  1. Sorry Chelle! I thought you meant the phrase that others used....I need to read more carefully.
  2. That's awesome Chelle! Great post....LOL! Not that I haven't used this before, but I"m really sick of "24/7" and "From Day 1". And because I"m half British....I'm tired of the way they throw in "and at the end of the day" to sum up every conversation!

    I stand corrected.

It's really hard to respond when you keep adding things. Did I say my e-mail was special or full of gossip? Where is this coming from? Lauren has already quoted it. Wendell said he would send out proof if people e-mailed him. So I requested him too. He chose not to.

I've been reading here for months without joining. I only jumped in because my name was mentioned on a post. Nothing sinister here. I belong to several groups, as well as Moderate on a lot of them. You're likely to find me in lots of places.

Your claim about OH having a "pack mentality" and LBT not having one is getting weak. You 3 needed to discuss whether or not to respond to private mail I sent to Wendell???? Think about that one. Again, and I am sorry if I keep repeating myself (is anyone listening?), I am not "you guys" or "them". I am not OH. Quit lumping me in with people who you think I belong with. I have never seen a PM from any of you in question. Not sure who's passing junk around, but I haven't seen it.

I don't know if this is directed to me, but I don't know who you're talking about.

So that's a third person who has access to my mail. All the more reason to keep my mouth shut.

You're missing my point. I am not part of a particular group. I had my protein drink opinions years before I ever joined OH. But I'm only speaking for myself.

I don't really know Caeli, and have no idea what Ron would do. Don't really know him either. But if people have similar opinions, say, for instance, about protein shakes, that they are in a clique? My doctor told me not to drink them. My fill doctor told me not to drink them. But because I agree with that, doesn't mean I am in a clique. If they work for you and you are losing weight drinking them, then more power to you. But lots of newbies have taken the advise of some, and have turned these drinks into high calorie shakes with peanut butter, chocolate syrup, bananas, etc., and justified it because it has protein in it. Then they wonder why they don't lose weight. It is one area to examine. Again, if it works great, but I wouldn't advise anyone to drink them. What got old, was the daily recommendation to drink them...whether or not it is an actual recommendation, or subliminal, the message is there. If someone comes to the board and states every day that they drink and love soda, they will probably get the same reaction out of me. I am free to disagree with someone.

This might sound naive, but I've been on many, many weight loss boards, and I honestly have not seen that much bad advise. There are things that I may not agree with, but I wouldn't call it "harmful". Mostly what I see is helpful, and if it's not, I disregard it. I know at 3 years out I have a bit more insight than a newbie, but even then I could spot something that wasn't quite right.

Now that I think about it, I don't think I've seen this person around since. I do doubt the story, as I couldn't even get V8 juice down at 6 days post-op, let alone chicken! I cannot imagine going through surgery, and not caring enough to stick with a brief period of liquids.

Good decision on both your parts. You know you could have pushed and got your fill. I'm glad you didn't. You're so close to goal. Fills at this point, even small ones, can be disasters, especially if your fill doc leaves town.

Even better...she didn't care if something happened to her band, because SHE HAD LEARNED TO EAT SLOWLY AND CHEW HER FOOD, which she felt she could now do without a band.

Work, I don't know if you saw the post a while back by a newbie, claiming she was eating everything, including chicken, because she thought she was healed at 6 days post-op. Her basis for this was because she was a "fast healer". She knew exactly what she SHOULD be doing, but chose not too. We'll see how that turns out.

I personally know what our patients get for the post-op period, but sometimes they get amnesia, or just need reassurance.

I think it is a combination of information overload to patients and doctors not explaining anything. How many docs explain WHY the post op diet is so critical? People think it is a matter of swelling and as soon as they can eat food, they do. If swelling has gone down enough that solids go down, they believe they are good to go. They have no idea what it is that is healing. If docs would take some time and explain about the reasons for the post op diet the chances are more folks would stick to it. Shame on the docs that aren't explaining this. I see it every day on the various boards though. "I feel fine and can eat anything, and I'm only 1 week post-op". They never post before they eat, but then they'll come on and ask if they did any damage, after they ate the pizza!

I would hope that people would follow the advise of their surgeon, and not follow anyone's advise on the internet, licensed, unlicensed, or layperson. Sorry, I was trying to respond to Susan's post.

I have said many times, including to the people who do it...I think removing threads is the most cowardly thing you can do. Even worse, leaving the thread, but taking out all the posts you don't agree with. I can't imagine crying to the Moderators to have something removed. I guess the only situation where I might consider it, would be if my privacy were violated somehow. That would be the only reason.
