Have you ever sprinkled it over baked chicken? Yummy!

OP, I don't see any reasons in your post that indicate why you want the surgery and many many reasons why you don't. It doesn't read like you have doubts. It reads like you don't want it but for some reason can't just say that. This is elective surgery so you certainly don't have to have it. It your choice. Maybe some time in the future you will decide you are ready to utilize the surgery route. Maybe not. Either way it's all good. I was 62 with HBP, diabetes, sleep apnea, etc before I decided to move forward with surgery. 1 month out 29 lbs down from where I started and feel great. Only wish I did it when I was younger. But I did quit smoking 20 years ago. That's something you should work on even if you don't have surgery???? Good luck either way!

Dec. sleevers.. I saw a topic about this but lost it? Anyone out there yet for dec. surgery?
Debbie Jean replied to kymmiej11's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved the 23rd so I may be later than you. Average is about 550-650. My nut said not to focus on that though since with the size of the stomach acts as a control. She wants me to work on getting 60 grams of protein and 64 of water. I'm also beginning to incorporate more veg fruit and complex carbs. Just trying to learn to balance everything with the smaller appetite. -
Doubts are part of the territory, I think. I know I had them. I lost 13 lbs on my preop diet. First thing my 84 year old mother said was "look how well you are doing. You don't really need the surgery". Here's the deal though. I can lose it. Done it. Again and again. Can't keep it off. I explained that this was a decision based on the recommendation of my doctors who had spent months preparing me. I trust they have the knowledge to advise me and are acting in my best medical interest. A 22 year old simply doesn't have the training or knowledge to give you advice. He is talking from the guts and his very limited experience. And he's your son and your his mama. Good luck with your decision. Just make it for good reasons.

Were you weighed the day of your surgery?
Debbie Jean posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was weighed just before I went to the OR. After reading some threads I see that not everyone is actually weighed the day of surgery. Question? Were you weighed before surgery and if not what do you use as your "start weight"? -

Hang tough! Praying everything goes well with your appointment today ☺️ -
It's really interesting how doctors/nut vary on the issue of coffee, isn't it? Some offer in the hospital while some say never again!

Dannon fit and light greek has flavored yogurts that are smooth without chunks like key lime or banana cream. There are other brands of flavored yogurts as well. At the beginning you just want to stay away from anything with "bits" in it. You can of course add flavorings like Tirani syrup and sweeteners to plain yogurts if you prefer.

What do you use as your start weight? -
My doctor allows coffee when discharged. Haven't had any issues.

I can have a piece of toast on Wednesday! Already planning. Gonna have it with a little reconstituted PB2. ☺ ️Don't know why that makes me so happy but it does LOL Lets see how much of it I can eat...

Pain was very manageable. Slept in my own bed the first night I was home. -
Mine doesn't use them either.

Mine was similar to what others have mentioned. He also wanted to make sure I had realistic expectations and understood that the surgery was a tool, not a magic pill.

Curious -- could you have done it without Weight Loss Surgery?
Debbie Jean replied to Vikingsfan8178's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If you want to know how to lose weight, ask a fat person. Most of us are experts on how to lose: calories, carbs, we can rattle them off at the drop of a hat. The problem is keeping the weight off. My high weight as an adult was 287 my low 135. Lost 100+ lbs twice in my life only to gain it back. I took my first diet pill at 10 and have spent my whole life on countless diets. You name it I've done it. At 62 I decided the sleeve was my last best chance at not just losing the weight but KEEPING it off. -
How do you take pills!
Debbie Jean replied to NewMeLinZ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First check with your surgeon whether there is a protocol for medications. See whether any that you take are available as liquids. My doctor said no swallowing pills week 1 after surgery so I simply crushed the meds I took. If you have capsules, you can empty them into a little liquid or apple sauce. Weeks 2-4, I can swallow anything smaller than my little finger tip. I was able to swallow a couple, but one larger one I continued to crush. Resume as normal after that. Don't worry, I'm sure working with your doctors you will be able to continue with your meds ???? -
My mother was the one person who simply didn't understand my choice of WLS. Mind you I'm 62 and she's 84 so some things never change LOL I told her that while I appreciated her concern, my doctors were the ones with the medical expertise to best advise me. My surgeon, endocrinologist and pulminologist all agreed this was the best course of action for my health. In fact my PCP had the VSG last February. I'm 2 weeks out from surgery and now that all is said and done she has accepted my choice and does in fact see the benefits. I came home off all diabetes meds and haven't had to restart them! Even she can't argue with that ????

Ah! Penny! Why?!?!?(My 600 lb life)
Debbie Jean replied to Kramer17's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Reality TV is descended historically from the traditional soap opera. Obviously both genres are scripted. They are meant to be entertainment. I don't think that comes as a shock to people in this day and age. And it doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed like any other form of entertainment. ???? -
Ah! Penny! Why?!?!?(My 600 lb life)
Debbie Jean replied to Kramer17's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I really appreciate the journeys that these people share. Some are so inspiring, some frightening and some like Penny, infuriating. But she is a poster child for why WLS is not a magic pill or the easy way out. That is clearly the attitude she had. It is a great demonstration of the fact that surgery is a tool and will not work unless YOU put the work in. Looking forward to the new season! -
I'm only 2 weeks out so its not an issue now. But I will admit that I do love a piece of toast with my egg in the morning.
-
5 months almost to the day. I didn't have to do any special diet for insurance and was approved in about 10 weeks. The delay occurred because I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in preop testing and the surgeon required clearance from the pulminogist. I had to successfully use my CPAP for 2 weeks before I got that final clearance.

Any sleevers in Northern NJ?
Debbie Jean replied to Shell88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
After trying lots I found the Premixed Pure Protein the best for me. I add some sugar free Tirani Syrup to switch up the flavors. Got the holiday collection from Amazon which includes peppermint ginger snap hazelnut and caramel. Not only great in Protein drinks but awesome in coffee ???? -

Sleeved at Valley 12/23 by Beth Schrope. Hospital is great, all private rooms. She's fantastic! Worst pain I've had was getting through the 2 week preop diet LOL I'm so ready to dump the purées and get on to some real "chewing"! Best wishes to all on your journey ☺️
