At the end of the day having surgery is your choice and you can decide who knows and doesnt know. I too was concerned about people " talking" about me, the band, and my sugery in case i didnt lose the weight. I solved that problem by not telling People. I only told my family and my bf at the time, the people who i KNEW would support me. Three years later although i havent lost all the weight i LOVE my band and am comfortable with talking about it. i had PCOS i was banded in 2009. i was put on metformin but due to side affects (unpleasent) ones i decided not to continue with them. I started Birth Control and that seemed to make my periods come regular. I was also told i would need medication and treatments to be able to concieve that i wouldnt be able to do it on my own. In 2009 i lost 40 pounds after having my lapband surgery and in March of 2010 i found out i was pregnant! i truly believe it was the lapband and loosing weight that helped me concieve.

Ive been totally thinkin about those hcg drops and want to try it but been kinda iffy if its okay to do those types if diet with the band. Although i count calories i still eat whatever i want except for soda, cakes, and breads as they tend to get stuck. I would love to hear if anyone has tried the hcg diet and see how it has worked for them!

Banded since 2009 i try to stay between 1000 and 1200 but on a bad day i go 700-800. I was told anything below 1200 your body is starving itself and you store fat instead of burning it.

How exciting my daughter was a "lapband baby" shes healthy, happy, smart, and growing. Although I cant speak about the IVF part I can tell you I was a high risk pregnancy because of my band in which I required special attention and montering of it. Your DRs will have to work close together to make sure you are getting good nutrition for yourself and your growing baby. A unfill is not uncommen but if you and your baby are growing fine then you dont have to be unfilled. Good Luck to you and enjoy your pregnancy.

Welcome! i too am struggling with getting back on track after giving birth to my child and neglecting my band. Its feels so much harder the second time around, I would like to wish you luck and offer you my support and know that if it was done once it CAN be done again! Track everything you eat, make healthy choices. If you like to snack at night you should consider a snack high in Protein. My go to protein is cottage cheese and i usually find that if i do eat my protein im fulller longer. Good luck to you <3 Angel

Doesnt hurt at all! Dr feels around for your port pokes you (quick) weird part for me is i can always feel the fluid when it is being taken out and being put in and the tightening. Its usually extremely FAST, they give you a bandaid but ive personally never had bleed ( but its possible) Then i get a sip of water to make sure i can swallow if i can im good to go if i cant im readjusted with fluids removed. I would get a fill over blood drawn any day!!

Each dr is different i had my first fill at 6 weeks and i see my dr every 6 weeks for a check up/ fill if i need it. Right now ur stomach us getting use to having the band around it still a bit of swelling and your still just getting use to your new eating habits and such. Hang in there, follow your drs instruction and diet when you get your fill you will see the pounds come off!! Good luck to you and just hang in there.

Im in the same boat!! Now After having my daughter im having a harder time loosing weight then i did the first time after surgery. Recently had a fill and lost 2 pounds first week of fill. Calorie intake is about 700-800 for the day with most of that being protein i get about 64g of it a day. I admit i could do more for exercise but after falling off the wagon im slowly getting back on. Wish you luck ladies!!

i was banded in July 2009 and found out i was pregnant in March 2010 i had my daughter in dec 2010. i havent seen my lapband dr since 2010 bc i moved to NY and now im back in MA where i was banded i see him on thursday for the first time in years kinda dreading it idk how he will react to me basically breaking every "rule" i agreed to before i was banded but we shall see. during my pregnancy i had about 4CCs and no unfills i ended up with a dialated esophogus and am not loosing anything but not gaining either. Right now im also starting over and going back to basics and i feel no restriction what so ever, do you?

Waited 6 weeks and every 6 weeks to get an adjustment! Once u start moving into the other food stages your hunger will start to lessen. This period is important ur in the healing process and your stomach is getting use to having a band around it. Eating foods u arent suppose to eat can cause harm.

the lapband does not need to come out but as stated before you might need to be unfilled to allow proper nutrition for yourself and the baby. i had my daughter after my lapband. I had about 4 CCs in my band the whole pregnancy big mistake! i now have a dialated esphogus. Your at or close to goal weight so gaining weight during pregnancy is normal and your lapband can be filled shortly after giving birth to resume your weight loss.

I want to stick with my band i objected another surgery. Im having a hard time with over eating and skipping meals when im not hungry. Portion control is way off and when i am hungry im extremely hungry! I know the difference between head hunger and actually being hungry... I stop eating just dont feel full. Any suggestions?

okay so heres the deal i had the lapband done in July of 09 moved to nyc nov of 09. surprised by baby news marck of 2010 (i know what was i thinking) heh i wasnt. lapband baby delivered dec. 16th 2010 healthy beautiful baby girl Jaiyana Delia. my dilemma i havent had a fill since december of 09. crazy huh? i know i have my first drs appt for my band on august 23 and i CANT wait. im looking to get back into the swing of the lapband lifestyle and im looking for people to talk to and keep in communication with. i look forward to seeing peoples pictures and reading stories please feel free to send me messages

Restless thank you so u much! i realized that it was something i shouldnt not have done. i feel so much better today. i guess what i need to do is find an alternate for the Soup since i dislike it so much. any ideas?

i know exactly how you feel denoument, i was banded on july 22nd 2009 and i feel very crappy irritable stressed, in pain, miserable. constant burpin gas thatwnt come up. broth isntmyfavorite it has been i had some soupy mashed potatoes only like 3table spoons. i regret it! the gas is sopainful it takes my breathe away when i cant burp. Does anyone know if this can cause potential problem?

I'm wondering girls who had big butts before after the band what happened to it? I'm spanish i have a great tush nice and round im afraid after lap band it'll go flat :tongue: what are the chances of that?
