boosh10 got a reaction from raquel_c in how long is the Gastric Sleeve surgery ?
Yea, that's what I keep reading. I guess the doctor says 3 hours , so if I'm in there for 2hrs, my mother is not having a heart attack in waiting room thinking I should have been done an hour ago. Lol

boosh10 reacted to downsizingdiva in PEOPLE ARE NOTICING AND I BOUGHT SZ 18 PANTS TODAY
I'VE WORN 24 FOR LITERALLY YEARS. I WENT SHOPPING TODAY BECAUSE MY JEANS ETC ARE FALLING OFF. I GOT 18 PANTS. I COULD HAVE DONE 16 BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY AND I WAS LEAVING THERE WITH SOME PANTS! ANYWAY I SEE NOW WHAT PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT HOW WEIRD IT IS TO LOOK FOR SMALLER SIZES AND ITS FUNNY THERE WERE MORE SIZE 24S IN THE STORE TODAY THAN I HAVE EVER SEEN BEFORE WHEN NOW I NEED 16/18. IT WAS FUNNY BECAUSE IT WAS ALL MOSTLY THE BIGGER SIZES. BUT MAYBE BEFORE LONG I CAN SHOP IN JUST MISSES INSTEAD OF PLUS TOO. BUT ANYWAY, ALMOST EVERYONE I HAVE RUN INTO IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS IS COMMENTING OR ASKING ABOUT MY WEIGHT LOSS. I REALLY TRY TO SHRUG IT OFF BUT IT IS SO FUNNY TO ME BECAUSE OTHER THAN MY CLOTHES BEING LOOSE I DON'T SEE IT YET, AT ALL. BUT I KNOW IT'S HAPPENING. I DON'T LIKE ATTENTION SO THIS IS THE PART I WAS SKIDDISH ABOUT IS WHEN PEOPLE START NOTICING. BUT I GUESS THAT MEANS IT'S WORKING!

boosh10 reacted to joatsaint in Where does it go? Where does the fat and inches go? Do they pack their bags and catch another victim off guard?
I think all the fat and inches wind up in the same place as all the missing pairs to socks - some kind of clothes dryer Bermuda Triangle thing going on! Spooky!!

boosh10 reacted to Kindle in prednisone (steroids) and the sleeve
Yes, steroids can cause gastric ulceration just like NSAIDS. At about 10 months postop I had some neurological symptoms in my neck (I've had a previous C5-C6 fusion). My PCP wanted me on a tapering dose of pred since This is what has always helped in the past. I consulted with my surgeon's office and they said it would be fine and advised that I take omeprazole while taking the pred, which I did. I went ahead and took sucralfate as well to double protect my stomach.

I've been on prednisone more times in my lifetime that any physician considers healthy. It was actually a big concern of mine going into surgery that I wouldn't be able to take steroids should I need them. My doctor said, they don't want me to take them if there's any way I don't have to, but if it comes down to me having to take it, he would prescribe it. Luckily I haven't needed to take them, my lungs have been good and my skin has been pretty well under control with topical steroids.

I'm in my first stall. So far it's been about a week. Started exactly at 3 weeks post op. I can't wait to see the scale moving again! It's driving me crazy!

I'm with you all... I am absolutely counting the minutes until my 2nd band adjustment (March 18!) as I have hit a stall 11 weeks post-op. Trying to be Zen about it, trying to stick to my diet and not get discouraged. Haven't weighed myself in a week but I can feel that I'm just 'sitting there' at 37 pounds lost. Maybe even 1 or 2 gained?
I will NOT get discouraged - it's all part of the process.

boosh10 reacted to LidiBell in Alcohol?
I drank this past Saturday and I am not brain dead. If that matters. Although, I may have been a lil brain dead before I drank. lol...I enjoy vodka with a splash of cranberry w/ lemon. I have no problems with those. Definitely can't eat and drink though. Priorities....I drink 1st. lol...J/K. Every doctor is different. Every patient is different. No need to get panties in a wad. If you want to have a drink, have one. If not, don't. Some people are strictly by the book, then theres us who live on the edge. lol...
BTW...I am 9 months post op.

Anyone had their surgery in Overlook hospital? Were you allowed to have your spouse or someone stay in your room overnight?

boosh10 reacted to Momof2inIowa in Very Excited!
I have to share my excitement!! I am 9.5 months out, 132 lbs down (YEA) and my 4 yr old asked me to go to a dance with him at his school!!! He was so sweet, asked if he could take me to dinner then to the Monther son dance. HOW cute is that??
Then I panicked....What am I going to wear!
I went into my closet and found some of my old dresses, they are HUGE on me now, but I have an option, then I had to get new shoes. I can't remember the last time that I wore heels!! so I had to go buy some, My "date" is tomorrow night. he wants to take me out to dinner (his choice is chinese food) My hubby is going to spot him some cash to put in his teenage mutant ninja turtle wallet so he can pay for the date too.
I am so excited to get all dolled up and go out on the town with my favorite little guy!
next weekend my daughter is going to a dance with my husband, she is very excited too! we are going that day to get our hair done and our toes painted, she is 5...such a fun time!!
I hope everyone is doing well!! I have some testing in the beginning of march due to some issues I was having with some pain they think could be spasms...going to have an endoscope on March 4th to check that out as well as a slight hiatal hernia to see if that could be causing some of the discomfort. Other than that doing really well and LOVING the weight loss.
