1. So glad this thread is here. I am about at the 8 month post op mark and have not lost any weight for about a month. 75 pounds lost so far, but I seem to be stuck at 248-250. I have been good at avoiding bread, Pasta, carbonated drinks, anything sweet etc. I was just wondering if anyone else hit a stall that long around 7 months after surgery? Despite abstaining from the items above, I am still trying to reduce snacking and push away from carbs. I tend to crave nuts, trail mix, and crackers when I want to snack, as I finally got sick of eating string cheese for every snack. I still exercise on my stationary bike every other day, and walk as much as possible at home or at work. I'm curious to see what my cholesterol/triglyceride levels are now as I can't tolerate red meat, just a small portion and I'm full. Trying not to sweat the 'stall' stuff but sometimes feel like I'm alone with this challenge.

I hit a major slow down at same time losing 2-3 a month. Scared me because I still had so much to lose. For me the culprit was Protein bars. As soon as I eliminated them and changed my workout routine I returned to losing 8-10 a month until I got to my goal at 14 months post op. I suspect it is the nuts, trail mix and crackers in your case - all pretty calorie and carb dense food.

What's wrong with being full after a small portion of red meat?

I don't particularly love sandwich meat but that is my main snack...I treat myself to a bit of cream cheese to help it taste better. Filling dense Protein keeps me from snacking. If i eat crackers bread nuts Peanut Butter etc I can eat hefty portions either by grazing or too much at once. Does not happen if I focus on dense protein.

You are incredibly helpful! Any chance you can suggest some good dense protein? Maybe I'm a dope but didn't realize there was dense protein. Or maybe a good resource on the computer that could give suggestion. Thanks so much!

  2. Also June 24.

Struggling with Water intake but food am ok.

Head hunger is atrocious. But I am real hunger too.
I try to eat every 2-3 hours so I don't get ravenous.

I feel great except for acid.
On soft foods. So a lot of meats and not having issues with them for the most part.

I am still only able to do 500 or so calories a day though

Haven't lost anything in a week or so

Lost 11 pounds since surgery and 26 total to date with pre op

I hear you with the water intake. I used to be able to drink a lot more and I think my tastes have changed too. From the sounds of it stalls are part of it and will soon be a distant memory. Sounds like you're doing well. Pepcid AC Elle's with my acid reflux post op.

  3.
I'm just like you! :)

I also had my surgery on June 24th and have stalled this week. I've been worried that I'm eating too much (around 700-1000 calories). My doctor told me last week that I could progress to soft foods as long as I'm remembering to chew everything to an applesauce-like consistency. I think that once different foods were introduce back into my diet that it opened me up to hunger again, unfortunately. I'm trying not too snack too much and I'm working on drinking more Water and getting more Protein in. Today I actually got close to 70g's of Protein (which is pretty good for me) and I forced myself to drink more than normal and I can say that as of right now, I'm not feeling as hungry as I've been lately. Also, if I do need to snack (like at night when my sweet tooth kicks in!), watermelon or Outshine no sugar added popsicles are pretty great.

The only exercise that I've been doing is walking for a half hour everyday around my neighborhood. A nurse told me (before my surgery when I complained that my feet hurt way too much to even think about going for a walk) that often it's the shoes that hurt more than being overweight. I invested in a good pair of walking shoes and I can actually say that my feet don't hurt when I walk anymore and each day I try to go farther and farther.

Anyway, just wanted to share with you a few things that I've tried that seem to help since we're in the same boat! Good luck!

Thank you! I'm like how you mentioned to invest in good shoes! That makes me think I should buy some new cute work out gear, that usually get me in the spirit of things. It's comforting to know in not the only one. Thank you!

  4. Hey guys! I was sleeved 6\30\14. My first 2 weeks I did awesome and lost 23.5 pounds! I was so excited. Now I'm on, soft mushy foods and I haven't moved the scale at all! I, actually gained a pound. I know a pound is nothing but since im at a complete halt with my weight loss I feel like I might be doing something wrong. Did this happen to anyone else this early after the sleeve?

I'm totally with you!!! Stay the course it will pass!

  5. Hey Everyone!!

I was sleeved June 24th. I'm in a stall as well and read every where how common they are. I can tell I'm loosing inches though. My clothes are rally loose, lost 20lbs quickly now loosing slowly. Thankfully I have this I help me feel better. I'm way less panicky because of your posts!

I hate exercise, always have and am struggling To get structured exercise in. I'm on my feet a lot being a teacher and am working on getting a buddy to work out with. Any suggestions or helpful tips are welcome?!

I also tire easily, yet I have way more energy thank I did prior to surgery which I love. Also get hungry every couple of hours. Also heard that this will pass with solid foods but hey I'm just gonna listen to my body and eat a healthy choice when I'm hungry. I am aware I should not graze.

    Thanks for reading!

    Hannah

  6. Ok that earlier thread was a mistake! Sorry!

I'm 2 weeks out if my surgery and feeling much better! I'm just having a little problem with hunger signals! I eat until I first feel full but a little while later I feel Hungry again. I can not imagine Im not eating enough. Is this just my body getting used to my small stomach? How much should make me feel full?

Today I had a smoothie for Breakfast, a Greek yogurt and some of a single serving of tapioca pudding for lunch and around 4 I was starving! I made an afternoon snack of 1 full egg, an egg white, 1/4 of a cup of low fat shredded cheese. Is this is ok? It's 6 now and I'm starting to feel hungry. Is this normal?

    Thanks!!!!!

  7. Hi folks,

I was sleeved last Monday, have lost 20lbs since.

For the last 3 days I have been rabidly hungry. I can't stand it. Granted, I drink some Protein or some Water and I am full for maybe 2 or 3 hours...but then it comes back.

I am really worried that I am going to eat something that hurts my healing stomach. I just a a finger nail sized piece of pickle - it's tiny and I chewed it up, but still that is not on the liquid only diet I am supposed to followed for the next month.

My stomach is hungry - it feels like hunger pains. I feel like I am on a massive diet - really tired at the end of the day and HANGRY.

Does this get better? Or is this just something I have to manage going forward? I just don't think I will be able to make it a month on water and Protein Drinks.

Help!

Hey There! I completely feel your pain!! I got sleeved two weeks ago and Im just starting puréed stage. The first 2 weeks is brutal. Have you tried a Protein Powder (chocolate flavored) with ice and 1% milk, if you close your Wes it almost tastes like a milk shake. Those helped a lot. Also, I had Greek yogurt which was good too and Popsicles, sugar free helped too. Stay strong and stay the course! You don't want to leak and soon you will reap the benefits. It does suck though but you will get through!
