Hi there I have crohns and have had the lap band. I, too, was not your average crohn's pt (ie: super thin), but have tolerated the procedure very well. In fact, I have been symptom free since the surgery. There are docs out there who will do the surgery. My doc said NO WAY to RNY as she felt I might need my stomach someday. Good Luck

Hi Joe My dad just had his surgery April 3rd. He turned 70 last December !
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
-
So can you !!! Just got back from visiting my dad in the hospital. He had surgery at 1:30 today and was sitting up talking, no pain meds, cracking jokes as usual. He said he felt as if he could eat a pizza right now !!!! He was getting ready to get out of bed and walk as I was leaving. I am just sooooo proud of him, words can't express. He was so brave to do this at his age. He felt he needed to get his weight under control to live a few more years. I hope a couple more decades at least. So for those about to have surgery, think about my 'ol man. He should be the poster child for the Band !!!!!!

Thanks for your well wishes Dody. My Dad is becoming somewhat nervous about the upcoming surgery, but he sees how well I have done, and he knows it will be worth it in the end. The pain, for me, was somewhat minimal, and I really never struggled with any REAL problems. I will be there when he wakes up, and will take him home the next day to care of him. Hey, he did it for me, now it's my turn !! I will keep u posted ! Keep him in your prayers.....
-
nope, they tell him he is the oldest. Other than being overweight, he is pretty healthy. Please all say a little prayer for my dad- he is a real special man.

I have lost 85 pounds since May. Two months to go before my anniversary (May 23). I do have to admit, though, things have really slowed down. I have not lost (OR GAINED) any weight in the last two months or so. We shall see....

One day I woke up and weighed 254 pounds How the hell did THAT happen??????????? -
We've all done it without thinking........I think mine was a McDonald fry....ahh the pain
-
I have swallowed gum before. A good way to prevent is to not chew it at all !!! I worried, too. If you can eat and drink no problem, then you probably passed through your band. Just keep an eye out for any symptoms
-
Good Luck Good Luck Good Luck Your surgeon should fix this problem and do so for FREE Not to mention apologizing to you for SCREWING UP Glad you finally have an answer

Hey Girl !!!! We can go through this together ! I am having my PS consult on March 17, and have all the same fears you do (despite being twice your age). We have to think positive-the insurance company will pay for this, the insurance company will pay for this (C'mon say it with me). I know I am not saying anything that hasn't been said before, but DAMN-you are my idol ! You deserve nothing but happiness and all the best that life has to offer. You have worked SO HARD for this. Now let the next step in your wonderful life begin. Good Luck and Congrats !
