  1. Think you are doing it just as you should - liquids for a couple of days then slowly reintroduce mushie/soft food - Ice chips are good too..

Thank you sooooo much.....I have followed your advise...THANK you. I think I was feeling a little desperate...I have also restricted milk which caused me mucus and ice cold drinks which tightens my bans and NOW I am doing fine...THANK GOD!!!! I guess I just need to work with the tool instead of against it. FYI I am down 75POUNDS and of today....and THANK GOD for that tooooo!!!!!!

  2. I have a 4cc band...my first fill was 1.3cc and I lost 62.9lbs., and I had no complications. No vomiting or PBing...not as much restriction...but no problems. Well I got the bright idea to have a second fill and the doctor gave me another 1.8cc. and for the most part I PB/vomit everything up. Some days I can eat slow but regular(chicken, salad) but most of the time I can't keep Water down or a protien shake down.

What do you think is the problem???? I think I have eaten two actual meals in the last two weeks, I am not hungery, but i would like to keep something down. I can't even keep my liquid vitamins down.

PLUS I am not sure if I am PBing or vomiting. PBing I am not concerned about vomiting worries me as that can cause port and band complications.

WHOEVER HAS BEEN HERE PLEASE REPLY...I am kinda miserable...but kinda not...if that is possible.

I just pray I don't need an unfill as my doctor is in Texas and I am in NYC...ugggg!!!

  3. Yeah I am having terrible mood swings too. Yesterday I cried for hours and I'm on an antidepressant..

My friend had the gastric bypass and he said that I should expect to experience mood swings as a part of losing all the extra fat.

I don't know how true it is but he said that there is a lot of energy and emotion stored in the fat and as our bodies start to release the fat the energy and emotion start to come to the surface.

Plus we are not deadning our feelings with food anymore.

  4. Okay...I have figured out how much I can hold in my pouch. Last night was the first time i have eaten since the fill and I figured an ice cream sandwich could be considered a mushy food. Oh well I could only get half of it down...then I was super FULL...I mean I was at capacity....WOW. If I would have eaten 1 more bit I would have hurled....I as SOOOOO excited because in the past it would usually take seconds of what ever I am eating for me to get that full.

  5. Mine was sooooo painless I swear I don't think the doctor did anything. I keep asking "is that all???" "Do you know what your doing? " I am from NYC so I am naturally skeptical :-)

I have ABSOLUTLY no tollerance for pain and it didn't even hurt as much as a regular shot with a butterfly needle. Acually the needle he used was sooo thinl that I could barely see it and I didn't even bleed. He didn't nub me.....nothing...he asked me to layback...he felt for the port with his fingers and within seconds he was done...AMAZING!!! I had to drink a bottle of Water before I could leave...I brought a 20 oz next time I am bring a 8oz...so I can leave sooner.

    Oh I have a 4cc band and he put in 1.2 cc's.

  6. I am trying to figure out if I am burning enough calories to promote weight loss. How many calories to we burn when we do nothing at all?

I average 80 grams of Protein and about 1100 calories per day. But when I work out I only burn about 200 calories on the treadmill (still recouperating from surgery).

I work in front of a computer all day.

So I am wondering if I use the theory calories in vs. calories out, if I am getting enough calories out.

  7. Hi Alfie...Well I am well past mushies...I am eating solid food (chickem, steak, vegetables) but so far so good. I was very blessed to only have experienced HORRIBLE gas pain for the first week...then I upped my Water intake and started walking and the gas went away.

I am due for my first fill on November 5.

I was banded in Houston, TX by Dr, Speigel. He was great and the lap band surgery is the only surgery that he does; so he's pretty good at it.

  8. This is a question that I ask myself all the time. But it is more like "what have you done to yourself"?

When I was a child I was a model and a winning beauty pagents. But my childhood was very transiant...I am not a military kid, Mom just couldn't get it together enough to keep a stable home ...but around 13 my Mom got on drugs and I started gaining weight. I have gotten bigger every year since I was 13. Never facing "the problem". At this point I don;t even know what "the problem" is.

oh yeah....There was one stint on Weight Watcher where I lost 80lbs and gained back 100.

My Mom moved in with me in my Jounior year of college and has never left. I am 35 now. But now she mentally ill and sometime all I want to do is eat so I'll get sleepy so I don't have to deal with the fact that I am not married, no children and living with a mentally unstable and verbally and sometimes physically abusive person (Mom).

So I still don't know why I am fat.

  9. I was banded in 9/19/07 and I went did Clear liquids for 1 week, 1 weeks for mushies...but the moment I was off mushies and on to soft foods I was off and running. I figured chicken is soft...but so is eggs with cheeese and cheese dip and ranch dressing etc....

Basically I have gained back the 10lbs that I lost while on the liquid diet.

I just want to know why I am still so hungry after being banded, I am due for my first fill on November 1.

Why isn't the weight coming off quicker? I figured I would gave lost more than 10lbs.

My friends are expecting me to lose a ton of weight and I feel like I am letting them down...

    HELP!
