  1. What's the deal with alcohol? When can you have it post op? I am no way a big drinker, but i do like an occasional night out. Does it affect you differently? What can you NOT drink? Can you have a lot, or only a small amount? My date is scheduled for 1/21, I'm guessing celebrating st. Paddy's day is out of the question??! Lol

  2. Hello, I started my whole process in August and chest xr, blood work and ekg were only part of my pre op testing. I see everyone on here going for ultrasounds, cat scans, sleep apnea studies. I'm starting to feel worried that I didn't have to do all that. I'll bring it up to my Dr's attention on next visit, but should I be concerned. I mean...what if he goes in for surgery and I have a problem we didn't know about. Now...I'm scared!

  3. I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis and I am currently taking Methotrexate and Plaquenil. I was told by the Nutritionist that I saw last week that I would need to stop all my medications 1 week prior to surgery, and would not be allowed to resume them until 3 weeks post op.

I just had my regular 6 month visit with my Rheumatologist, and she told me that I could stop all my medications for a month and shouldn't have any problems. She also told me that I could come into her office right before my surgery and she could give me a long lasting injection which would carry me through my 3 week post op period.

If you are at all considered, I strongly suggest that you discuss with your Rheumatologist what all your options are.

    Best of luck to you!

Heyyy , did Your Dr. Happen to mention the name of that shot? Maybe I can look into it and talk to my doc?

  4. I had my psych eval on Monday and without realizing that she was asking these questions for a reason. She asked if I get lower back pain? And joint pain and how I am with stairs? Well...stupid me, I Dont get back pain and I Dont really get winded on stairs. And its hard to determine if all my joint pain is from my rheumatoid arthritis or the weight on top of it. I did tell her that I can't squat though! I realized now that she was kinda helping me out saying...well, you prob would be a little better w/o the extra weight and so on. So...I'm wondering if she's going to put in the report that I can still do that stuff and the insurance will see it and deny it?!?!
