Thanks! I could use the ski jacket and the 2 lighter weight ones. I know the post office has those flat rate boxes. I'm not sure of they all would fit in one of those though, I don't remember how big they get. Please let me know, how much and I'll send it to you. Thanks again! -

October 2014
Jen - a work in progress replied to fitbefore30's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm sure any sudden changes to your diet will make your body react in one way or another. When I've gone on restricted diets in the past, it took a few days for my body to stop arguing with me and just go with it. Your surgery is tomorrow, which will be here before you know it! Stay strong!! You can do it! And you're doing the right thing to keep busy and distracted. Maybe you can ask ur doc for an anti-nausea med or something, but with it only being a few more hours before surgery they might not want you taking any. It never hurts to ask tho. Best of luck to you! You're almost there -

Preop: protein high calories low
Jen - a work in progress replied to rumpole6's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would keep going with protein as well. Most of my material will give a range of protein but then it says or more. ie: 60-75 grams or more. -

Jen - a work in progress replied to fitbefore30's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Where are you having your surgery? It almost sounds like you weren't given any direction or pre and post op information and directions. Is that the case? You should have discussed your plans and goals with your surgeon and nutritionist already prior to being scheduled. -
Sleeved yesterday and everything went well
Jen - a work in progress replied to Trina S Tadlock's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hmmm... I thinking maybe just yours BUT now I want to ask my doc to do the same lol. I work in the medical field and don't get grossed out by that kind of stuff. It would be cool to see how much is removed. More importantly!! I'm glad to hear everything is going well and I wish you a speedy recovery. -

Question about Protein Shakes and Post-WLS Diet
Jen - a work in progress replied to Redsfan19's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I'm in the US, but my program is similar to yours, with the exception of the time line for introducing different consistency of foods. They want us to get in at least 60 grams of protein a day. One meal should take 45 mins to eat or we're eating too fast. They want milk as a snack for added protein between meals and drinking water for the 2-3 hours between meals and Snacks. Protein is eating first before anything else to make sure you get your protein in before getting full. When I get back home I'll try to post some of the sample meal plans they gave me and options for protein intake. -

Where did you find liquid biotin? I can only find chewable but I think the liquid would be a lot better since it wouldn't have all the additives. I have been so bust at work I haven't had a chance to call my surgeon's office about it. -
Question about Protein Shakes and Post-WLS Diet
Jen - a work in progress replied to Redsfan19's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
My surgeon advised against protein shakes all together. He doesn't want you drinking you calories and a lot of protein shakes have so many additive and fillers your body doesn't need and are counterproductive to having surgery. My pre op diet is more of a healthy one high in protein and low in carbs, sugar, and fat. Post op diet is pureed for 2 weeks, then fork smashable for 2 weeks, and then chewing foods if tolerable. The only Protein powder they recommended was bipro unflavored to add to my pureed meals and mix into my other foods like yogurt and cottage cheese and broth and whatnot. They also recommended adding powdered milk for additional protein. I was told my surgeon won't release you for work if you are trying to get by on protein shakes. In the hospital they have you order pureed meals to see if you can get them down without complications while they are still around to intervene if needed. However, I see on these boards that most surgeons prefer the liquid diets so it's all surgeon preference. -

How tall are you? Did you have any plastic surgery or do you have any issues with lose skin? I'm 5'6 SW 234. I have surgery on October 23rd. I'm nervous about surgery but I think my biggest concern is wondering what will happen with my skin as I lose lol -
Height, Weight, And Size Poll
Jen - a work in progress replied to LeaveItToSleever's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I won't have surgery until Oct 23rd but my stats right now are as follows.... Ht 5'6 HW 256 CW 234 size 16 jeans that I can slide off without unbuttoning, or size L yoga, sweats, or other slip on pants. Tops are either a L or XL. Everyone is different. It depends a lot on height and each individual's build or body type. I wear a size 16 jeans because my thighs and butt are too big for the size 14 my waist would prefer. If I wear the 14 I end up with nasty plumber's crack whenever I bend or sit down. Lol!
