  1. Is all of your cholesterol high? There is good and bad cholesterol. Also, high cholesterol is not always necessarily that way because of diet. Do you exercise?
  2. I was fortunate. I wouldn't have really called anything I felt "pain" except for a bit in my shoulder due to the gas. I would describe it more as soreness, discomfort, fatigue.
  3. I count all liquids but usually don't factor in soup just because it can have a lot of sodium. The more sodium I consume the more fluid I need.
  4. For me, 700-800 calories is on the low side. My Protein target is 100 grams. How much protein are you consuming? How much Water? If you are exercising regularly you may need even more water. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  5. You are still healing from major surgery. How are you doing at getting in all of your Protein and fluids? What is your protein target? Are you getting in at least that much every day? It sounds counterintuitive but until you are able to eat enough the numbers on the scale are pretty worthless as a measure of your progress. 6. What is your protein target? How much are you consuming? Are you consuming AT LEAST 64 oz of fluids?
  7. I agree with you so much! I am pre-op right now and I have been losing weight with some stalls. I would have messed up by now because my previous thinking would have been "I'm depriving myself for nothing." Since I can't quit because I need to keep going to have the surgery, it has taught me some patience. I'm going into my 4th month and haven't given up. Usually it's the 3rd month. Good news is I have lost about 23lbs and while it's not coming off as fast as I would like, it has taught me more patience Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App Patience, polite persistence, and perseverance have been very important for me in this journey.
  8. Thanks! I appreciate it. The visual image really helps me. Especially the idea of my body as a massive warehouse full of shelves, fork lifts, conveyor belts, and little people in hard hats running around.
  9. For me, chicken can be too dry so I tend to choose darker meat chicken. Plain skinless, boneless breasts tend to be D-R-Y even with sauce.
  10. @@Dub, that would be me! Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  11. Just go slow. You will start to learn what satisfies you and what is one bite too many. It helps to weigh and measure your food. But, something like an egg (depending on the size of an egg) is fairly easy to count in MyFitness Pal as a serving without measuring. Practice eating mindfully. Take small bites, chew thoroughly, put your utensil down between bites, and pay attention to how you are feeling. You will start to learn what works.
  12. In my program, spaghetti would not be a good choice. Meatballs without spaghetti or Pasta would. Choose a low fat Protein (turkey, tuna, fish, etc.), use a lowfat gravy or sauce to make it moist, and add a non-starchy vegetable. The World According to Eggface is a great source of recipes.

  14. Have you not received a detailed post-op diet plan? Mine was 1 week Clear Liquids (with a couple of exceptions, 1 week full liquids, 1 week soft, 1 week soft mechanical, etc. If in doubt, why not give your NUT and/or your surgeon's office a call?
  15. When I was on soft foods I ate green beans. I started drinking V8 during my full liquid phase.
  16. Actually, when giving up the diet cokes you may find that you have an easier time dropping the 10-15 pounds than you thought. Weaning yourself off of carbonation and caffeine, drinking LOTS of Water, getting in enough Protein, and eating a lot of non starchy vegetables and avoiding starches may be all the "dieting" you need to do.
  17. What does it mean that you barely eat? Are you getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Not eating enough can be as bad as eating too much. More detail about what you are doing would better help us to offer advise. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. If you intend to lose a significant amount of weight you will experience stalls. 18. I use MyFitnessPal in conjunction with my Misfit Shine activity tracker. You can manually enter exercise in MyFitnessPal but if you have a fitness tracker it plays well with others.
  19. PS, if you are on puréed foods then Greek yogurt and cottage cheese both have a lot of protein.
  20. 15-20 grams a day is not nearly enough. My target is 100 grams. The lowest target my surgeon recommends for anyone at his practice is 80 grams. Protein is critical for healing and weight loss. The sooner you can get in enough protein and fluids the better you will feel. I would highly recommend you keep pushing both. Sip all day if you have to. Keep trying different protein shakes and supplements. Try Syntrax nectar, ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates, Quest,
  21. ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates (eat undiluted, or mix in Water...no blender), Syntrax nectar (mix with spoon or shaker cup...no blender), ProtiDiet Soups (mix with spoon...no blender), premier Protein (screw top...no blender), blend a shake the night before and put in the refrigerator, etc. There are lots of options if you don't want to use a blender in the morning.
  22. I would strongly disagree. Getting professional help can save your life. Actively practicing your addiction (whatever form that takes) is what will ruin your life, career, relationships, etc.
  23. BariatricPal (this site!), MyFitnessPal (for food tracking), and a Misfit Shine (my fitness tracker).
