    New group for oct sleevers

I go Oct 23rd. It's becoming more real with October 1st being right around the corner. I have my pre-admission testing and anesthesia consult on the 9th and my pre op class on the 14th. Time flew by!

    2014 October Surgery

Congrats! I'm off for 6 weeks because that's my doctor's requirement. I'm hoping he will let me go back to work after 4 weeks. I work in a hospital with patients so I don't want to risk any leaks or something from going back to soon. I thought I'd be able to do paperwork while on leave but his work restrictions said "No work."

    Increased cravings... Smh

I think it's more of a mental thing. I take a multivitamin daily, a hair skin and nails vitamin, calcium + d, and liquid vitamin D (I was vit d deficient so I've been taking 10,000 units a day for the past 5 months or so). I'd be surprised if I were still short on the vitamin and minerals with that load of vitamins plus food.

I just noticed that when you type Un Jury without the space it converts it into a link... Like it did my previous post. I only wrote "good reviews on un jury protein powders" Interesting lol

My surgeon recommended BiPro protein because it's an isolate protein and doesn't have a bunch of added fillers like most protein powders do. I've also heard a lot of good reviews on Unjury protein powders.

    Introducing myself!

That's a good question. I'll try to find out today or tomorrow and let you know what they tell me.

    Sinus infection/cold before surgery!

I'm worried about getting sick as well. My job has a mandatory flu shot requirement and my surgery is Oct 23rd. I ALWAYS get sick after getting my flu shot so I'm going to put it off for as long as I can. Hopefully, I won't have to get it until I return from my medical leave. I would call and ask the nurse coordinator or NP that runs your bariatric program. Ask them what they think you should do being so close to surgery. Why do you think you'll need antibiotics? If it's a viral infection, you just have to let it run its course, antibiotics won't help it. Either way, I would ask them asap while you still have 10 days to take care of it.

    Before and After Pics

Great job! I won't have surgery until Oct 23rd but my starting weight will be around 230-240. I hope I can have a steady weight loss like you did. 46lbs in 2 months is awesome and you look great!

    Introducing myself!

I wad told to start taking biotin prior and after surgery as well. It's done wonders for my hair growth now. I won't have surgery until Oct 23rd. From what I've heard from people who are post op, the hair loss is noticed most 6 months after surgery. So taking the biotin now and continue it will help reduce the amount of loss.

    Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!

My surgeon requires an overnight stay. I check in the morning of surgery and they plan to keep me until dinner the next day to make sure I'm able to get pureed food down safely and get my liquids in. If there's trouble then you stay longer.

For me when I am typing a message I touch the + sign which opens the full screen message box and then the 3 squares at the top right of the screen which opens a menu and attach picture is an option there. For my profile pic there is a camera icon to change that.

    Wisconsin VSGrs?

I'm getting sleeved by Dr. Wallace in October. How did you like him? I like the straight forward approach with my physicians. I think the Bariatric wing of the hospital was remodeled recently.

    Anyone in Wisconsin?

I'm in the Milwaukee area. But I won't have surgery until Oct 23rd. I'm in my 30s, but most people I know who have WLS are in their late 40s or older.

To add them in a post.... Touch the plus sign next to the entry area and then touch the 3 dots at the top right of that screen. It should show a drop down menu that has attach picture in it

    Coloring hair

I think with coloring hair the thing to avoid is dying it a lighter color. Lifting ot several levels causes stress and damage to hair. Combine that with the stress your body is already going through with the surgery (healing itself and the lack of it's usual food/nutrient intake) you're likely to shed more than the norm if you try to lighten it. I wouldn't recommend exploring the world of blonde if you're a brunette right after surgery. Also, according to several people who are more than a year out and my dietician, they say the most hairloss is noticed around 6 months postop, not immediately after.

6 months out, is this it?

This is encouraging for me. I won't have surgery until Oct 23rd. My starting weight is about 235 (or less depending on loss during the 2 week preop diet). I have been wondering how much I can really expect to lose with where I am now, and how quickly it will come off.

...... I forgot about that app. That is one helpful app, especially because it let's you scan the barcodes of food items = quick and easy! I'll have to drop that back on the front page of my phone.

I'm going to make it a point to start keeping food logs during my preop diet. Hopefully that way I'll be prepared postop to log what little I'll be able to eat lol. We'll see how it goes! I know we can do this.
