I don't know where to actually put this, but I guess I'll put this here since I am no longer a candidate for this surgery.

After all my research into this, the appts., and the realization to what outcome I actually wanted my Doctor and I decided that WLS isn't for me at this moment When I started this over a year ago I wanted to become healthier before all the health issues came that they say comes along with being fat. However, I never wanted to become a slim woman, just a healthier full figured woman. Since then, I've changed my eating habits a great deal(which I love a lot), I don't even have to push myself to exercise daily(it's just something that comes as natural as not drinking soda), I've quit smoking, and I find myself 60lbs(and counting) lighter without it being a burden to me. Since, I am not getting the surgery I don't know if it's appropriate if I stay..

I came across a blog once which had the tagline: "Raised Republican. I can help myself, thank you." Love it!

So, I guess they don't believe in Corporate Welfare, or Farming subsidies, either.

You seriously, seriously think this child didn’t know what birth control was and that had she been instructed as to what it was and how to use it, she wouldn’t be pregnant right now? Seriously? In the world she lives in?

Not in her particular situation, since her and her boyfriend was living together and it was condoned by her mother. Also, this child seemed to have done thid on purpose.

Who is to say she wasn't protecting herself? Condoms breaks. pills can fail. Believe me I have *two* wonderful surprises due to both of those things. Luckily I was a little bit older than Spears when this happened to me. And none of it had to do with my parenting. I have wonderful parents that did teach me about the consequences of my actions. I think most parents today would be absolutely shocked to find out what their kids are doing behind their backs. They would be shocked that their 16 year old is having sex, which unfortunately has become the norm lately. Most parents are going to think "not my baby".

You are the exception to the rule, but not all teenage pregnancies result in teen taking the necessary precautions before intercourse. Also, if condoms break that much, and the BC pills are faulty also..then what's the point..right!

Check the files of any social agency or police force.....Meth addicts of ANY stripe do NOT have a good history of fulfilling the responsibilities of parenthood.

I was a social worker for nearly 7 years. First hand exposure to such a high percentage of single parent homes having large unsolvable problems was quite convincing that 'fathers in the home' was more often an advantage than 'fathers NOT in the home'.

Graduate level research demonstrated consistently for decades that an intact family has greater emotional, financial and personal resources to provide the greatest nurturing structure....in the greater percentage of families. Not to imply single parents can't or don't manage to do it, just that their odds are longer and the hill they climb is steeper.

The actual case-count demonstrates the increased complexity and difficulty in single parent homes. And right or wrong, issues surrounding homosexual parenting add to the difficulties of rearing children. Parenting is a most difficult job.

Studies mean nothing when you factor in actual people. I am a result of a single parent home. I've never been in any trouble, nor have I used drugs. I am not lacking in any emotional stability, or financial. I have friends who had both parents in the home who are more screwed up than my friends who were reared by single parents. Two parent homes that aren't stable isn't a great place to raise a child either. Gay or lesbian parents would not have half the trouble rearing their kids if 1. folks would leave them alone and give them equal rights, and 2. If heterosexual people would mind their damn business and teach their kids that there is nothing wrong with little Joey, or Kaitlyn just because he/she has two moms or two dads.

My meth parents were an example, but child protective services give drug addicts too many chances to screw up their kids lives!!

This is all her mom's fault for letting her shack up with her boyfriend, and then not educate her on how to protect HERSELF from pregnancy as well as STD'S!! WTF!! However, this has nothing to do with hollywood and too much sex on tv...girls have been getting knocked up at an early age since before there was tv!! Only in the past 10-20 years have it become something they weren't ashamed about. Sex ed of today is a joke, you cannot teach abstinence BS to these kids in this day and age. Sex can kill you now, getting a happy feeling can kill you, but no those fundamental Christians want to go back to 1950, and act like STD'S don't exist. I can understand the outrage to some extent. However, if you're instilling the RIGHT thing's in your kids then they will follow, then lead by example. Yes, it is a horrific thing that this child is pregnant...but to say she is setting some harmful example for young girls is absurd..especially if their parents are doing the shit they're suppose to do as parents. Like, teaching their kids if they absolutely have to have sex..PROTECT THEMSELVES!! Britney, Jaime Lynn, rappers, mags, and movies aren't the ones causing HIV to rise in alarming rates among teens..it's their parents lack of Educating them about SEX, Condoms, as well as abstinence. Teens are smart enough to know how to use their special parts especially when they're hormones alert them they are awake! Most parents think like Lynn Spears "Not My Baby" instead of taking the necessary steps to protect, and educate them about what's there!!

