    Feeling like a failure

I'm three weeks out and doing the pureed thing. But honestly I just want to eat cream of wheat...made with fat free milk... and apple sauce. My tummy loves them. I tried scrambled eggs yesterday, and while they stayed down, tummy did not enjoy them and I have no desire t o try them again. At least not in the near future. Interestingly enough, eggs were a staple for me before the sleeve. I simply enjoyed them. I wish cream of wheat and apple sauce were all protein foods. I would be a happy camper.

    When is popcorn okay?

Ok, so my two food addictions were coffee and popcorm. The coffee I went cold turkey when I started my pre op and I wished death would claim me the first 6 days. I basically took to my bed and stayed there. Popcorm...... home made with olive oil and no salt or light sea salt. It was my comfort food...all year round. My surgeon forbids it..period. Will I eventually try it one day? Maybe when I'm over a year out. I have enough coffee and popcorm in my pantry to open a small store.

    Hair loss

I have had three c sections, one 15 months apart from the other. 14 months later I had vein stripping on both leggs. That was 25 years ago. 16 years ago another c section, then 3 years after that open hernia repair and appendectomy. Twenty eight stitches!!!!! Home for 6 weeks with a visiting nurse and a home attendant. Didn't lose one single strand! After any of these major surgeries. Lets hope my trend keeps up.

    Drain Phobia

I had a drain for 10 long days. NO BIG DEAL!!!! A small thing for such a reward. I was working myself up into a small fit when it was time for my surgeon to take it out. Asking her if I should take a deep breath, or hold my breath, etc. I even warned her i planned to say ouch. She suddenly said ok, sit up. Long story short.....she had taken the drain out, I had no idea when.....and was just smiling at ne. Didn't feel a THING!!!! You can do this girl.
  8. I was not allowed any food for the first 10 days. Just water and broth. Thankfully I had no desire for food. Now 19 days later I'm still on pureed food and keeping it very simple. Cream of wheat, applesauce and pureed chicken soup. Plus two shakes a day. I'm having a really difficult time eating all this food. I have to constantly watch the clock and schedule a meal. I'm having and even more difficult time with the 64 ozs of water. I have no idea how people are doing it.

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

I was sleeved July 18th. Came home 12 pounds heavier. Took me 5 days to lose it. At my 10 day post op appt I had l Iost 4 pounds. My doctor tried to hide her disappointment. When I told her of the 12 pounds weight gain she admittedI was now putting out enough urine during the surgery so they just kept pumping fluids into me. I've lost a total of 15 pounds in the 19 days since my surgery.

    Out 7 Days & Pissed

I had my surgery on July 18th. My doctor did not have office hours on the day of my one week post op. I had to wait until the monday pm, which was 10 days later. While it was annoying to have the drain that long, it was not painful and it had stopped draining around the 8th day. If it's painful you should call the office and let them know.

  13. Hi, I'm 14 days post of and I guggle and bubble all day. I know it mainly happnes when I'm getting full. I'm on full liquids now and will start pureed tomorrow. The feeling is uncomfortable and annoying, but I've accepted it as part of the process. I'm so sorry you are feeling sad. Is something else going on ? If the food is giving you problems right now, why not just stick with broth and warm tea for awhile? Just give it a chance and go with the recovery process. I had a horrible first 10days. I must say at 14 days out today, I feel great. Almost like the surgery never happened. Hang in there, it will get better.

    Couple of questions

I am 13 days post op. How in the world are you able to get that much liquids in. It's now 6 pm and I have to continue to almost 10 pm to complete my liquids. I started at 8 am. I am only able to eat 3 ozs of soup and it takes me half an hour. I am exhausted by the eating and drinking. I feel like its all I do and think about all day. Also, it I try to push the amount I get the HURT signal and I don't like that.
  16. Hey CandyPants81, how are you? When was surgery? Mine was July 18th. I just started protein shakes on Tuesday and I cannot stand them either. I lived on bariatric advantage for two weeks pre op and now I am unable to bring the glass to my mouth. I'm in the pureed stage and just want to eat cream of wheat. How does someone drink 64 ozs of water, shakes etc, unless you get up at 6 am and keep at it until 10pm at night. I'm exhausted by the process. I can't hold anymore fluids and I refuse to puree eggs, yuck! How many grams of protein are you getting?

    Hit a stall

OK, so I had my surgery on 7/18/14. I came home 12 pounds heavier than on surgery date. I was devastated even if in my head I knew it was all the fluids they pumped into me in the hospital. It took me 5 days to get back to surgery weight. I was only four pounds down at my first post op appt on Monday the 28th. I must admit my surgeon could barely contain her disappointment. I just spent ten days on Water and chicken broth and had lost 4 pounds. Today I am down 10 days since surgery 13 days ago. I am happy with my numbers. Unlike many, I don't want big numbers every month. I wants to lose a steady 10-12 per month. When it happens I will be very happy. I know my body and I already know I will be a slow loser and I've made peace with that. I have never lost 10 pounds in 13 days.........ever......so I'm just grateful. Now for the negative nellies....girl I told NO ONE!!!. I know it's too late for you to choose that option, but now you'll have to get into your own head and work this gift you have given yourself. Put the blinders on and get tunnel vision. I have no one physically to support me through this journey, but I'm almost relieved that I don't have anyone watching. I wish you the strength to continue on your journey and achieve the very best life for yourself.

    You've lost enough

I totally understand. Again, this is one of the many reasons i choose not to tell people about my journey. Will I one day? After I'm finished and reach goal? Maybe. But then will I constantly be watched to see if I gain a pound back? I plan to work very hard on my weight loss. I'm only 10 days post op. But from reading many comments on here, it appears a big part of the journey is mental. I honestly cannot discuss my process with random people who are not invested in the process on a daily weekly or monthly basis.I know my personality. It would not work for me. It appears I will be a slow loser and I'm so Ok with that. I honestly don't want 30 pounds in a month. 10-12 and I will be very happy. I have never be able to to that on my own.......EVER!!

Yes, I had surgery in Brooklyn, NY. I finally saw my surgeon the following day around 4pm and could not wait to ask her why I was in surgery that long. She had previously told me the surgery would be one to two hours long. She did know of the three previous c sections and was prepared for the possibility that there may be some scar tissue. That's why she stated it may last about two hours. She stated the scar tissue was in the way and had to be removed before she could even begin. She understood how emotional I felt about waking up and finding out I had been in surgery that long. She explained I did well the entire time and I was never in any danger. I felt better after she spoke with me. Overall I'm doing well I guess. I will have my first visit with her tomorrow. Hopefully get my drain out and be put on some kind of food. But enough about me. How are you feeling? Is it difficult being NPO? Am I reading you correctly, your vgs surgery was 5 ½ hours? Why did it take so long? My understanding is that the surgery is around an hour. Did yiu have surgery in the US? I am so sorry you are having to go through this. From what I've read teaks do heal in time...keep us updated!
