  1. Are you seeing a counselor or therapist? You might want to consider a 12-step recovery meeting like OA (www.oa.org). Willpower alone cannot help me overcome compulsive eating. I need help.
  2. I loved my heating pad. Plus, post-op I was freezing so the heating pad helped keep me warm
  3. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience fluctuations and periodic stall. It is a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. We all stall and almost everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery. Follow your program. Focus on getting in ALL of your Protein and AT LEAST 64 oz of Fluid. It also sounds like you need more calories. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  4. Just focus on getting in your Protein and fluids. If you feel like you must eat mashed potatoes, then try adding some protein (unflavored Protein powder, chicken Soup protein powder, or even grated/melted cheese would add protein).
  5. Try unjury chicken soup or ProtiDiet creamy chicken or tomato basil. These really helped when I was tired of sweet shakes. You can also drink bone broth or add unflavored protein to soups or broths. V8 is also good when I am tired of sweets.
  6. I am confused. What phase are you on? Why would you feel guilty for eating if you are hungry? We are actually supposed to eat in order to live and be healthy. Mashed potatoes may not have been a great choice, especially if you are still on liquids, but self-hatred, disgust, and guilt are not helpful. Do you have a counselor or therapist you can talk to about your feelings?
  7. My NUT made a suggestion that you might consider. Take your vitamin list to your pharmacy at a time when they aren't busy and they should be able to help you find what you need.
  8. I went back to Target to get another suit because I need one for our pool at home (so I can keep my other suit in my locker at the wellness center). The first time I went I looked in the swimwear section first but then found that the plus size suits were in the plus size clothing section. This time, I went straight to the plus size section, no suits. They had moved them to the regular swim suit section. I cannot wait to fit in "regular" clothes so I don't have to feel like I am on a scavenger hunt for clothes. I also had a coupon for our local sporting goods store. I stopped in to see if they possibly has anything I might fit in. I got swim goggles and a hot pink under armour XL sports bra. I tried it on when I got home. My boobs are a bit squished, but it fit around my ribcage!
  9. I used a generic (like centrum) Multivitamin. I got the b-1, b-12, d+k dots, and d3 from drugstore.com. I can't remember the brands off the top of my head. I like Bariatric Advantage calcium chews (chocolate, caramel, raspberry, and lemon). Protein: ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates and Syntrax nectar fizzy navel (especially when I was on clears). Premier Protein, GNC lean 25 (orange cream), Quest salted caramel, unjury, unjury chicken Soup, ProtiDiet creamy chicken and tomato basil Soups, etc. I highly recommend you start with samples before investing in large tubs.
  10. I like ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates, Syntrax nectar, v8, GNC lean shake 25, ProtiDiet tomato basil and creamy chicken soups, and premier protein shakes when I was on liquids. Just keep trying.
  11. We all make mistakes. Being honest with yourself (and us) is a great step. We all have to learn and practice new habits, attitudes, and skills. I bet the cake didn't taste nearly as good as you thought it would. I just hope it doesn't make you sick. (Just the thought of all that sugar makes me a little ill.) Next time, try reaching out to us before you take the first bite.
  12. I like Palmer's Cocoa Butter and Cocoa Oil. They both have vitamin E and smell really good.
  13. This is an old thread, but I will add: chocolate Calcium chews Chocolate Protein shakes Chocolate PB2 Dark chocolate protein pudding There is no end of ways to get a chocolate fix.
  14. Here is the book I mentioned: The One-Life Solution: Reclaim Your Personal Life While Achieving Greater Professional Success https://www.amazon.com/dp/0061466433/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_LDlmxbNBKVHP3
  15. Have you tried the ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates? I like them because they are clear and lighter than Protein Shakes. You can put them in your water bottle. Each packet is 15 grams of protein. Bless your heart! My mom had 4 kids and I STILL don't know how she did it (dad travelled a lot for work).
  16. Definitely talk to your surgeon. You may need more time off and/or modified duties when you do return to work.
  17. You have to put yourself and your recovery first. I am single, no kids, live near family, and not working, and the first few months were challenging. I cannot imagine how you do it! You may have to get creative. How old are your kids? They may need to help more. Use a calendar. Make sure you schedule everything (put your meals, Snacks, exercise, doctors appointments, support group meetings, sleep, etc., first, then schedule everything else around that. Planning ahead is critical. One book I HIGHLY recommend is Dr. Henry Cloud's One Life Solution. It is about setting boundaries, life balance, etc. There are also productivity resources that you may find useful like Covey. Don't be afraid to ask for help. From your kids, friends, church members, babysitters, etc. Maybe you need to hire a "mother's helper" for the summer. Keep us posted on how you are doing. The people on this site have a wealth of experience and wisdom.
  18. We have a local Chinese restaurant that delivers. The couple who own it are super nice. I used to be a very good customer pre-op. They have been super supportive and encouraging about my surgery (even though it has meant a drastic drop in business for them). They STILL think it is crazy that I tell them "no rice" the few times I have ordered from them since surgery.
  19. Wow. Congratulations and best of luck with your pregnancy. This does surprise me because of the stress my surgeon placed on birth control and pregnancy prevention/testing pre-op. I am a 51 year old single woman who is not in a relationship and it would be a miracle if I were pregnant, and still got all the education and testing to make sure I was not pregnant. I agree to make sure that your NUT, OB/GYN, and bariatric team are all looped in. Sending you hugs and wishing you and your family all the best!
  20. You have received some great advice from others. I have learned, whether pre- or post-op, that have short, medium, and long-term goals to work toward really help. You mentioned work and school. In addition to short-term goals like weaning yourself off of carbonation, etc., maybe see if you can come up with some short-term goals related to work and school, too. Another thing that helps both pre- and post-op is to have a hobby that will keep your hands busy for the times when you want to mindlessly eat, but can't. Knitting, crocheting, coloring, painting, etc., are great for this. They are fairly easy to learn and practice, and to pick up and put down when needed.
  21. How far out are you? What phase are you on? How are you preparing and eating beef and pork?
  22. I know it is hard to open up to other people, but it really helps. You may even want to see if you can find a grief support group. I attended grief counseling through my church and found it helpful. I just noticed a posting for a grief support group through our local wellness center.
  23. I mean i set up an appointment to rake about the recent loss on my brother but i think i can handle it. I just dont like the idea of medication (my brother over dosed) and it causes nervousness thinking about taking addictive medication. Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App I am so sorry for your loss. Treating depression doesn't necessarily mean taking meds (although they can really help). Counseling can be very helpful.
