Did you all know that you were having a hernia repaired? Or was this something the doc discovered while he was in there?
-
Yea, that's what I keep reading. I guess the doctor says 3 hours , so if I'm in there for 2hrs, my mother is not having a heart attack in waiting room thinking I should have been done an hour ago. Lol
-
How long did your surgery take? My mother asked the PA and she said about 3 hours. I'm guessing that's worst case scenario, cause I keep reading different amounts of time.

What's the deal with alcohol? When can you have it post op? I am no way a big drinker, but i do like an occasional night out. Does it affect you differently? What can you NOT drink? Can you have a lot, or only a small amount? My date is scheduled for 1/21, I'm guessing celebrating st. Paddy's day is out of the question??! Lol

Ohhhh ok. I see. Thanks

Hello, I started my whole process in August and chest xr, blood work and ekg were only part of my pre op testing. I see everyone on here going for ultrasounds, cat scans, sleep apnea studies. I'm starting to feel worried that I didn't have to do all that. I'll bring it up to my Dr's attention on next visit, but should I be concerned. I mean...what if he goes in for surgery and I have a problem we didn't know about. Now...I'm scared!

And good luck to you Avermette!

I know.... I'm so excited, I can throw up! Lol
-
I'm so excited, but soooooo nervous. Good luck!! Where are you from?

Pending approval, we secheduled a date 1/21/15. I could have scheduled sooner, I I felt better having more time to mentally prepare and besides, I have way to much running around during the holidays! Any Sleevers in the new year yet????

My rheumy is only approving me to be off my Enbrel for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after. Nothing longer. I'm scared now cause the surgeon mentioned RA meds and leaking. Has ANYONE stayed on RA meds like Enbrel (not other meds like mtx, plaqunil) during this process?
-
Omg...there's sooooooo many to choose from!!!

Awesome. I was looking on other sites and they were expensive. Thanks Sooo much

lmao!!! that sounds good! I will give it a try. Im drinking a plain boring shake right now. And not totally crazy about it. It's the unjury strawberry sorbet. But it's just that and milk. I didn't tweek it. I need to start getting creative with these shakes. lol
keep the recipes coming. lol
what if you just started a recipe board?? or do they have something like that on this site, I don't know.

Don't go out of your way to find out, but if she happens to mention the name again, I'd appreciate it. I definitely would bring it up to my doctor @@GreenEyes604

I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis and I am currently taking Methotrexate and Plaquenil. I was told by the Nutritionist that I saw last week that I would need to stop all my medications 1 week prior to surgery, and would not be allowed to resume them until 3 weeks post op.
I just had my regular 6 month visit with my Rheumatologist, and she told me that I could stop all my medications for a month and shouldn't have any problems. She also told me that I could come into her office right before my surgery and she could give me a long lasting injection which would carry me through my 3 week post op period.
If you are at all considered, I strongly suggest that you discuss with your Rheumatologist what all your options are.
Best of luck to you!
Heyyy , did Your Dr. Happen to mention the name of that shot? Maybe I can look into it and talk to my doc?

I had my psych eval on Monday and without realizing that she was asking these questions for a reason. She asked if I get lower back pain? And joint pain and how I am with stairs? Well...stupid me, I Dont get back pain and I Dont really get winded on stairs. And its hard to determine if all my joint pain is from my rheumatoid arthritis or the weight on top of it. I did tell her that I can't squat though! I realized now that she was kinda helping me out saying...well, you prob would be a little better w/o the extra weight and so on. So...I'm wondering if she's going to put in the report that I can still do that stuff and the insurance will see it and deny it?!?!

Yes, I'm definitely going to discuss all options with my Rheumy. Surgeon said for about a month after. Hopefully, my RA will take it easy on me for that month. lol

This brings me to my other post on a different thread. The only testing I had done was an EKG, chest xr, and bloodwork. I didn't have an endoscopy, or ultrasound or cat scan... What if he sees something while he in there?? Are there signs/symptoms of a hernia?
