    First nut appt

Yes it is exciting. Getting everything lined up. I know the three months will go by quick.
  2. Ok I have seen tons of stuff about smoking and WLS. But what about vaping? What are your thoughts? Has anyone smoked and gone to vaping for WLS? I quit smoking over 10 years ago. Part of my weight problem.

    Vaping and WLS

I just thought I would put it out there for discussion and learn what others think. Not weather vaping is healthy or not but if others do it or do Patches or vape zero nicotine. There no info out there on the options. Kinda the same with coffee or caffeine pills?
  4. My dr wants me on a 1200 calorie diet for three months. Anyone else have thus same type of supervised diet? Dang if I could do 1200 calories I would not need this surgery!
  5. Kinda what I mean is does the nut help with the dr supervised diet? My first nut appt is next week. About 2 weeks after I visited with the dr.
  6. Do I start it now or wait till my nut appt?

    surgery 7days away

The complicated ones stick in your mind the most. I saw a lot of perforated bowls working the blood bank from colonoscopies. But was it really a lot or did those just stick in my mind the most? How many were successful that I never saw? Things happen. That's why who the doctor is is very important. They will monitor you very closely and any sign of trouble get you back into the hospital.

    carbonated beverages

I believe that muscoto comes as a de Asti which is carbed and as a regular non carbed. Does anyone have problems with regular wine? Reds or whites?

    please mind your business

As a medical technologist please do not confuse a phlebotomist with a medical technologist. I perform the tests and deal with the instruments. I am certified in my field and hold a BS in my field. That being said those questions that the phlebotomist asked you were inappropriate as a medical provider and should be brought up with the lab manager or director so that this person can be educated on what is appropriate so that he/she does not ask the same questions to the next person. No medical personnel should express their feelings about a procedure unless it's your dr. I'm sorry you had to deal with this unprofessionalism.

    Colon Polyps

Thank you. I'm excited about getting this journey started. Finally have the support of my wife. I was going to try to start in January or February but I was not feeling too well in my abdomin and now I know why. If you have a family history then defiantly get looked at. My family is almost gone so I have no history to go by. But I'm thinking my dad might have had some stomach issues. If you are genetically predisposed they say by 40 you could have cancer. I was about 2 years away with one polyp. The real test is in a month to see if it has come back. If so then bariatric surgery will probably be off the table for me. So much to worry and stress about. The problem is just not knowing. There really is not much on the web about polyps before bariatric surgery. Just a tiny bit about bariatric surgery could increase the risk. But since colonoscopy is usually not required before hand the data is flawed. That's why I posted the question on here.

    Colon Polyps

Talked to the dr today and he did not seem particularly concerned about them. Said basically that he is dealing with the upper section and the polyps are in the lower section. Of course to stay on top if it all and make sure that the gi doc does the normal screenings.
  12. My first dr.s appt is in 10 minutes do I will see how it goes. But getting a colonoscopy is really easy. Change into the hospital gown. Lay on the bed. Get an iv. Say hi to the doc. And sleep. There was no awkwardness of positioning or anything. Very professional. The worst part is the prep. I'm sure just like bariatric surgery I'm sorry if this is off the original topic. The occult blood is very non invasive screen and worth it.
  13. I had my first colonoscopy 4 months ago. Found some blood in my stool and I stopped having solid stools. Just soft. The week I was to have it done I was feeling better and almost canceled. I'm glad I did not. I had 39 polyps. Doc said I was about 2 years away from some serious crap! I'm only 37. I thought I had an ulcer. And now I am on the 6 month cycle. Two good things came of this. I feel better plus I met my out of pocket max for the year and if I can get bariatric surgery done before jan 1 it's free!

    Colon Polyps

Yes all the polyps were removed tagged and sent to path. None were cancerous. I'm on the 6 month colonoscopy schedule. But should this interfere with bariatric surgery?
