I used a back massager and it really helped the gas pain!
-
I was pretty out of it for the first few days, but I did recover in a few, so you may not have many thanksgiving memories this year!
The gas pains are present, but it's not the end of the world.

Congratulations! Follow everything your doctor tells you! I liked having a heating pad for my belly, and for the intense gas back pains, I used the "shiatsu back massager", and that really helped.

Greetings, all!
I had my surgery 4 months ago today! I have had 2 fills, and as of today I have lost 29 pounds! I have reached a mini goal of hitting 180 by my birthday!
After the adjustment, I can eat about a cup of food, and am learning when to not eat one bite too many. I am so happy!

Yes, I have been doing measurements- down two inches on my waist and one on my hips.
Thanks for the advice and good wishes!

Thanks, everybody! I started tai chi again today!
-
I didn't tell my mom until a week after, when I had my post op checkup! I was afraid she'd worry herself sick looking up every complication possible!

I was banded one month ago, and saw my PA today. I'm doing great! All the little pinches and aches are normal, and I can start swimming and tai chi again! Incisions are fine (only got 2), and the port is flat.
Since I can only eat about a cup of food, and I was losing weight, we didn't even do a fill! Seems like I don't need it now, and I didn't want to start barfing. Next check in is in 3 weeks to see if I need an adjustment.
Hooray!

Hi! I was banded on July 15th. I chose it becuase it is totally reversible, and I would have anything cut out. I also heard that some sleevers' can stretch what's left of their stomach out, but I don't know how true that is.

Here is my unsolicited advice. First, stop eating yogurt. It's 12 degrees from being ice cream. Seriously, it's not good for you. Who said it was? The maker of it? Blend up some Soup you made. Much better for you. Just need a blender or immersion blender. Secondly, measure your food. Everything. Start small. You can always have more. For example. My dinner will look like this. 4 ounces of Protein. Weighed on my digital scale. Then I will have 2 measured 1/2 cups of veg. Like Beans and avocado or peas & carrots and cauliflower. I don't eat simple carbs. I am still hungry when I finish dinner nearly every time. I know that I will be ok in 15 to 20 minutes. Takes that long for my brain to get the message. Eating any more than that will make me feel miserable. Hope it helps.
Thanks, it makes a lot of sense! I just like yogurt. I'm doing much better, I have figured out that I can eat about 6-8 oz comfortably. I assume this is from swelling, sice I haven't had my first fill yet!

As a teacher, I think you should have a heart to heart with your daughter about how you feel, but most importantly, how she feels. Let her be honest. Also, remind her that the boy is only 5, and lacks the developmental "tact""that she has at 7. 5 year olds hear a lot not only from family, but classmates, TV, etc., and they just let it all hang out!
Don't feel bad for feeling bad at the moment, it's a sensitive topic.
I now teach high school, and a 15 year old who loves to hug me said, "no disrespect, but I would hate if you lost weight because you are so...fluffy! It makes you huggable!"
Fluffy, he says. The 5 years olds used to just say I was fat. I kind of like fluffy.

I'm 11 days post op, getting the hang of how much mushies I can eat, and was able to make a long subway trip with minimal pain. I walk about a mile a day.

Hi, I was banded on the 15th, and was moved to a puréed diet yesterday (23rd). I had 2 scrambled eggs, which were fine, but a few hours later I ate too much yogurt ( not sure how much ), and had a bad tummy ache for a few hours. I went with a shake for dinner.
Today I had the eggs again, in the afternoon, about 8 oz of mashed potatoes that I made with skim milk. I had some GI pain about an hour later, which passed. I just had about 7oz of refried black Beans, and so far, so good.
I guess it's a learning curve right now.

Hi there, banded on the 15th! I have 2 incisions, used a back massager for the gas pain, had a good post op visit, and have been moved from liquids to mushies.
I've been feeling better each day. I am trying to figure out exactly how much mush food to eat. I ate too much yogurt and had an awful over-full feeling for a few hours.
My incisions are healing nicely, but they are sore today.

I was just banded on July 15th by Dr. Ren. From the moment I stepped into NYU to the moment I left, I felt cared for and that the whole staff was there for me. The facility is really nice and well - appointed. I have no complaints. Dr. Ren is a true professional, and a delight to work with. She made this whole experience as comfortable as it could be.

I found that walking and a heating pad helps. I have also always had a homedics shiatsu back massager, and that really helps break the gas up! I lay on it and keep the heating pad on my tummy while laying down. It hels me a lot.

I have 2. I was told I had a tiny liver, so maybe that had soemthing to do with it? I was told to take the plastic bandage dressings off after 3 days, and I just did. It looks gross, but ok. Anyone else?

Banded on the 15th, gas pains are pretty bad today (17th), trying to walk around a lot, using a back massager, etc.
-
I was banded on the 15th and am using a normal, heating pad on my belly, and my Homedics shiatsu pillow for my back and shoulders.

I was banded on the 15th, and I think a lot of my weird feelings had to do with the anesthesia leaving my system. The pain meds knock me out, but work, and my homedics shiatsu back massager is doing wonders for the gas pain.
