  1. I"m walking !!!! No way can I train to run. and Sue. My cousin wants to do a 5k in CT or NY for her 40th which is next year. so I'll be on the east coast Peek.. where are you ?
  2. MJ - half days at a week out would be good. Don't go into it too fast. You will have low energy because you're on liquids.
  3. Peek !! Come on, lets do it !!
  4. Thanks guys ! I do have a training schedule ! The half marathon is February 28th, so that I will have lost a significant amount of weight, and if I'm training at a heavier weight, it should be a bit easier. Most of the training days are 3 - 4 miles, which I'm doing now. Then on the weekends you add a mile. I'm feeling confident I can do it !!
  5. Please go get counseling !!! The divorce rate is sooooo high for bariatric patients. You can't lose 100+ pounds and not expect things change. Especially if you're having some issues already. Counseling will help a tremendous amount. And talk to her, tell her divorce rate is high and that you love her and you're in this together and you are wanting to do counseling to make sure there's no problems down the road. If she's not interested, at least get it for yourself. I definitely went before I started this journey, right before surgery, and I will go at any hint of problems personally or relationship wise. Very important to have a good head on your shoulders !!! HUGS ! You're doing the right thing seeking advice here I wish you the best !!!!!
  6. Awesome Sue ! Great job !!! You know, I'm going to CT/NY this summer. My cousin and I both turn 40. We are talking about doing a 5k! Maybe you could join us !
  7. Hey Everyone !! So I've been walking a lot! 3 - 4 miles each time. So today I went out to dinner with a friend and she's running the half marathon. After a lot of talking, I decided that I will walk the half marathon !! 13.1 miles ! I can do this !!!! and I will do this !! Has anyone else done this and can you give any tips or advice?
  8. So I have some big news ! Since I'm walking 3 - 4 miles at a time, I signed up for a half marathon - 13.1 miles in February !! So I do have to train.. but I know i can do this ! I'm so damn excited. I got it ! I want my 13.1 sticker !!
  9. @ you're still pretty early out ! Check with your doctor, but your body just went through a lot with major surgery and anesthesia. I'm sure it's all out of whack !!
  10. @ is it right after you eat? Have you asked your DR about that? I don't remember a lot of people having that.. but you might want to ask in the post op board ! I'm sure there's many many people who have had that happen Congrats on your new tummy !!
  11. Congrats to our October 1st Sleevers for your Month Surgiversary !!!!! WTG !!! Make sure you take your measurements and your before and after pictures !!!!! Every month. Because when you stall, you'll have your pics to show you are still losing !!! HUGS Everyone !!!!! oooh and I had my first Deviled Egg last night. It was sooooooo yummy ! I had 2 halves. It was great
  12. @@elturner - Are you taking your Vitamins yet? @@pra59 - Congrats on getting sleeved !!! How are you doing? @@mjmboston - Congrats on being scheduled ! Bring Chapstick, walk, walk walk, and when you don't want to, walk some more ! That helps with the gas and makes healing better and get better circulation. Buy different single servings of Protein drinks, and find what you like. Also realize that your taste may change. So what may taste wonderful after being sleeved, might not taste wonderful a week later. And did I mention walking? That's the best !! You'll be tired, you won't want to.. but just do it !!! And realize no matter what, you're recovering, you're going to have some aches and pains, but the sooner you get off the pain meds, and get to walking, the better ! This is just my opinion. congrats again !
  13. @@Vsglady OMG your'e so funny !!! I'm sorry you had some issues !!! But I"m so glad you're happy with the surgery !! It's amazing huh? You can't believe it really happened !!
  14. Congrats on being sleeved! I'm like you.. I share experiences because it helps others.
  15. @@elturner ... I had my surgery 16 days ago. I lost 12 lbs in a week, then gained 2. In the past 9 days I would lose those two pounds, gain those two pounds and stall on many days.... I felt like it was just like every other diet I was on .. I was not going to lose, that I failed this surgery. But honestly, our bodies are adjusting. I know you don't want to hear that, and I didn't want to hear that, but it's the truth!. So what is getting me through it? Look at the success board, or look at the veterans boards. Look how much weight everyone has lost. They have all gone through stalls and made it through. This is part of the process and we just have to go through it Just hang in there.. and don't get depressed.. because everyone has made it through and so will you !!!!
  16. Who said they were going to move this board? The address already changed to Monthly Gastric Sleevers ... I don't think this board is going anywhere...
  17. Laughing my butt off = LMBO ...Peek ! I had hummus today, and my egg, and a cup of vanilla milk. Also go in my GENEPRO Protein Powder ! Which is perfect timing since I can't handle any more Protein shakes. I also went shopping at five places today... Party City, Michaels, Vitamin Shoppe, Halloween Store, and Grocery store.. I"m telling you.. I was about to fall asleep at the grocery store ! Rest this evening !!!
  18. Kim, that's exactly what I did. A scrambled egg, tiny amount of cheese, touch of ketchup, and touch of pepper.
  19. @@trvlgrl I haven't tried Kefer. Sorry !
  20. That was the most awesome scrambled egg ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! omg yum yum !
  21. So my Dr told me to do the transition this week and do full liquids in the morning and purees in the evening. Now I would follow it to a T, if it wasn't for the fact Protein shakes are making me very very sick. So I'm sitting here .. for some unknown reason.. scared to go cook me an egg lol Such a weird feeling LOL
  22. @@KarenF1972 If it persist , then you might want to talk to your doctor. Otherwise maybe just chalk it up to natural healing. We did just put our bodies through a lot.
  23. For thanksgiving... Enjoy your friends and family. They will inhale a plate of food in 20 minutes while we can take our time with ours and enjoy it just as much ! And we don't have to make ourselves sick. Maybe focus on decorating for Christmas, or watch football, or just talking about something different. We got this !!
  24. As some have said the divorce rate after surgery is high. Not necessarily because someone has more confidence... there's MANY Factors... But you can take a person, have them lose a significant amount of weight, and not expect THINGS to change. Here's some of the things... there's a lot more - WL person has more energy and wants to do more. Spouse hasn't changed and so a separation begins - Spouse becomes jealous ... either they can't lose weight, or of other people.. or hundreds of different reason for them o be jealous - WL person is getting more attention and not sure how to handle it - Change of interest from WL individual. - biggest. Non communication about the issues and feelings of the changes the WL person is having. PLEASE.. if you are thinking of having surgery or just had surgery. Get counseling. Make sure your spouse and you have a good head on your shoulders. If problems come up, get yourself to counseling before things escalate.
