I would check with your doctor first, but Colace is really good. You can buy it off the shelf. I took it with a previous surgery, when I broke my arm and was on pain meds and my sister is taking it because she just had a baby. Seems safe, but check with your doctor first to be on the safe side!

Tell me about it! I never knew how much I missed chewing my food!! Lol!

Am 2 weeks post op with my RNY and I feel like a freaking shut in! My friends invite me out, but 90% of their outings include going out to eat. I can't stand just sitting there and watching other people eat. And there is pretty much nothing I can eat at this point. It's not like I can bring my own food to the restaurant. How do you all deal with this?!

I will
How are you feeling?

I agree. I had my RNY on the 14th and I think I feel hungry all the time. So I just put an eat time app on my phone and set it to remind me to eat every 3 hours. I try to measure out my Protein Drinks, but when I am eating anything else, I can tell when I am done. I'm looking forward to feeling normal again!

Good luck! The actual surgery was the easy part for me. Let me know how you are doing once you are feeling coherent!

Dr Todd did my RNY on July 14th.

Hello there! I live in the Mat-Su Valley. I had my RNY on the 14th. I am also looking for fellow Alaskans to be in contact with. Because there are LOTS of questions to be asked and support is really needed!!

I feel like I'm starving all the time. I had surgery on Monday the 14th. I'm feeling great. But I just feel hungry. I am eating every 3 hours. I eat all kinds of things, Protein Shakes, cream of wheat, refried Beans, creamed Soups. Not sure what I am doing wrong!

@ Angel
I sit on my bottom all day! Lol! I work up front at a medical office and pretty much talk on the phone and roll around my tiny office in my chair. I probably do more at home than I do at work!

I am in the middle of my first outing today. I walked around a small pet store fine. Then we hit Super Walmart. Walked the entire store before I gave up and sat down. I'm letting the other finish up without me. No pain meds since yesterday. Will probably take some when I get home though! Whew!

I had surgery 7/14 and am planning to go back to work Monday.

Can I add butter to the cream of wheat?

I had my surgery 7/14. I am home and in my own bed. I am not necessarily in pain from my incisions. But I do have a rumbly belly full of gas that can't find it's way out. Anyone have any has reliefs tips?

Pain isn't all that bad. The shortness of breath sucks and my gassy tummy rubles is not pleasant.

My weight right now is 284. My assigned goal weight is 180. (I'm 5'10") But I sure will have a party if I see I one in the front of any of it. I haven't seen that since high school!

I am scheduled for RNY on July 18th. At this point I'm not nervous, but I'm sure it will come! I do not have to do the liquid diet, thankfully. I say my doctor Thursday for my H&P and he asked I lose 2 pounds before surgery. I am sticking to my diet and am determined not to cheat!
Good luck with your surgery!!
