Weird question. I need help.
Ok I'm almost 4 weeks post op. I've been to my 2 week dr appt already but forgot to ask the dr. He did mention that the incisions looked like they were healing ok and that I had the dissolving stitches. My question is I have what seems like a small filament sticking out of one of the new scars. Very tiny. I can barely see it. I can feel it. I tried pulling on it with tweezers but it's definitely stuck. I'm going to ask the dr about it but my next appt is in two weeks and this is driving me nuts. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

Hate food now
I tried turkey on Thursday. Came back up. I thought I had taken things slow and chewed well. Soups, puddings, and protein shakes I know are safe. Maybe later like yall say. Every week is a new challenge. This to shall pass. I'm just excited that I'm down 20 lbs since the procedure.

Hate food now
I'm almost 4 weeks post op and I have decided I don't like food anymore. I just drink protein shakes. I really can't stand the feeling that eating just a small amount of food gives me. Maybe it will get better but it's kinda sad.

foamies?
I'm 3 weeks out and had my first one last Sunday. It's amazing how fast it can go from good to bad. But now I know what it feels like. I know what I did wrong. And I hope to prevent it in the future.

Water intake
I had problems with bruising too. I think it's from the blood thinners I got right before surgery and the next two days while I was in the hospital.

Sugar
I tried a tiny piece of three musketeers bar. Really tiny. I was curious what the affects would be. No pooping or throwing up. I felt ok at first but then my stomach started hurting. Sharp pains for about 30 minutes then stopped. Really not what I was expecting.

1st Week Calories
I'm the same. Most of my calories have been with protein shakes and I can only do 2 of those a day. Less than 500 cal a day. Been this way for about 4 weeks now with the preop diet being three shakes a day and all the water I want.

5 days post op. Want real food!
Again I am frustrated with this definition of puréed food or soft foods. Some say cream soups fall in puréed. Some say it falls into soft. What's the line? My doc told me on my 10 day post op I could start taking bites of chicken and other Protein with my shake protein meals. Of course chewed 40 million times. But does that not purée pretty dang well? Other docs say no chicken for 6 weeks. They really need to set a standard across the board on this surgery. Until then it will remain in the realm of myth and magic to so many that actually need it. Sorry for my rant. I'm almost 2 weeks post op now and really wish they had cut and dry schedule along with foods that fall in that category.

1/2 Cup limit?
My doc is liberal also. At the 10 day mark he said I could start including solids at meal time. Just a bite or two. Along with my protein shake. It's like a tease.

Coconut water?
I really can't do the coconut water flavor. I tried. Really tried. I thought everyone was crazy when they said that your tastes change after the surgery but I'm a believer now. Some of the shakes I bought I can not stand the taste of them and I loved them before.

Need something new

November Surgery Dates Anyone? Let's Connect!
I did 10 days liquid diet. I knew from a ct scan earlier his year that I had fatty liver. The operation for my dr.s part took an hour and 15 minutes. He said that was pretty good. Im also glad for the 10 day diet because it got me in the mindset for after the surgery liquid diet.

When will I start feeling a little more normal
I'm 5 days post op and finally had a bowel movement. Maybe tmi. It felt great. Now I've been in the toilet three times since then. Feeling like this was a bad move

Feeling like a failure
It takes about 8 hours for food to leave your stomach. That's the most critical part. It can take up to 48-52 hrs for food to clear your body completely.

Coconut water?
Or almond milk or silk

Waiting up for 3 am feeding
I like the idea of salsa. You may not have problems with the spices.

Hospital
One thing I wish I had here in the hospital is flavored water. Not sure if they would have allowed it but it would be nice. Oh and my own protein drinks. They made me a chicken soup type of broth with the protein packet. Nasty. Too sweet. Too salty. I then asked for non flavored protein and they brought out this sweetened gel. Now I know why the broth was sweet. Only time I needed something for nausea. It was that bad. I know I need to drink the protein but I just can't stand it. So I sip my unflavored water.

November Surgery Dates Anyone? Let's Connect!
They finally got my swallow test done around noon. Around that time they brought a little ounce of water and said I could have that every two. Ok so tours later I asked when I could get some protein. They brought me an ounce of that and said I cold have an ounce an hour. After tasting it I'd rather drink water lol. They never gave me any instructions like if you drink 4 ounces an hour then I cod go home.

November Surgery Dates Anyone? Let's Connect!
My surgery was a little slower than average yesterday. High blood pressure the morning of surgery and during surgery. I slept all night on and off. No major pains except getting out of bed. Hard time peeing and they did an in/out cath to get it out. I'm supposed to get up three times today to walk. Just waiting on a test this morning to make sure there are no leaks then onto liquids. I have not drank anything since Monday around 6 pm. That also means no proteins and vitamins. I can't wait to start drinking again. Then Thursday they will discharge me. Yes two night stay. I'll be glad to get back home.

How open are you with your employer re:surgery plans?
I went the fmla route since my director really did not want me taking off for a week. I had told the director about 45 days out and she said not until December. Once I got fmla turned in her tone changed. But I work in healthcare. I expected privacy even though I did not tell her. She posted the type of leave on the schedule "fmla" so everyone started asking questions. I gently reminded the director about personal and confidential and she quickly removed it. So still only a few people at work know. Or maybe everyone knows but has just not said anything. Lol

Vegetarian/Vegan RNY Oct. 2014 surgery
That's interesting your dr won't do the surgery on vegans. There are so many source of protein now such as the unflavored that could be added to soup and broths. It would be a little more challenging by I could be done.

pre op diet
Frm my understanding its more to shrink a fatty liver, more overweight the fattier the liver. It's also to get you in the mindset of liquid diet right after surgery I surgery. I had 10 day liquid diet. And since I'm now used to just shakes and such I feel I will have a much easier time adjusting.

November Surgery Dates Anyone? Let's Connect!
Ok I'm finally awake enough to post. Surgery went well. Just took forever to get to surgery. Blood pressure was a problem so they pumped me with pills. Pain is tolerable. Not sure if it's because of pain pills or not though. Hardest part is I have not drank anything in over 24 hrs.
