  1. Yes, slow down and allow yourself to burp after each sip. I sometimes put my hands on top of my head and walk a little bit, then that feeling goes away. I'm 16 days out and I rarely get that feeling anymore.
  2. Hello! My current weight is 212. My goal weight is 202...10 pound loss
  3. Thought my surgeons were conservative. But just imagine how you will look if you did follow your surgeon's requirements!
  4. When you get to the puréed stage post op, make a few soups, then purée and freeze them in 2-4 ounce portions. Much cheaper than buying baby food....
  5. Niece played soccer for Oregon...so happy they beat Florida!!!
  6. Thx girl! You doing okay? @@bobbyswife
  7. Happy New Year Everyone!! I have a question. How soon can I do the elliptical? My surgery was 12/16, I'm already walking 3 miles a day. I worked out a lot prior to surgery...and I'm seriously itching to resume my workouts. My follow up isn't until 1/9...sigh.
  8. Had surgery on Dec. 16th, and began eating puréed on the 14th day. I started with just 2 ounces...after it took me 3 hours to get up the courage. It took me 30 minutes and I didn't experience any problems. Yesterday I added an additional ounce and still no problem. But, I also make sure not to drink 30 minutes before or after, and I take 30 minutes to eat. I am sure I can eat 4 ounces but I'm not sure if I should.
  9. I didn't have a drain. And my incisions are covered with dermabond. I was told to just leave them alone and let them fall off by themselves.
  10. Wow! What a transformation!!!!
  11. You were motivated to get the surgery, which means you were motivated to jump through all the hoops to qualify for the surgery...I think you need to give yourself more credit. Sometimes motivation is a strong overwhelming feeling. Other times it is so quiet that it seems dormant. Irregardless, it is still there. Usually tends to show up the more we make the right choices. Follow your surgeons plans and if you haven't received enough info...Google it. There are some great plans from medical professionals on the net. Oh and I had the surgery 12/16
  12. Southern food is difficult. Maybe broiled catfish/red snapper or 1/2 cup mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes or 1/2 cup black eye peas, baked chicken... But yes, I think you should still go, it will make you feel more confident that you can handle eating out. I went to ruby Tuesday shortly after surgery and asked them to strain the soup of the day. They were very accommodating and the soup was delicious. More importantly, I enjoyed feeling normal and eating out with my family.
  13. i tried a new shake recipe daily on my all liquid preop diet. recipes were found by googling bariatric Protein shakes. My favorite is: Raspberry Dream 8-12 ozs Mootopia or fat free milk/almond/soy milk 1 scoop unjury vanilla Protein powder 1 tsp of seedless, fat free, raspberry preserves 1-2 tsp Torani raspberry sugar free syrup Delicious!!
  14. Wow! You look great!!!
  15. @@Disney24fan Oh that makes complete sense! It would be nice to workout with others who have been through WLS!
  16. Is your surgeon aware that this is happening? if not, please call. You will feel better after talking with a medical professional. And I'm two weeks post-op and haven't experienced that symptom...
  17. @@Disney24fan I've never heard of a bariatric gym. Can you tell me what that is?
  18. I had my surgery on 12/16...just two weeks ago and I have stalled. I'm not surprised, I actually expected it to happen awhile ago. I lost about 60 pounds prior to surgery, but was pleasantly surprised to lose 14 more in the past two weeks. I'd be happy to lose 1-2 pounds every couple of weeks as long as I reach goal by summer . So, I'm just going to keep chugging along with protein, exercise and following the food plan. I kind of want to get rid of my scale but my husband is attached to it!
  19. Typically your body will have a difficult time maintaining a losing weight for a long amount of time. It has to stop and think so to speak. You have over eaten for so long and your body has a great memory. All of a sudden you aren't introducing no where near the amount of calories you have in the past. Initially your body loses then your body enters starvation mode. It is a survival mechanism that kicks in and stores fat/water/etc..kind of like hibernating. After a while...could be days or weeks, the body adjusts and realizes there is no danger and you will lose again....until the next time your body thinks it's starving again. It is incredibly hard on the mind...sigh
  20. Seems to me that you are already setting yourself up to fail while waiting for your surgery. If you believe this about yourself, are you okay to have this surgery? I only ask because who's to say that you will follow the rules after getting the sleeve? This surgery is no joke & you can put your life in danger if you engage in binging/vomiting. Please don't get me wrong, I am not judging you in any way. Just trying to understand where your head is at. Hopefully you will bump up the number of sessions that you see with your therapist. Rather than just throw in the towel and continue these behaviors...
  21. Nope...mine is in a strategic location
  22. I'm 5'9 1/2. My highest weight was 286 and my current weight is 212. I was sleeved just recently on 12/16/14. I used to wear a size 20/22...now I am an XL/16. Hope to get to my goal weight of 170 or size 10
  23. You've got to work. My surgeons basically said the first 20-30 lbs are free. The rest you've got to work for. Think of WLS as just one leg of the stool. The other two are exercise and good food choices/quantities. By your own admission, you are missing the other two legs of the stool. Get up, and get moving. Doesn't have to be 30-45 minutes at a time. It could just be 10 minutes 3xs a day, then build from there. Regarding the food, stick with choices that are less than 15 carbs, less than 5 grams of sugar and less than 5 grams of fat. Limit yourself to a few ounces at a time and record using My Fitness Pal App. Go to work.
  24. Okay, will do. And I really want to eat deviled eggs!