During the Republican you tube debate they had chances to answer questions about black on black crime and poverty, Romney said "THEY need fathers in the home." Huckabee said "He provided funding for Black illnesses such as HIV," so I don't think it was as simple as him not understanding AIDS..by 1991 there was enough information around for you to know how you contracted HIV, how it evolved into AIDS, and and how to stay safe.

I would like to add that raising kids in a mother, father setting might seem like the only way..because it's the ONLY way some people want to consider. If two Heterosexual Meth addicts have a child and raise it..I bet them being addicts is ok because it's a man and a woman!

It's ok as long as she is on tv and you can't see how she interacts with EVERYONE! I don't know what it means to talk black or white, but I do know what it means to speak with diction, and clear pronunciation. I think that everyone can pick up a Southern accent when they visit the south, or have visitors from the south. If you saw off a boob, an arm, and a limb you will be taken to an institution (after you go the hospital). You can't take any drug you want, and you certainly can't sell your body in most states in the US. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's the law.

You know, there are a lot of things the government doesn't allow us to do with our bodies. If you go to a hospital and ask them to chop off your arm, they won't. You can't take certain drugs or drive while intoxicated. So we really don't "own" our bodies, as much as we might like to think we do. We certainly can't sell them in most parts of the US. In the case of abortion, not only are we not talking about our "own" bodies (which we don't "own"), there's another person's body involved.

Why would you go to the hospital to get your arm chopped off...when you can clearly do it at home, if you are that nuts!! I own my BODY and if I want to saw off a boob, an arm, and a limb I can do it or get someone else to do it...Please don't try to insult my intelligence with ludicrous scenario's. You can take any drug and drive high and drunk it you want to, but you stand the risk of endangering other people on the road, plus yourself for being so idiotic!!

Let me see if I can help you out a little more with this concept, in case you never took a science class in school. The sperm has 100% of the father's DNA, just like his arm or his liver or any other body part. The egg has 100% of the mother's DNA, just like HER arm or HER liver or any other body part. When the sperm and egg come together during sexual intercourse (I'm not going to explain that one; you'll have to look it up yourself), they create a wholly different entity with his or her OWN DNA. A different egg and sperm combination would create a DIFFERENT human being. That newly created human being has all of his or her own blueprints for all of his or her own traits -- hair color, eye color, height, etc. -- that are separate from the mother's and the father's and also any other siblings that have been or might be created through the same process of sexual intercourse and conception. The baby is not a clone of one parent, nor is the baby a clone of his or her siblings. The baby is not an egg and the baby is not a sperm. He or she is the unique and unreproducible result of the combination between the two.

Imagine if we all were able to be the deciders on when human life begins. You've got a group of 20-somethings standing around. One says, "My mother thought I was a human being when she felt me kick at 5 months in the womb, so that's when my life began." Another, "My mom didn't consider me a human being until my feet exited the vaginal canal, so that's when I was a human being." Another, "My dad was the Nobel prize laureate James D. Watson, who doesn't believe human life begins until 3 days after birth, so that's when I was a human being." Another, "My dad was a Nobel prize laureate too, Francis Crick, and he said a baby shouldn't be declared human until it passes certain genetic tests, so I wasn't a human life until I passed those tests."

How ridiculous! Human life begins when human life begins, at conception. We can argue about the VALUE of that human life (which is precisely what the abortion debate is about), but to argue that it doesn't exist is ludicrous.

Yes, how ridiculous indeed!! Human life begins at Birth...When it doesn't need the mothers WOMB to survive! Fertilized eggs that are frozen until they are implanted in a woman's uterus is not considered a human being, and the sane goes for other fertilized eggs...They're embryo's...

I can't speak to how people fallaciously used the Bible as an argument for slavery, but, curiously, it was people of faith (Christians) who fought quite hard to end slavery in the US.

And, yet again I will state, my position on abortion has nothing to do with faith, religion, the presence or lack of a soul. It is 100% based on the humanity of the unborn. You don't have to be a Christian to be pro-life. There are many athiests who are also pro-life.

About 20 pages back when I said that people used the Bible to justify slavery..you told me I was making things up. No a few people of faith, might have tried or wanted to end slavery. However, there were A LOT of Christians who owned, whipped, raped, and purchased slaves--slaves to work their tobacco fields, cotton fields, little slave kids had to play with the masters kids...Where was the outcry..

Bottom line, abortion isn't an immoral thing to have to all people. It's just a few people who feel they should tell someone what to do with what's growing inside of their body...that they actually have ownership over. Like we didn't give up enough civil liberties already, let the crazy republican Presidential candidates have their way!! I don't understand a President who is Pro-life, but cut's funding to WIC to exclude over 500,000 woman and children. So, yes let's take away abortion rights, cut health care funding to kids, cut WIC... Hey we don't care how they live or are taken care of as long as their moms don't ABORT them, right!!

