  1. Don't wait until Tuesday. Your surgeon should have given you a 24 hour phone number. There is nothing wrong with using it.
  2. Maybe she liked your outfit?
  3. I think I have at least three sizes.
  4. Frankly, between the chocolate protein shakes, chocolate protein pudding, chocolate calcium chews, chocolate is not something I go without. I also like the caramel calcium chews.
  5. 600-800 calories may not be enough. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  6. Here is a good article with tips for being a well-dressed woman: http://bridgetteraes.com/2016/05/03/well-dressed-woman/
  7. I just posted this in another thread: http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-science-of-making-friends-1460992572?mod=e2fb
  8. I have Brussels sprouts and asparagus. I went with the asparagus this evening.
  9. Based on some of the posts on this site, I know that more than a few folks find a need to make new friends after surgery. Sometimes it is because of a long period of social isolation due to obesity and for others it is because their lifestyle is changing and want to be able to add new people to their life. Here is an article for some good suggestions for making new friends as an adult: http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-science-of-making-friends-1460992572?mod=e2fb
  10. Scrambled egg with a tablespoon of Mediterranean goat cheese spread and fresh, roasted asparagus for dinner. Yum!
  11. With 6 grams of carbs and 25 grams of Protein, it should be fine. One easy rule of thumb is to keep carbs under 10 and protein over 10.
  12. Sounds like you are doing great! Just keep walking and sipping. I was surprised myself how quickly I was able to get up and move around after surgery. If you get in your fluids and protein you should bounce back in no time.
  13. I am a year out and I still eat a lot of Greek Yogurt, Cottage cheese, Turkey, Tuna, Cheese, etc.
  14. I agree. Plus: walk as soon as you can and sip, sip, sip!
  15. Definitely talk to your NUT. You should get a list for each post-op phase. Mine were: Week one - Clear liquids (with a couple of exceptions) Week two - full liquids Week three - soft foods Week four - soft mechanical Etc. Initially, for clear liquids I was allowed: Premier Protein (exception to clear), ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates, ProtiDiet creamy chicken and tomato basil Soups (exception to clear), bone broth, Isopure clear, decaf tea, Herb tea, plain Water, water with crystal light and Mio drops, sugar-free Jello, sugar-free Popsicles Full liquids were all of the above, plus: other Protein shakes, pudding, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, v8, no sugar added apple sauce Soft foods: all of the above plus: refried Beans, tuna, soft cheese, deli turkey, soft cooked vegetables like green beans, etc. Soft mechanical: soft foods that are a bit chewier (I don't remember the list). I found it helpful for several months to keep out my approved list and consult it frequently. I didn't put anything new in my mouth without checking the list for a while until I was comfortable knowing what was allowed. You really need to follow your program because it does vary from program to program. The priorities are Fluid (at least 64 oz) and protein (my target is 100 grams). Tracking is critical (I use MyFitnessPal) to make sure I am reaching my targets. Fluids and protein are critical for healing and weight loss. The texture is critical for healing and to avoid complications.
  16. Its very odd to change my thinking around this bc i hot my surgery so i cant eat too much, but now i have to eat more than i feel i am capable of. Lol It is completely different from our pre-op life. Pre-op it was about maximizing volume and minimizing calories. Post-op, it is about maximizing nutrition and minimizing volume.
  17. I was cleared to get in the pool once my incisions had healed and closed up completely with no holes. It was about 4 weeks post-op.
  18. I have to snack to get in enough protein. There is nothing wrong with small protein-rich meals and snacks throughout the day.
  19. The practice of medicine is not an exact science. I think there is such variation, because out surgeon's come up with guidelines based on a combination of research and experience. I hope that their primary goal is to keep us healthy and alive and to heal with no complications.
  20. My sister used to say she wasn't hungry and not order anything and then try to eat off of everyone else's plate. It drove me crazy! Just order what you want. If he wants two meals, then let him order two meals.
  21. There is a reason they are allowed during the liquid phase.
  22. It was my first surgery ever. So, it would have been nice to know that the worst part was not knowing what to expect. The surgery was the easiest part. The post-op recovery wasn't bad at all.
  23. Why wouldn't it? If you have a maximum calorie limit then I would think that counts all calories.
  24. Just in my educated opinion, I think that as long as we aren't eating more than 30 grams at a time we should be ok. I would rather be a little over my protein requirement than to not be getting enough protein. It is a balancing act, but I think for bariatric patients, if we don't eat more than 30 grams at a time we shouldn't be afraid of protein.
