  1. When I got my pedicure recently, as I was leaving, I thought about the day I would be doing my own. I can't wait!!!! Great for you! I so UNDERSTAND how that must feel. Btw, I will still get pedicures from time to time but it will be nice to have the option.

    Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!

My date is October 17th. I did most of my preop testing. I have a sleep study next Wed. I think the hardest part for me will be the two-week liquid diet. Fortunately, my doctor allows me to have small dinner (protein &veggies) but liquids during the day. I will have to think of the end result to et me through. Giving up my coffee will be a doozie!
  4. I received my book a couple weeks ago. My daughter was under the weather last weekend, so while she took a four hour nap, I read -almost nonstop. This weekend I'm not feeling well, so I had more time to read (in between naps). I'm just about done and love it. Easy read and I like how it takes us from A-Z. By the way, I bought another book from Amazon (on gastric sleeve) . it was highly rated but I put it down to ready this one. Thank you.
  5. Leebee. first of all here's a virtual hug (( )). Now Reread what you wrote. You cut out caffeine, drank 64 ounces of water, upped your protein and on & on. YOU DID GREAT! Do not get discouraged, you will do just fine. Best wishes for a quick and painless recovery and Follow doctors orders post- op,even if he is insensitive
  6. Hi beckalou! Welcome. I did the home sleep study 1st and was told I have severe sleep apnea. So I go back next Tuesday for the overnight sleep study. Several people have told me that once you get the device you will notice a big difference (for the better) I'm told I will wake up more rested. However, you've got me worried. I've done all my pre-op testing & I see my surgeon on Friday. I was hopeful he may give me my surgery date. now I'm concerned about my insurance requirements with the CPAP. Oh well.

    Iron supplement

My nutritionist gave me a sample of iron pills to try as well,(ferretts iron supplement.) I take them at night before going to bed and I have no side effects. I read on another thread where someone was complaining about the same thing. A few members recommended Garden of life iron pill. I've never tried it but just passing along the information. Good luck.
  11. Haven't had my surgery yet but I definitely believe in affirmations. One of my favorites is " your thoughts become your reality" Helps me to remain positive and hopefully will translate into a successful weight loss.
  12. My surgery won't be until October so unfortunately, I don't have much to share- i'm relatively new too. However, any question you could possibly think of you should find the answer on this site. I also ordered a couple books from Amazon to help me along this journey. You can never be too prepared. As far as the bar exam goes.... You passed it, "your thoughts become your reality". Keep in touch!
  13. Hi BeenGym'n! Welcome! You've come to the right site. There are lots of positive people here who will provide tremendous support. First of all, congratulations on passing the bar exam, what a great accomplishment! Also Congrats on your upcoming surgery. Your positive attitude will surely help with your recovery. :-)
  14. Not sure what that means. When I googled that question, I got this answer:7.0 mobile 11d257 safari. Hope that answers the question Sorry I am very illiterate when it comes to computers.
  15. Wishing you continued success & Thanks for sharing. I always love reading about everyone's journey.

Elderberry, I'm fairly new & may not be able to offer much advice but I am a good listener. Going alone, I'm sure is a scary but you can message me or add me as a friend- YOU WILL SUCCEED!

  22. Hi Katie, I have an HMO, so yes, I had to get a referral. Because I have to high BMI it was no problem getting approved. I met w/the bariatric team in June which inc the nurse, nutritionist, exercise physiologist & the surgeon. Everyone was super friendly. My first appt lasted three hours. They gave me a printout of everything we discussed, which was helpful, because the first appointment was so overwhelming. I was instructed to do the following: pulmonary test, blood work, chest X-ray, resting metabolic test, stress test, psychologist, ultrasound of the gallbladder & sleep study. I have two more test to go. I met w/the bariatric team again in July- it was basically a follow-up. My next appointment with them is in August and I will get my date then, provided all my test results are in. Will prob get sleeved in Oct. no weight loss requirements. Whew! A lot right? But I know it will be well worth it in the end. Good luck at your first appointment!
  23. Hi Amy, I have bcbsil as well. Be careful doing all the pre-op requirements too soon. my surgeon told me some test are only good for 90 days before surgery. unfortunately, I can't remember which ones. Just check w/your doctor. It would be a bummer to have to go through testing twice. Best wishes
