Hey, some of us girls like fantasy football too! Why post just in the guy's room? I would have gotten in on this!

Thinking of you Katie. Hope they can get you approved and quickly. I know how much you want this. I am still waiting for my approval. Hoping to hear today or tomorrow.

I am in the same boat. My surgery is scheduled for 9/23 and I am waiting for my pre-auth as well. It's nerve wracking!
Hi, everyone! I am scheduled as of now for Sept. 16, but I am still waiting on my pre-cert to be approved. It was submitted at the end of last week. I REALLY hope my insurance approves me - I will be devastated if they do not. I've already started my pre-op diet, and I am just SO excited to have this done! The waiting is killing me LOL

Hi ladies
How many days or weeks after surgery did your dr say you can go back to work?
My surgeon said, with no issues, about 2 weeks. I have a desk job. If you have a strenuous job, it could be longer.

September 23 rd here!!
Me too! Having a minor issue with the insurance company. Hoping to have my answer next week.

My surgery is tentatively scheduled for 9/23/14. My case just went to my insurance company Friday or today. I am going to be a nervous wreck until I hear something back from them. Just hoping it's an approval!

For those of you who have started the process, are in process. Can you spell out what you've been asked to do so far?
For instance, did you need to get a referral from your family doc? What was the first meeting with the Bariatric Team like? What did they require you do before approving you for surgery? (I know each is different, I'm curious...)
I don't meet with the Bariatric docs here until August 26th. I'm curious to see what others have experienced and what they've been told the process is... THANK YOU!!!
I went to a seminar with the surgeon I picked on 4/30. My insurance does not require a specific program, but my hospital required a 3 month program as they are a Center of Excellence. I then had 3 group meetings, 2 with dieticians and 1 with an exercise physiologist. Three appointments with a NP at the Weight Loss Center. A one on one with a nutritionist and a behavioral specialist. An appointment with the surgeon to go over everything and decide which kind of surgery to have, I am having a sleeve done and one group support meeting.
I already know I have sleep apnea, so I don't have to do a sleep study, I have an endoscopy scheduled as well as a cardiac eval scheduled. Then the basic pre-op testing, bloodwork, chest x-ray, visit with the anesthesiologist.
I have a tentative surgery date for 9/23 and my case should have gone to my insurance company on Friday or today. I am very nervous, I just hope the approval comes through and I can move on. Hope this helps!

My case should have gone to my insurance company today. I am sooooo nervous. I know that we have been in touch with them on 3 different occasions and they have said it is included in the coverage for 90/10, but I have read about so many people that have been denied for stupid, little reasons like something just being worded wrong. I have a BMI of over 40, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, wicked arthritis in both knees, sleep apnea and I was just diagnosed with diabetes. I have a tentative surgery date of 9/23/14 and am going for my pre-op testing this Thursday. I just hope the surgery is approved and I can have the surgery when it's scheduled for and move on with my life!

Thinking of you Katie, hope you can get it worked out Hang in there, you've made it this far, you can make it another 3 months!

My hospital told me that the cost for a VSG with no complications would be $63,500. I have a $750 deductible and have to pay 10%. They told me if the insurance company has a deal in place with the hospital, the price may be lower. They also said they have significant savings for people who are self-pay.

Got my tentative surgery date 9/23/14!!!! Yay!!!!!!
My tentative date is 9/23 as well!!

Any word yet?

Hello, I am Patricia. My surgery is tentatively scheduled for September 23rd. I am praying it gets moved up to earlier in September. I don't have to do the pre-op diet. I am ready to get it done mentally, a little nervous and anxious at the same time. Good luck to you all!
Hi Patricia, my name is Leigh and I am tentatively scheduled for 9/23 as well! I have 1 more pre-op class next Tuesday, a cardiology appt. and my endoscopy left. My case is going to the hospital board next Friday and then to the insurance company for approval. I am so afraid they are going to deny me and it's going to take longer and I will have to change all of my appointments!

So, did you smooth things over with your co-worker? I can understand that she would feel bad that you started this journey together and now you have hit a speed bump and she's speeding along, but if you have been friendly for that long, I would think she could get past it. You should be the one that's upset, not her. I guess she just doesn't want to rub salt in the wound, but if you have told her you're ok, then she should be ok.

Oh no, I'm sorry you're not feeling well Maybe if you give them until Friday, they will have the answer you are looking for and you will feel better all the way around! Good luck! Keep me posted!!
Hey! Well I mailed in my appeal last week and they got it last Friday morning. (Sent certified and with signature required and I ended up with strep throat and NO VOICE!! so I was gonna call but I've been outta work the last 2 days with this nasty thing. So as soon as I get my voice back I'm going to call!! Keep me in your prayers please!! And thanks for thinkin of me

Hi Cindy, just wondering how you are doing today? Hope all went well.

Hi Katie, any word on your appeal yet?
Hey! I do know where Pottstown is! We were actually looking at houses up that way! I'm hopefully having mine at Abington hospital. Working on my appeal letter for insurance now.

Hi all! My name is Leigh from PA and I am scheduled for September 23rd. I am almost finished with my 3 month program as required by my hospital. My case will need approval from the hospital and then the insurance company. We have spoken to the insurance company 3 times and each time they have said it is covered 90/10, so I am not expecting a problem, but you never know. I would love to have some weight loss buddies!

Hey Leigh! I'm also from PA, right outside philly. Where are u exactly??
I was denied by insurance. but I'm appealing so I don't have a date right now.
I'm hoping to send my appeal letter this week
Katie
Hi Katie, I am outside of Pottstown if you know where that is. About an hour NW of Philly. I am having my surgery at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
