Thought eating was getting better, but going backwards?
Debbie Jean replied to FrankyG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you sure they said to get in 1400 calories NOW? I can see that later but not at 6 weeks. I'm about where you are and I don't have a calorie goal. 60 g of Protein and 64 oz of Water. In fact my NUT said not to worry about calories because at this stage with my sleeve I couldn't consume more than 800 calories anyway. I've found that to be true since I'm usually around 600 a day. -
do you crush all your medications?
Debbie Jean replied to boosh10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to crush all pills for a week then allowed to swallow anything smaller than tip of little finger. Cleared to swallow all pills at 3 weeks. Crushed pills = YUCK!! ???? Protocol varies widely though so check with your surgeon. My rule is that while it's interesting to see what other people do the only opinion that is ultimately important is my own doctor and nutritionist ???? -

Saw my Dr. On Friday and I have two things left before I can schedule
Debbie Jean replied to jenjen262's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, I had to take it with me to the hospital. They had me use it the one night I stayed. Still on the CPAP though I'm hoping that's one of the things that I will be able to discontinue when I've lost enough weight. Honestly I fought having the sleep study done for years because I and my PCP suspected sleep apnea. I realize now that I'm accustomed to the mask that I sleep so much better and feel so much more rested. What would be great is to feel so well without the CPAP LOL Fingers crossed that will be coming soon. -

The sleep study was what caused delays for me. If you are diagnosed with sleep apnea and need a CPAP machine this can set you back several weeks. Second sleep study to find the right CPAP settings then getting the equipment set up, etc. My surgeon wouldn't operate until I was cleared by the pulminologist (sleep doc) and he wanted me on the machine for 2 weeks prior to surgery. Set me back about 6 weeks with scheduling all the tests visits etc Hopefully you won't be diagnosed and can sail through. Now that I've had the surgery I'm ok with the delay. But I was pretty pissed at the time! Lol -

Problem with health care costs in US
Debbie Jean replied to nprcowboy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So Jenbaby75 knows people and that translates to "fact"? Thank goodness you're not one of my students. Please provide an objective citation from a credible source to support your position. Until you do it's an opinion. The dictionary is your friend. Check it. If you want opinions I'll give you mine. National chains are killing local pharmacies. Stop going to CVS Walgreens Rite Aid or whatever there is in your neck of the woods. BTW its a variation of the Malls are killing Main St problem. If you want small businesses to flourish stop going to the malls and large chains. Patronize them. Get everyone you know to patronize them. Good for you having nice insurance. I'm old and am grandfathered in to a "Cadillac" policy. I pay $250 deductible per year. Thats it. Nothing more. I know people who before the ACA had nothing. This has been such a blessing for these people. None of them is getting my kind of insurance. But they can see a doctor when they are sick and not wind up in the ER with pneumonia followed by a 2 week hospitalization which I will pay for in my billing fees etc. As people who actually work in the medical business have said no one with insurance pays those usurious prices as billed. The hospital billed my insurance $36,000+ and settled for $6500. I expect something similar when the other bills come in, surgeon, anesthesiologist etc. Read your EOB. What ticks me off is that if the above is considered a fair reimbursement, the people who self pay should be getting this discounted rate as well at the same Center of Excellence hospital I did outside NYC. Reading this forum however tells me that is not the case. -
Happy dancing for you! ????good luck!
