Any 2014 July Sleevers out there?
finediva replied to crazykim's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@dannilynn1. Well how much was he expecting you to lose? Almost 70lbs in 4months is alot of weight. I don't understand. I was sleeved on July 18th and have lost 44 pounds in four months. I sit here every day praying that this fat will come off my body. Were you disappointed that your doctor was disappointed in your progress? And did he give you a number he would've been happy with? How many calories are you eating at this point? Thanks. -
Help carb junkie!
finediva replied to Melissayw816's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So are you making the wontons baked with cheese and pepperoni or buying them? Are you actually going to the store and buying these items or are they in the house for other family members? Either way, the more you eat the more likely you'll want more. -
Mine was done the day after surgery. Until my surgeon got the result I was not allowed to have anything by mouth.

@yescobar. I could not stomach the thick sweet shakes I used during pre op. Now I mix unflavored powder in skim milk and I like it. It just taste like milk. I never drank milk before, but I have ever had my stomach cut out before. I drink the protein because I have to. I'm currently unable to eat enough proteins.

@finediva. Oh yeah. Girlfriend gained three pounds! No, not water weight. Three pounds of good old fat. Smh, again.

@Eclectick. You know going to bed early worked for me during the pre op diet. I also tried to stay in bed as long as I could in the mornings. A lot of that had to do with the fact that for the first time in over 30 years I had to start my day without a 20 ounce mug of sweet strong coffee. I just didn't want to get out of bed. Going to sleep early, not as early as you are, meant I got to put the dreadful day behind me and get closer to surgery day. It took me 11 days to no longer care about food. Eleven horrible days. Then I didn't want anything. Go figure. Stay strong and play whatever mind games you have to to get through. Best

12 says post op, best I've felt, yet regret I did it
finediva replied to nprcowboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Look, step far away from the regret. Did you? Good. It's wasted energy, and will only serve to make you feel worst about this wonderful decision you made to get healthy. So, it will get 100% better, soon. For the first ten days I was allowed water and broth. Period. I felt like a wet rag. On day eleven I drank some skim milk. OMG! You would of thought I ate a full course meal! My body responded both physically and mentally. So, IT WILL GET 100% BETTER, SOON. Best. -
Well, it's all you can eat now. Remember when it took me forever to eat four spoonfuls of crean of wheat ( at two weeks out). Now I eat about a half cup, usually less, of stuff. If I try to push it, I pay with pain and it's not pretty.

That time of the month...and catheter?
finediva replied to dashofsunshine's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes they do put a CAT in after you are under and remove it at the end of the procedure. I had a CAT during my 5 1/2 hour surgery, but had no knowledge of it. -

They have seen it all and done it all. They'll take excellent care of you. Just take your nap and wake up on the looser side. Best. -

Give me a hot cuo of coffee, with stevia, in the morning and I'll take you to heaven with me! OMG, the simple things that make us happy.

Is it better to eat your protein or drink your protein?
finediva replied to tamg26k's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm finding it's impossible for me to get even 60 gms of protein a day unless I put a scoop of protein powder in my morning coffee (21gms). I just cannot eat enough. My doctor does not want me to use it, but I'm at a loss as to what else I can do. -
After 2 years! Finally found my word.

@nmorenol. I asked for a Valium while I was in the surgery holding room. I was given one, no questions asked. I was about to ask for another one when they came and got me. Laid on the table, saw the guy starting my iv, then the next I was waking up. So, ask for some anxiety meds. They should accommodate you. Best.

Everyone's tolerance for pain is very different, so you'll get many different responses here. That being said, of course there is some pain at the incision sites, for many people, the largest one where they remove your stomach. In the hospital there is pain meds and you are given a prescription to fill when you leave. Use your meds as needed. BTW, my surgeon explained that there is no pain felt from the actual stomach. It was true for me. My pain involved my incisions and I stopped pain meds by day three. Best.

Tomorrow, with a nod to the composers of Annie the musical

@jessiquoi. Ok, so this is the BEST post I've ever read on here! Best to you tomorrow. -
@Recycled. Do you have to add salt when you make your own jerky? Never eaten any kind of jerky in the past as I'm sensitive to salt.
-
@juliedishman. I make decaf coffee and add a scoop of unflavored protein powder. After dissolving the coffee in a very small amount of boiling water I use hot skim milk, about 8ozs, as the rest of the liquid. I also dissolve the protein powder in about 4 ozs of cold skim milk. Then gradually add the hot milk to bring it up to temperature. If you don't do this it will clump. Takes a few minutes, but I end up with a yummy hot protein coffee. Also, add stevia if needed.

@naturreal. I was told my sleeve can hold up to half cup. I'm 4 months out this Thursday. Definitely not up to half cup as yet. Also, I was told no drinking with food, and to wait an hour later. I wait about 1 1/2 hrs before I drink.
