  1. I mentioned this site to Terri back in October. They were trying to get a link to this site from his website. I thought that was a good idea for those that were thinking of having the surgery to get some answers and see how sucessful we have been. I think people feel better when they talk to someone who has been thru somthing they are thinking about doing. But gagirl, you are right this will make it more inviting to Dr B's pts from all over. Great idea!

  2. Sometimes when you have inflammed tissue it starts the inflammatory process to surrounding tissue also. It does not always mean infection. It will feel warm to the touch simply because the inflammatory process produces heat. Don't let this upset you. Take the antibiotics and keep an eye on the area. If you can keep your bra off the area and see if that helps.

  3. ok, i sent them, see what you think. It looks alot like broken blood vessels, but the more I look at them, the more worried I get. What the heck could this mean? I sent terri an email asking could she move my appt up to this afternoon and I would just go- My health is more important than work.

Mia, have you been wearing a bra that rubs against your port insertion site. If so it may just be irritated due to that. I know it took me a while to get used to my bra against my site.

  4. We would love for you join us on the 7th! 30 lbs is nothing to be ashamed of. Remember, not everyone loses fast. I tend to lose in spurts. I just recovered from not losing anything in a whole month. It's very easy to get discouraged when we hit plateaus, but remember, it will pass.

I know exactly what you mean about finding time to exercise. I have a soon-to-be 2 year old, and I'm a SAHM too! Before I was banded, I grazed on food all day long, and it has been a very hard habit to break. Night eating was something I struggled with too. I think the reason I ate late at night, was because many times my day had been so hectic, and after hubby and son went to bed, that was my time. Food was very comforting. Food is not comforting to me anymore. I don't enjoy eating like I used to. Sometimes I really miss food, but most of the time I think of food as just something I need to survive. It takes time to change our habits, we can't just change overnight. In the meantime, all we can do is just try our best to get past these obstacles.

Lately, I've been exercising during my son's nap. He usually takes at least a 2 hour nap, so that gives me plenty of time to exercise. There are definitely days I don't want to. Hang in there, things will get better and be proud of what you have accomplished so far.

OMG! You just wrote a portion of my bio. I did not realize how much I was eating until I went for my consultation and the 302 popped up. I weighed more than I did when I was pregnant. By the way thats what people kept asking me(are you pregnant?). If only eyes could cut! Anyway I can not wait to meet you guys. I really needed this, someone who can really relate to what I am going thru.

Hey Mia! Been there, done that, got the T-shirt and it does not fit! Dont worry about the haters. You have us and when that T-shirt does fit GIRRRL look out!

And by the way WELCOME ALLI!

It doesn't sound like excuses, we sound like we have alot in common. I have a form of arthritis in my back that causes the vertebrae to fuse togeter and my hips are beginning to fuse. I went to my rhuemetologist yesterday and he was amazed at the difference a little weight loss and exercise have made.

Have you tried any of the ski machine type exercise machines? I have a Tony Little Gazzelle that doesn't cause any pain to use. You can get those pretty cheap now at Walmart and JCPenneys.

What about a fill? Do you have good restriction? You know the only way this is going to work is for us to make it happen. I am about to go get a fill in an hour. I went by the treatment center and weighed last week and my weight loss had slowed don so it is time for another one.

Are you going to come to our get together? I can't wait to get to meet everybody from this page. we seem to have a great group going here and I think it would really benefit all of us to have that support.

Well I have to run. Let us know how you are progressing. Take care!

Thanks Jeannie for the tip about the machine, but I do have a treadmill that my husband paid a lot of money for. I started using it and it hurt my back and knees with the jarring motion. That did not make my husband happy. Right now he is the only one working and after shelling out more money for my surgery I shy away asking for more eqiupment until he can see more results. I don't want him to feel like he is throwing good money after bad until I feel I can get a better handle on my journey. I have had 5 fills thats 6.5 in my 10cc band. I am scheduled for another fill in 3wks. I am planning to attend the get together. I too look forward to meeting everyone.

  6. . I feel like I need a good swift kick in the rear from you guys, I live in Tifton and would love to join you on Feb 7th. Thanks for letting me rant.

Consider this your first good swift kick, however you are not doing bad. 30 pounds is still a pretty good amount. How many fills have you had? Have you talked to Elizabeth that does our fills? She is very understanding and helpful. Put that 2 year old in a stroller and go for a walk, babies love to walk. Get back to into the habit of eating more like you did for your preop diet, the Sugar Buster's diet is great for melting awa the pounds. And come back here more often we are all here to help each other out and listen. If you need a shoulder to cry on or a pair of clapping hands to encourage this is the place to come. Take care and good luck!

Thanks Jeannie, I really need it. I have talked to Elizabeth and she has given me some ideas. Since I do have other underlying problems with my disc in my back exercise is a little tricky. Sounds a lot like excuses doesn't it? I sometimes feel like I have wasted everyones time wtih my surgery, especially mine. I want to get back to the beginnig when this was the best thing since sliced bread. Sounds familiar like when I started any other diet before surgery. I do srtuggle with falling back into old routines. That is a great idea walking with my son. Duh! Thanks for the support.

  7. I've been mia from this web site and from posting for a while. I come back to read the post from time to time, but rarely posted. I started back at this forum and find that you guys are going to be my greatest asset at keeping on track to the new happier and healthier me. My poor husband tries to be the best support person he can, but I find that I make the worst decisions when I am at home all day with our 2 year old. I don't make the necessary time to excersise. I feel like I need a good swift kick in the rear from you guys, because my husband is too kind to do it. And maybe if he did he is close enough for me to choke. I don't know any of you and I would be more inclined to listen and respond in a pleasant way. Is'nt that awful? Anyway I would appreciate any direction and replies. I have lost only 30lbs and need a boost. My surgery date is below. I live in Tifton and would love to join you on Feb 7th. Thanks for letting me rant.

  8. Hi Para Girl, I am from Tifton. I too was banded by dr B on Oct 4th. I have been asking for a support group also. Malik says they are putting one together for us. It's nice to have support thru this journey. I had my first fill on Nov 13th. 3ccs in my 10cc band. I was nervous at first, but the procedure it self was a easy. Although I do not have the restriction I was looking for. Can't wait for my next fill Dec 3rd. I look forward to getting to know you and the rest of the Oct bandits. Good luck and God Bless!