My daughter's nail tech asked me months ago to make her two formals for December weddings. I said "Yes.", thinking she would bring me a pattern and fabric. Instead I get a photo out of a magazine of a designer dress!

I've put it off til the last minute and am avoiding working on the first one like crazy -- (Anyone notice how much I've been posting the last couple of days?) -- haven't even THOUGHT about the second one.

Now I'm considering doing something I've never done in over 25 years of sewing -- I'm going to add in an UPCHARGE for having to come up with a pattern and track down the fabric myself! Is that reasonable? I mean any other 'custom' job you do, there are premiums you pay for. I only quoted her a BASE PRICE anyhow.

My husband says I'm just bitter because I realize she charges more for two mani-pedi's that take her a couple of hours than I quoted her for a dress I've spent weeks avoiding, days researching and hours just getting set up!

Will someone KICK me next time I take on a custon job? I've quit it more times than I can count!!!!!

I love to shop, especially for myself. With the Holiday shopping season upon us I find myself lacking the enthusiasm to shop for others. Am I being selfish? No matter what immediate family comes first. I don't have kids and I usually buy the kids first, then the adults...and if I am seeing someone I'll pick them up something along the way. By this time last year I was almost finish, and gearing up for Black Friday...this year nothing, and having even thought about going shopping Friday. What is wrong with me? I have purchased me a few new outfits for work and play, because I look ridiculous in size 28 clothes, now. Sharing this with my best friend she let me know it's because I have grown this "all about me" attitude since I lost a few pounds(42 to be exact), and that I am more conceited and self-centered now. Maybe when I was turned away at the club because I no longer looked like my photo..I shouldn't have done a happy dance... I am not even banded yet, (I joined a few exercise programs and changed my eating habits when my ex(with the same insurance as I) was put on a mandatory six month diet). I was talking about my close friends. My regular friends that I have known most of my life, but since we all dont live in the same town anymore we dont get to see each other, are more diverse. In Corpus most of my friends were gay and not black. But from my hometown some of my black friends that are girls are lesbians, yes.

I have multiple categories of people I have met.

1. Best friends = one gay one straight

2. Close Friends= mostly gay, a few straight

3. Friends=very diverse

4.Acquaintances(sp?)=more diverse

5. People that I dont like=diverse

Plus the rarity (like me) when one culture's feature do an extreme overtake of the others, and that person looks more white or black or asian or hispanic, whatever. My mother looks VERY hispanic (dark hair, skin, eyes) and my dad is darker complected with dark hair and eyes (as for the rest of my family that I know), YET I have Blond (light) hair, Hazel eyes (usually green), and VERY fair skin as well as a different body type than ANYONE in my family. Basically the Jewish part of my heritage reared its head, but since Im mixed up with God only knows what I somehow inherited an odd mix that does not go with the rest of my family. I look different than everyone at reunions on either side. Its as if I dont fit in, like I am a strange onlooker, but Im full blood with them. Yet Im very white, Blond and everything....So the color of skin definately would not be consistant **** Notice nothing about the black men who sexually...

I disagree, ask any of my black girlfriends if they would rather be called the "n" word or the Big C bomb! Bet they choose the "n" word... I believe that the C word is possibly the most controversial and powerful word in the english language. If you EVER want to see a 85 pound anorexic or a 350lb woman go psycho on someone (especially a man) and muster up the energy and strength of a pro-wrestler....Bust out the C word (whether joking or not) SEE WHAT HAPPENS THEN...At least the "n" word is used in casual (hopefully not formal) situations in a joking manner and with other black people, however women USUALLY (there are always exceptions) NEVER joke with the "c" word

I don't live a fantasy life, trust me. I asked a question, got different answers, opinions, and even a mean pm. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, however when you use justifications like "my black friends don't mind" and "where I live it's a term of endearment" and "Stella Byrd has me to dinner often" as reasons to continue the use..then that's when I take issue. I take issue with the fact that you dismissed the seriousness of James Byrd's murder as a drug deal gone bad, that you are quite ignorant to American History when there are libraries to further your knowledge...I take extreme issue with the fact that you're ok with your way of thinking, and don't want to think outside the box, or even worse your small town mentality. Everyone on this thread has tried to enlighten and educate you, but you ignorantly declined. It's very sad that someone who is allegedly pregnant doesn't want to improve the world they will bring this baby into. This makes me wonder what happen to the "No Child Left Behind Funds" alloted to Texas!!!
