    Delaying surgery?

Thanks guys. I was under the misimpression that I would need more help. I asked that my husband get the day of surgery off and then the day on the weekend he usually is working so I'm not alone with the kids.

    Delaying surgery?

I was thinking that I would need help the few days. Is that wrong of me to think? I have 2 young kids. I don't think I could get the older one off to school in the am in then wait for my nanny to come but am I wrong to think I need more help than I will really need?

    NYU Weight Loss

I'm with Dr. Fielding. I am impressed with his résumé but he always seems so distracted when I see him. I know he's busy and every time I see him he always seems to be coming off an emergency or some other problem so maybe it's not fair. Anyone have insight into Dr. George Fielding? I love that he has the band himself.

    Thinking of new life

Thanks Justwatchme. I always enjoy your posts.
  10. Yesterday me and hubbie took kids for a ferry ride to an island where there were parks etc. we had about a mike walk to the ferry from our apartment in Brooklyn. I could barely make it and my foot with plantar fasciatis was killing me by the time we got to the ferry. It was hit and I really had a hard time walking around bc of foot pain and bc of my weight. I thought to myself...this time next year I will NOT be feeling like this. Made me more excited about my journey and reminded me how much I need this surgery. I want to enjoy life again.
  11. Thanks for posting this. I have the same fears.

    Waiting......

Good luck. I'm waiting too. Just submitted last week.

    Shut down!

Don't be discouraged. As long as you meet the criteria of BMI over 40 or over 35 with issues why should they not write you the letter? I had a totally new doctor refer me so perhaps you can post where you generally live and someone here can refer you to a more enlightened doctor!

    Supervised Diet

If you go to one of these bariatric centers of excellence they will be able to tell you how long the supervision will be. Perhaps at one of the seminars they give. Since you seem to be from LI call North Shore. NYU is a center of excellence as well
  16. I have Empire and they required 4 months of supervised weight loss but I did it through the surgeon's office at NYU.

    Prescribed Metabolic Supplements

Sorry but what does DFW mean?
  18. Candalen: I feel the same way. I have gained some of the weight I lost in the last 6 weeks and I just wonder how I'm going to be successful? Know you are not alone and I'm sure we aren't the only ones to think like this pre op.
  19. Even though I'm not approved yet I have a surgery date of November 4th. Yeah! Surgeon's office said approval should be in 2 weeks.
  20. Have been suffering for years with plantar fasciatis for about 3 years. On one foot I now have a heel spur. I know this is not a co morbidity according to insurance but this is just awful for me. Anyone have those symptoms subside after surgery and lose weight?

    Shame

Have been really thinking about who I am going to tell about my surgery and I have so much admiration for those here that tell everyone. But I questioned why I wouldn't tell anyone and it really comes down to deep shame about my weight. It's not just shame about the way I look. It's deeper. It's shame because I cannot control what goes in my mouth. It's intense embarrassment about having to get WLS to get my weight under control. I need to learn to overcome this shame and I'm not if it comes from having to be perfect or something deeper. I'm not sure this is a question but more something I felt I had to admit "publicly".
  23. Congrats Shantra. I have my last appointment before my surgeon sends in the docs to insurance. I'm not worried about qualifying. My BMI is well over 40. Keep us updated on approvals etc.
