Mine makes me feel so much better during the day. I didn't even realize how tired I was! The sleep center set me up with a machine ..my insurance had no problem paying for it. I do have a small out of pocket but it wasn't bad

Hey Onephattmom, Aetna did this to me too. Then they said it was going through appeal I was like no no it shouldn't be! Lol Apparently they thought that when I initially started the process I was putting in a claim and now I was appealing it. I had to explain we wanted a new claim and before we were just checking benefits, they put in a new one and then I was approved pretty quickly within 3-4 days. Just keep on it... you will have an answer soon! -

Some issues with aetna right now. I called them today since is been a week since my info was submitted. I think my doctors office screwed something up when they checked benefits in august. They said it will be at least another 15 days. I'm really upset is taking so long -
Insurance approval sent too early
nbw1220 replied to nbw1220's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope not happy about this. They said the appeal could take up to 60 days. That is ridiculous! The office was only checking benefits and they were not trying to pre certify. But i guess my insurance made a mistake and put down that it was a pre cert with no back up documents. They did a denial on the pre cert back in August. This is causing the whole process to take longer. My paperwork was sent in again last Monday. -
Hey everyone I'm not sure if anyone has encountered this but I think it's kind of strange. I have just completed everything for insurance approval over the past month EXCEPT the 3 month supervised diet. I have 2 more appointments with the NUT. One next week and the Last one should be October 3rd and after that i was told they would submit everything over for approval. However I just got a denial from my insurance in the mail, looks like somehow they thought I was having surgery back on the 19th?! I do plan on talking to the office when i go see the NUT but I was wondering if anyone knew if this would affect my approval in Oct.? I don't know anything about the appeal process!

Hey everyone, I figured I would post along with you! I am just waiting on approval.... i found out my paperwork was submitted Monday Sept 29th. I called aetna insurance today and they said they received it on Tuesday and it is under review. They said it could take up to 2 weeks to approve. No worries about approval. ..I don't know about the rest of you but just this waiting business is driving me crazy! I think what bothers me is not having any idea of when my date will be. ... makes it hard to plan things. Plus with all this. .I just got a notice for jury duty . . Apparently no date yet for that either. So much is just up in the air! Lol -

Just had my info submitted monday! I had to do everything mentioned as well. 3 month supervised diet, met with NUT, psych, etc and had a bunch of tests done. Found out I had sleep apnea during testing. It's a lot of appointments.. But the time flew by fast! I lost a total of 25 lbs with the diet and exercise. ..Now I'm just waiting lol. I think this is the worst part! -
I can't wait... ... to fit on a roller coaster! ...to not have little kids point out that I am fat ...to not worry about whether of not i will actually fit into a chair ...to stop hiding the end of the airplane seat belts with a hoodie just to pretend it's buckled! .. to wear some cute shorts!

They are super nice at the sleep clinic and they offer a sleeping pill if you need it! I would just ask for it right away
-
I was nervous went I went in too! Don't worry you will be thanking yourself later. I hate not sleeping at home and quite frankly I did not believe I had sleep apnea so I almost did I not go lol. My family said it would be good to just get it over with. I did have a hard time sleeping at the clinic but I glad I went. I have had my machine for a couple weeks now and I notice a HUGE difference in my alertness. I also wake up faster in the morning and I don't get up as often during the night. It's better to be safe and do the test because sleep apnea puts a lot of stress on your heart and your body in general which could cause you to have a heart attack or stroke. After all this stuff we are doing to get to surgery to have a better life, ...you might as well through this in too! Better safe than sorry.

Congrats on all of your dates! It's so exciting to see everyone who is getting ready for surgery! I still can't wait to get my date but I'm almost there. After my last sleep test I ended up having severe obstructive sleep apnea and it took me a little longer to get set up with my CPAP machine than I had hoped. But good news is after a week of being on the CPAP I am actually glad I have it! Its annoying to sleep with the machine at night but I feel sooooo different... in a good way. I do feel more alert and I have no more yawning or grogginess in the morning.

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
nbw1220 replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
August 2013 the left side of my face became paralyzed while i was working, I could no longer blink or smile... The first thought was that I had a stroke. I rushed to the hospital and they said right away that I had Bells Palsy. By that time my face was completely paralyzed on one side of my face. It took about 6 months for me to fully recover... It really opened my eyes and made me aware of how much I had changed over the years. I felt like I didn't recognize myself anymore. I had gained so much weight that even though my face recovered I was depressed about it. This year I started off trying to lose weight again knowing I had to do something and everything has started falling into place with the sleeve surgery. I know it's time and I could not be any more confident in my decision. I want my life back
