    Anyone experiencing hair loss?

You might look into Biotin. They sell it at Walmart and grocery stores.
  2. I have worked nights a good part of my son's existence so he is very in tune with me most of the time. I usually gathered things that I know that he liked so they were in the same room with us. Call me a bad mom but I put little snacks like apples that were already cut up, his juice cups and such at the bottom of the fridge so with instruction he could go and get them. I talk very plainly to my son so he understands that we have to work together and I don't know it just works. So I guess gathering stuff you and he use, prepping snack or other food, coloring supplies, and napping together when need....I hope that helps some.

    Any Graveyard Banders?

Thanks Sengelken. I had prepared myself for a lot of things like chewing, listening to my body, making good food choices, etc but, returning to my shift on nights and managing everything seems to have been the most challenging. I will definitely look for the Quest bars and the tip about looking for diabetic friendly places is genius.

    Gas

Has anyone experienced more gas build up towards the end of the day? I tend to start my day fine. By the end of the day sometimes, not always my abdomen is just bubbling with gas. I'm 5 weeks out and walk except during my shift at work. I can only get 5 or so minutes off the phone a couple times a night other than lunch. I get relief at bedtime by walking and rubbing my abdomen. l just wondered if anyone else has this experience occasionally. It's not painful at this point just uncomfortable. My abdomen extends and it just sits trapped for a little some hours until it passes or I go to bed....
  5. Gained 4 pounds but I'm ok with it. Got a fill today whoo hoo!

    Genepro protein powder

I watched a YouTube demo about this stuff. It seems to mix well with just about anything. The actual taste and consistency are still a mystery to me though. Where did you order yours from CarmenLeAn?

    Liquids in the Pureed stage

Every Dr. is different. I stayed on the liquids a little longer because I found that I was having a very hard time tolerating mushies. When I went to mushies I found that like most people I enjoyed a shake in the morning as apposed to trying to swallow much else. That was fine with my Dr but my aunt who had surgery over 3 years ago was told that was a no no. I know it doesn't help much #just my experience

    Anyone experiencing hair loss?

When I lost weight a few years back, I had the same thing happen. I saw my Dr. and he informed me it was due mal-nourishment, mainly the lack of protein. I would check with your Dr but you may need to step up your protein. By the way are you taking vitamins?
  9. Containers are so important, especially when trying to stay in control of the quantity going in your face. I had a minor over eating episode. No painful just one or two bites too much...that's pretty uncomfortable.

  10. I have so much more control on my off days!

  11. Definitely be honest with your surgery staff. My surgeon explain that most peoples livers were usually small enough already but there is no way to just look at you and tell that your liver is big or small with out getting in there. I would definitely make sure not to cheat anymore but you may be fine.

    Am I eating too much?

I too am having a similar experience but, as I have explained in other posts, I am up 18-19 hours a day and work nights. My band was primed at surgery and I have a .7 fill for a total of 5.7 cc. I currently tolerate solids that are softer and have found that I am struggling to get in the foods higher in protein. Right now I supplement my protein with 1-2 shakes a day just so I get it in. I am convinced this is a mild case of bandster hell. The fact that you see a difference in your consumption of food however is still a triumph. It's important that you continue to listen to you body and realize when you are satisfied. Should you decide to get a fill you will find that your portions will decrease a little more. Best wishes!
  14. Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I know I need more sleep but right now it just can't be helped. I should also mention I have a primed band with 5 cc and .07 fill. I had satiety until I went back to work and started get less sleep and staying up all night. Darn it!
  15. I am having the hardest time with my eating now that I can have mushies. I work nights. This would be cut and dry if that is all I had going but I work an odd schedule, 8 p - 5 a. Once I get off in the morning I get my kid ready for school and drop him off by 7:45. Sometimes I go right to bed and sleep until about 1:30. From there I might make a few calls or load clothes, etc. At 2 I go get in line to get my kid from school. Once I get home I do homework and the day just continues on through my work cycle on into the next morning. As you can see from that shpill I am up from roughly 1:30 pm to about 8:00 am the next day...that is about 18-19 hours that I am up sometimes. Now that my hunger is increasing post op I find that I am eating more ...not nearly as much pre op but I'm having trouble timing things. I find that my sleep schedule is not consistent and for the moment it just can't be so sometimes eating makes laying down uncomfortable or I might go to bed and wake up so hungry my stomach is cramping and growling. Right now the only consistent window I have for exercise is the 1.3 mile walk to my sons school in the morning and 1.3 miles back. I live in Texas so 2:00 pm is the wrong time to be trying to walk up there! With the conventional schedule I keep right now it's just a little frustrating. I am also finding that I am eating/drinking more now that I am back at work. I was home for three weeks and had very little hunger. 3 meals/ Protein drinks (still fluctuating between full liquids and mu shies) satified me when I was home now I am hungry all the time. Oh dear.
  16. I'm getting hungry!

I have. I currently have 5.7 in my band. It was primed from the beginning with 5.00. I think I am just having issues with timing. I work nights so thing are backwards. I am up about 18-19 hours a day so figuring how much is enough to keep me satisfied is enough?

    Gas, Gas, & more Gas

I found and still find that if I walk a bit the gas dispels as well as massaging the abdomen in a mostly circular pattern.

    Threw up from mushy food?

    Taxman how is it going?
  19. I googled and came up with a number of results including the following http://www.medicinenet.com/lap_band_surgery_gastric_banding/miami-gardens-fl_city.htm . As 2muchfun suggested you might contact them and inquire if they provide aftercare for patients like yourself.

    Gonna try something new

What is the pouch test an the 5:2 diet? Sorry.
  21. Has anyone else had liquid put in their band and left in at the time of surgery. I found that I had 5 cc at the time of surgery at my first fill. I now have 5.7 cc anyone else?

Liquid in band at time of surgery

My hunger hasn't been bad it has only increased in this last week. Chewing is going relatively well. I should have known there were fluids in my band when eggs stumbled down once (they didn't get stuck but it was very uncomfortable).
  23. Hello All! Tomorrow morning is the day! I get banded ladies and gents. I've got my rx's, heating pad, liquids, gas-x, chapstick, loose clothes, and this feeling of anticipation. The day is finally here. For those of you who have speaking with me on the board you know that I have been working really hard to listen to my body. My goal was to begin retraining my brain before being banded. As with everything else in my life I find that if I prepare myself I tend to do well with what I do. I've learned so much just getting ready for surgery, being on the pre-op diet, and I've already had a few non scale victories. I managed to complete my pre-op diet with out trouble, I've listened to my body every step of the way and I feel like a million bucks. I work tonight and then I am off to surgery tomorrow. Any last words of wisdom.....

6:30 am I get banded! Tomorrow!

Hello all! I have been on electronics restriction (thanks to my loving boyfriend). I am back and feeling great! Surgery went very smoothly. I did have a pretty good size hernia that had to be repair but get this I didn't get the dreaded back pain from all the gas and stuff. My pain was minimal I did a lot of moving around that first week...with limits of course. Thank you for all you thoughts and prayer....banded finally and 11lbs down!
