement your spouse and review. Take care of yourself and your spouse. -
Hi all! We are now officially in the holiday season. This is often the hardest time to eat healthy and stay healthy. Remaining focus will help us get through this time and every time keep on moving! Life happens sleeve or not, just do you best and keep trying.

Stupid things people say when they find out you've had surgery....
LadyK44 replied to Awjones28's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had my surgery on a Friday. Saturday was the day I took my "sip test." The attending physician well let just say he was a "butt!" As I struggled to get my big self out of the wheelchair and in front of the x-ray machine he said "you did this to yourself." My replay "I sure did." I proceeded to have a conversation with him about effects of obesity on my body. The x-ray tech appeared shocked and confused. At the end of the day speaking up made me feel better. -

I been here running like crazy! It feels Great to be able to do things like walk up an escalator in the mall. This is the first time in my adult life I feel free. I don't worry about people watching me eat. I am gaining more confident and enjoying being me! Fat for me was an excuse not to try. I am no longer trapped in that prison! I am still working towards my weight-loss goal . What I have learned is to enjoy the journey!

No problem! I truly believe that working together helps make this journey easier! I have been sleeved since 8/01/2014. I was not really afraid of the surgery its self because I believed without it I would have died at an early age. Now, at the very least, I have the chance to become my healthiest self!
