  1. hi & welcome! I am exactly your height and weigh 236/237. I have my surgery 10/17. Feel free to add me as a friend &monitor my progress. Good luck to you
  2. Dtiller prays going up & may blessings come down. My surgery is 10/17, please keep me in your prayers as well.
  3. good luck tomorrow! Praying all goes well!
  4. Thanks everyone! I have plenty sick time so I'll use that. Just verified w/HR sick time can be used. They mentioned I can protect my sick days under FMLA so it is not used against me (this was probably what my doctor was referring to).
  5. Hello everyone, I have my surgery in two weeks and plan on taking sick time. I have over 200 sick days available. The other day, while at my pre-op visit, my surgeon asked if I was completing my FMLA forms. I didn't know what he meant by that. When I asked him if I had to, he said he wasn't sure, Told me to check with my HR department-obviously every company is different. Was this surgery not covered as sick time for you guys? Did you have to use short-term disability? One of my friends at work mentioned she thought of having plastic surgery but she was told by HR since it was an elective surgery, time off it wouldn't be paid. I tried calling my HR department earlier this week but kept getting transferred. Will try again this week but in the meantime just looking for feedback. Thank you
  6. I'm on my preop diet now. Surgery October 17. I have two protein shakes a day and for dinner, lean protein(chicken, fish, or turkey) and veggies or salad. I have tried: muscle milk -chocolate, very good as well as the strawberry and cream flavor ( They are my favorite) Unjury -chicken soup , it was good, but I had a bit of an aftertaste. Vanilla was good, mixed it in my blender Premier- vanilla, good I bought some sugar-free syrup to mix in my vanilla flavored protein drink but I haven't tried them yet.
  7. @Sleeveme61@robga999@Peekboo thinking of you all and sending positive thoughts & prayers on your surgeries tomorrow &Tuesday. Also thinking of the rest of you who are having your sugery this week. I'm not that tech savvy so didn't know how to add everyone. YOU GUYS WILL DO GREAT things! Rock that sleeve!!!
  8. @@chellede thank you for the words of encouragement. And a HUGE thank you for taking the time to compile everyone's dates & the various protein drinks! You're the best!
  9. @@Vsglady I'm going to try that flavor too, thanks. And I will focus on my family & not the food they are eating tomorrow! I always hear that days 1&2 are the hardest. I totally didn't think that through by planning family day tomorrow.
  10. @@dark n lovely, I haven't had my surgery yet. I have it in two weeks but trying to get prepared. What do you mean by clear protein shakes? Can you share a few brands?
  11. Okay, I'm going to assume all of my typos are due to my lightheadedness from not eating. Now I wrote hopes instead of oops ........or maybe I should just stop multitasking
  12. Hopes, I spelled weak wrong.
  13. @@Vsglady well today is day one. I'll be honest, I had a moment this afternoon when I felt a little week and unsteady. it is almost 7 PM and I'm doing okay. Better than I thought I would. I've only had two protein shakes so far. The first one was Vanilla Premier protein. It was actually okay (had it over ice & drank slowly). My lunchtime protein was the chocolate by muscle milk, which I liked better. No withdrawal (caffeine) headaches. Let's see what day two brings. I also have some Unjury protein powder, will probably try that tomorrow.
  14. I can so relate. Had mine last night, felt sick cause I ate so much.Today I'm on my first day of liquids & Struggling a bit. Having some family over tomorrow, which will be difficult to watch everyone eat. One day at a time
  15. @BP'sMamaG welcome! Thanks for the protein suggestion I will try it, I see that they sell it at Walmart. I start my liquid diet Friday so you're the perfect person to ask .... How are you doing? Any hunger pains?
  16. @@cybergirl welcome! And congrats on your weight-loss. @@Vsglady wow! You get to have trail mix, lucky you! I have no recipes however a lot of people recommend the site theworldaccordingtoeggface , for recipes
  17. @@sportymommy95 we have the same date, 10/17! Congrats to you! I went today for the last of my pre-op test ( stress test). My cardiologist said he would send the approval letter. Yay me! I start the liver reduction diet on Friday. Started buying the things I'll need while in the hospital & after, including some sample packs of protein drinks.
  18. You've joined the right online support group. most people here are very encouraging. The important thing is to get support online & in person. I haven't had my surgery yet, so I can't really offer much advice. But I'm sure you already know what to do, application is key. Best of look to you on this journey. I'm betting You'll do just fine.

  20. @@traveler60 Best wishes on your surgery. Bring a book that you enjoy, if you like reading, sleep. Just do something to distract yourself. I agree flying is miserable but if you keep yourself busy hopefully the time will fly.
  21. Call your surgeons office to confirm but I have not heard of one person who was able to drive them self home. Just left my preop.appt & Dr was clear that needed a ride home
  22. Lainie my surgery is scheduled for Oct 17th. Strange that someone brought up the shots. I just watched my pre-op video a few days ago & to my surprise they instructed me on how to GIVE MYSELF the shots. 3 per day for two weeks! freeked me out a bit & as fedup mentioned, it is to prevent blood clots. Fedup how are you doing?
  23. @@LainieG I ordered syntrax nectar sample packs $19.99. Haven't tried it yet. But I've seen it recommended on several threads.
  24. @@Queen of Crop I agree! Stay! Agree with Lainie, you can offer a different perspective. And so happy you decided to blog again!
  25. 12 weeks?! Wow you look great! Continued success
