1. I am wondering if I am coming down with the flu. Has anyone experienced it after being banded?

I certainly don't feel like eating, feel weak, achy and most concerningly...nausea has set in...

Any advice? Wretching is not something I think I should be doing.

  2. Thanks for the quick responses! My doc says that I am overwieght right now and he is okay with it... but If I wanted to go for the rest of the weight I should and could...

So that is the word I am living by right now.

I too think my co-workers are just used to the 'ol fat me.. and the change is a little shocking..and a few have admitted to being threatened by my weight loss. I want to be an inspiration not a threat.

This is the greatest thing I have ever done for myself! My biggest problem is learning to shop thrifty because I know I won't be in my britches long before I am downsizing again! And that is an awesome problem to have!!!

  3. Hello Everyone! I am 13 months out of surgery and have lost 87 pounds. I feel great but the BMI chart says I still need to lose 24 more pounds. I am certainly willing and plan to... but my co-workers are absolutley against it. They say I am perfect now.

I look in the mirror and still see fat me...not 87 pounds less me.

Do you guys follow the steadfast BMI chart?:)

  4. uh huh... I just did the same thing last week... and felt terrible about it.. then scared myself thinking I would make my band slip...and then stressed about it too....

Personally I got a fill andthat was the 'thing' that made me get back to reality... I think I was in desperate need..

Now I am fine, thank goodness

  5. Hi! I woke up and was in pretty bad pain on the surface of my belly skin... the sheet hurt.. the nurse saw me lifting the sheet off my skin and gave me some pain meds and all was fine.. I received two more doses of pain meds and after a very short recovery (drinking 1 oz of apple juice, barium swallow) I was sent home.. the nurses were all amazed.. my hair wasn't even messed up! :)) I tried to get my driver to take me to work as I had tons of things to do... but she refused and fussed at me!

Honestly, the second day was worse... after the second day I started a quick road to recovery... getting rid of the air was the most uncomfortable (walk walk walk)

Best of luck- you should do fine! I applaud you taking charge of your life- its hands down the best thing I have ever done for myself!

    Cheers! Jen/Whisper

  6. Hi! I too just had my first fill on Thursday... I feel very different in the morning (more restriction- as many experience). Today is my second day of liquids.. last night I had cream of chicken Soup and it was not keeping the hunger away... I guess it was just running right through.

How much did you get filled with? I was done with 1.5... they tried 2cc's but it was not staying down.

I was able to watch it on the x-ray.. it was really cool to watch it and then feel the liquid going down at the same time!

The little 'mini' support group that collected in the waiting room as we all waiting to get in for the fill was pretty fun too!

I love love love the band!

  7. Hello Everyone! I am one month post op and all is going well. Lost 27 pounds so far... but am now getting really hungry and think about food often and have made a couple of bad choices but for the most part doing well. For Thanksgiving I may have eaten a bit too much if I am honest.

My question is.. I am having naseau and I am worried..Last couple of days I feel blahhh. Is it possible I have overeaten and stretched the pouch that easy? Is this something you guys have gone through or does this sound bad?

    Thanks for your input!

    Jen:speechles

  8. I would hate to take that chance. I only stuck to it for two weeks because I had that threat hanging over my head and I did pay out of pocket.

After two weeks I had dropped 7 pounds and had stuck to the diet to a T .... and it was very hard!

My surgeon told me afterwards that my liver had reduced in size... they know these things.

It could possibly make the surgery unsafe if the liver was in the way.

Be strong YOU can do it!

  9. I have friends that my relationship revolves around 'let's go out and have dinner'...

Now, those friends are not so eager to do that anymore... I suspect my lack of gorging is going to amke them self conscious about eating themselves... hmmm

..but I still want to go out..

  10. Hey you guys, since we are all along the same timeframe of being banded, are any of you confused about what you are feeling? I mean... Are you wondering (like I am).. is that hunger or fullness or ..nausea.. or .... What is this feeling? I presume it has something to do with the swelling... right?

Am I alone in these feelings?

And as far as the pain .. it absolutley gets better each day... I was able to sleep in the bed last night!!! Yippee!

I am looking so forward to the support group meeting next Thursday!! I am also very thankful of you guys!!!!

  11. I was banded on the 18th and the biggest concern for me was the bloated feeling I was warned about before hand... well I have to say it is VERY uncomfortable and makes me just want to stay humped over in the chair.. I am three days out and feeling better today than yesterday... I only took 1/2 pain pill today.. and have been forcing myself to walk alot.. we went to the shelter today and visited the cats.. something to get my mind off the pain... I kinda of walk hunched over for a minute or two and then straighten up...

whew- I plan to go back to work Monday - 4 days post op but I have a desk job...and I am going crazy with daytime television... I mean.. how much MEERCAT MANNER can one girl watch!

  12.
Hello Everyone! I went in yesterday morning at 6am and was in the surgery room by 8. I left the hospital at noon! Wow!

The nurses were great and the Anesthesia staff was as well. I love my surgeon (Matthew Brengman, St Marys Hopsital Richmond VA)

I had mimum pain yesterday but last night was pretty fitful... I couldn't sleep laying down so I got up and found peace in the recliner... that and an extra percocet let me rest.

I walked my litle feet off several times after I got home and even at 10pm...up and down the driveway... walking really works to get the air moving... I feel little to no effect of it this morning.

The only true pain I have is the port site.. and I am terrified I am going to 'upset' it.. so I am taking it slow when I get up and down.

Question: Do I really start the 3 Protein shakes now? I dont want them... but also dont want to lose my hair either! ... and what ...please do tell me ...what does full feel like at this point?

Thanks for all the suport- I was eager to report back! I finally did it!

Whisper

I plan on taking strolls arounf the pasture with the dogs the smae afternoon... of course I hope I am not being to optimistic... but I need to go back Monday.. so better go ahead and get started walking sooner than later!

    Cheers!

  14. Hello Everyone! I am having surgery this coming Thursday and I have to say I am grieving... I feel like I am breaking up a life long relationshiop with food and I am honestly depressed. I am excited about the road ahead, but the thoughts of not being able to indulge on Rice A Roni and cheetos... etc... is really setting me back... :think

Please someone tell me they felt this way before surgery too.
