  1. I was banded on the 3rd of nov.. however i seem to not be losing weight at all! as u all can see from my signature i have lost only 1kg since.. the hospital where i got it from is not cooperating at all.. they dont help me with diet etc.. i have had one fill but i seem to be hungry and am usually able to eat quite a bit of food!

i am panicking majorly and thought of getting some advice if anyone has any to offer!

    Thanks all

  2. i have been experiencing extreme pain in my port area after i walk. this usually happens if i walk too fast on the treadmill.. if i keep it a bit slower its alrite.. i was banded on 3 nov n it has been a month since.. is this normal? shouldnt i be able to exercise normally now?

i do not have any infection/redness etc and the wounds have been healing well.. so im a bit concerned..

is anyone else going through something similar?

  3. Hey guys I am so glad you all are doing so well  these stories we share makes our individual experiences so much better!

All our experiences sound so much similar

Today is my 10th day post op and i cant believe how much better i feel already! my stitches are still on.. they will be getting off on thursday so they itch a bit.. apart from that the pain is nearly gone now (just some discomfort) and nothing much else

the only worry is my eating! there are times when i cant eat at all.. n others when i just wanna keep eating! i think its my head hunger playing in but i dont know how to differentiate between them.. sigh!

also i tried walking on the treadmill today.. walked on for 15 mins but its made my stitches hurt! so i guess ill keep off of it and just walk normally

  4. well i was much much better in the morning.. but around evening i noticed a bit of blood on one of my dressings n that scared me a bit.. however i ws told that might happen so im keeping my fingers crossed.. it hurts a bit tho but im trying to bear it!

hopefully it shud go away.. my stitches get removed on sun so i hope i can hang on until then

sorry for being so graphic but i felt like venting a bit!

  5. Hi, Stevie:

Yesterday was much better! There were a couple of times I felt a tad weak or the pain in my shoulder was bothersome but most of the time I felt normal and almost forgot I had had the surgery! I actually felt better as the day went on.

    Thanks for asking!

    Kendra

thats great longhorn! im glad u had a nice day :)

  6. congrats cota for ur surgery :clap2:and hope u have a speedy recovery

as for me.. i feel great! i cant believe how much better i feel today than i did yesterday.. i just feel a pull in my stitches when i walk for a while.. but it goes away if i hold it tight..

although i m a bit sick of having liquids.. cant wait to begin mashed foods.. i cant remember ever being excited about having mashed foods :)

  7. wow longhorn! that seems awfully hard! im sorry to hear u had such a bad day on ur first day at work! i cant imagine all that walking around! i hope it goes better for u today :)

thanks for the myoplex tip edeva.. i dont like the shakes provided by the doc so i guess ill go back to myoplex! lots more Protein n tastes better too :Banane34:

to give a quick update.. today is day 4.. pain is much lesser.. down to discomfort though it hurts like mad if i cough or sneeze! apart from that i am able to walk a bit without getting dizzy! n i notice that my old clothes r already loose on me now so thats a great incentive :)

  8. i had my band in on nov 3.. so this is fay 3!

i was told that my surgery went off without any hiccups n thats a relief! but after the surgery i remember being extremely cold n shivering horribly.. and that hurt the stitches so i remember being in extreme pain. it sure made me wonder what i got myself into! but then they put me on pain killers n it got alrite.. was at the hospital that night and had horrible acid reflux! so bad that i was given meds for it and cud hardly sleep at all!

day 2 was better.. although they had not let me have a drop of Water of 24hrs so i was totally parched! once the fluids began it was much better.. the pain wasnt too bad either and i was discharged.. but as soon as i got to my hotel it got unbearable! the worst pain i cud ever imagine.. i also saw some blood on my dressing and was totally freaking out by then! so i rushed back to the hospital and they put me on antibiotics.. i stayed there another night and by the next day i was much better so i got discharged again!

i cud hardly sleep last night.. cud not find the right position that did not hurt! boy was it hard!

but today has begun much better.. i can sit and even lie down flat.. no more acid reflux.. atleast no where near as bad! thank god for that!

i guess i have gone on n on!

well thats about it so far :D

  9. Hi,

I live in Abu Dhabi. Chris De Brutenne comes to the Emirates Hospital in Dubai two days each month. I am having a band "installed" by him in September. Check out the website for the hospital. Hope this helps.

  10. Hey all,

I am new to this site so finding my way around still..

The idea of lap banding was introduced to me very recently by my GP.. I am 26 yrs old and have a BMI of 39 so im at a risk of lots of diseases.. Is there anyone here with a similar BMI with some results?

Also, the surgeon recommended to me is Dr. Bruyne Christiaan.. is there anyone here with the same surgeon? Any info will be highly appreciated to help me make a decision..

    Thanks

  11. Hey all

Iam new to this site.. at the moment I am considering lap banding.. however I am part excited and part scared.. not sure if this is "the answer" to my weight loss struggle.. but it gives me hope too..

I am 26yrs old and have had to battle my weight literally all my life! i have a BMI of 39 and the doc says that if i dont get it down i look at some serious health issues down the road.. years of dieting and exercise have got me no where.. hence this surgery..

i am scared about altering my life forever this way.. but i dont know if there is another option!

    sigh! so many questions!

is there anyone who could give me some advice? i guess im just scared of the idea of having surgery.. n then with my past failures at losing weight i'm afraid that it might not work now either!

    sigh!:help:
