  1. Ugh, I'm so nervous and yet so excited! I am just afraid of all the potential "issues" - complications, food/water not sitting well/coming up, the pain etc... And sometimes I freak out that this will be no different than when I lost 50 pounds (I need to lose about 120) on my own, and stalled out. So worried, so scared, and at the same time SO HOPING for a quick recovery and major success! Well, wish me luck!!

    Surgery TOMORROW!

Had surgery 7/21. Yesterday was HORRIBLE. Sore, very bloated and gassy, walked a lot but couldn't get rid of the gas. Tried yesterday to move to clear liquids, was so nauseous I almost threw up. Needed nausea meds, went back to just ice chips. Finally feel better today, but doc wants to keep me another night because of all of yesterday's issues. I was so looking forward to going home and being able to SLEEP. You simply cannot rest at the hospital. Still pretty tender, but coming along. Finally am tolerating liquids/broth. Just ready to get out of here.
  3. Hi Angel! I'm currently able to "eat": broth Protein shakes Popsicles Jello Low-Fat/Fat-Free Cream Soups I have tried any and all combos, and for around 75% of the day, I'm ok, but around 6-7pm I get RAVENOUS - and nothing makes the hunger abate. It's really awful and follows me to bed, keeping me up at night! I only have 2 days left, so I figure I'll just push through. Hopefully, I will come out on the other side eating the same things, I'm smaller portions, without feeling so darn hungry.
  4. Hello all, I'm new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Carmen. I'm a 37 year old wife and mommy of 2. I have struggled with weight for the last 15 years, going up and down with no success at KEEPING it off. I finally bowed to my PCP's advice, sought out a bariatric specialist, and after giving it several months of thought, decided to proceed with a RNY Bypass. I've done a ton of reading, both about the medical details and individual people's experiences. As I told my surgeon, I'm 50% excited and 50% nervous. The hardest part has been the last few days of just liquid/shakes. I'm so hungry, I can't even sleep at night. And I still have 4 days to go! Anyway, this forum was highly rated, and I'm very happy to be here to share, learn and participate in this journey with all of you! Thanks for letting me babble. Carmen
