    SCARED!

I recently purchased Genepro from Amazon.com and so far I like it. It has no smell or taste. 1 tablespoon is 30 g protein. You can put on hot or cold liquids or mix in foods.
  2. I had an outpatient procedure with zero complications. I went in a 7am, surgery at 9:30, went to recovery and came home about 5pm. No complaints, Dr and staff was great!

Why do I have to drink slowly?

Liquids are not digested, just pass through the stomach so no way it's going to harm your sleeve. Some have difficulty drinking more than sips and also drinking can be painful. I too had difficulty with the sip sip sip approach and I was able to drink a lot of fluids as a result. The first week I drank 1 oz every 15 min and I did not sip. I just downed the 1 oz. After that I would drink until my sleeve said that's enough! Now I'm 10 weeks out and I can drink 12-16 oz in less than 10 min. Every one is different, just pay attention to your sleeve and you will know what it does and does not like. Congrats and good luck!
  4. I am eating regular now and eat 800-1000 calories daily. If I don't workout then I eat only 800 cal, however if I do workout then I add calories to account for calories burned. I use MFP to log calories and cardiovascular so it helps me determine my needed calories for that day. Basically, the more calories you burn, the more calories you will need to eat. Discuss your concerns with your NUT she would be able to explain it better. I'm still learning and haven't quite gotten it down.

    What is everyones diet?

You have lost about 27 lbs post surgery over the past 40 days...you are doing great! I would suggest adding healthy carbs and veggies. You are getting protein but still need a balanced diet that includes veggies and healthy carbs to lose weight. Walk walk walk or if you are up to it 45 min cardio.
  6. Oh, after only a week, don't expect much in terms of weight loss. Don't worry you will soon began to have noticeable weight loss in the coming week or so. Every one is different, but we all get there!
  7. Wow...back to work so soon! You probably have low energy I'm assuming because you are still on full liquid or pureed foods. Usually not easy to get in the Protein and calories needed to substain energy and this will have an affect on your ability to concentrate and focus. Try to get in the recommended protein and fluids to help with energy. Not certain what else you can do at this stage. Don't over do it, let your body heal. It will get better, hang in there! Congrats and best wishes!

    Itching

Maybe you should switch to a different brand of protein drink. It seems like you may be allergic to something in that particular protein drink.
  9. Do you have pain and red bruising around your incisions. If yes, then go to the ER. If you are in severe pain that may not be normal five days out. I would go to the ER. Better safe than sorry! Best wishes and congrats!!
  10. Look for a 'Whey Protein Isolate'. This is best for quick absorption. Also, you can check online Bariatric Advantage, Unjury, Bariatric Choice, they all have protein powders. Not sure where you live but any nutrition store should have Whey Protein Isolate.

    Blurry Vision

Check your blood pressure if it low then you should not take any more BP meds until you see your doctor on Friday. This happened to me! You may need your dose adjusted or taken off the meds.

Do you take blood pressure meds, if so it could be that your blood pressure has dropped too low.
  13. Also find an unflavored protein isolate and add it to your foods, I add protein to everything. You can even sprinkle it on anything you eat for added protein. Unjury, Body Fortress
  14. I have found warm lemon (1/2 fresh) water helps me to get 64 oz daily. It seems to make it easier to drink. I am 7 weeks post op and each morning upon waking I am able to drink 16 oz in less than 30 min if warmed with added lemon. If not, then it takes me over an hour to drink it. Then I drink 4 oz ever hour or so. I do this each morning and nightly before bed another 16 oz. Most of the time, I am able to get more than 64 oz.

    Trying to help my mother

Please stop the ibuprofen, it affects the kidneys. If she can't get in adequate liquids she will dehydrate very quickly and possibly her damage kidneys.
  16. I had to set my cell phone timer to go off every 15 minutes as a reminder for me to drink fluids. It may seem a little extreme but it worked. I was able to get all Water and Protein. Also, I used 1 oz medicine cups and put 8 ozs fluids and just lined the cups up. Every time the timer went off, I drank an ounce. Hope this helps! Congrats on your surgery!
