  1. I have surgery in November 2014. I had about 100 pounds to lose. I lost right at 50 pounds by the following June. I haven't lost since.

I'm eating whatever I want. And it's very carby. Cookies, potatoes, sherbet, bread. Whatever looks good at the moment.

I need to get my motivation back. It wasn't hard to do the healthy diet when I was doing it. It's just so easy to not do it. Know what I mean?

So, kick my butt. Tell me what I already know but have been ignoring. Help me get myself back on track!!

  2. I used the pre-surgery time to fill the freezer with things they could heat and eat, or bake and eat. I knew I wouldn't want to cook for a while after.

Now, three months post surgery, I make dinner as usual, though I am making better meals than I used to (lower carb, more veggie choices, leaner proteins) and I don't eat everything I serve, and I don't eat as much, of course

The other night, I made chili dogs and tater tots. (As an example of a not-so-healthy meal). But I used all-beef hot dogs, turkey chili (low fat), and also served salad. They ate everything; I ate one hot dog, with chili and a sprinkling of cheese (no bun) and salad. No tots.

Pretty much anything I would make for my family, I can eat myself. They eat more bread and carbs that I do, but there's still plenty on the table for me to enjoy.

  3. I swear, I've been in a constant stall since the day of surgery. Seems like I never lose anything, then one day I wake up and pounds are gone, and I'm already back in a stall.

Seriously, it's about that bad. My "days in stall" hugely outnumber my "days losing weight". But the overall trend is down, so I figure that's just how my body works.

  4. OK, three months post-surgery and I am noticing i'm losing hair at a bit of a faster rate than normal. So far, it's not too bad, and I'm working on the exercise and Protein, eating Gelatin, and in general trying to support good Hair growth.< /p>

But I AM noticing lots of hair breakage. I mean, seriously - I may not be going bald from Hair loss, but I'm going crazy with breakage.

Any ideas on how to prevent breakage?

If it helps, I use Pantene most of the time. Once or twice a month I'll use Neutrogena.

  5. I'm almost exactly 3 months post-op, and Ive lost 35 pounds. I've lost NOTHING in the last 3 to 4 weeks. And Im eating damn near anything I can cram in my mouth.

I know it's anxiety I'm eating, but I don't know what's behind the anxiety, what I need to deal with to eliminate the anxiety.

But in the meantime, I need my butt kicked! I'm eating potatoes, rolls, Pasta (OK, not a lot of Pasta, but still), rice, even drinking a glass or two of wine a few times. I'm not paying attention to my Protein, I'm sipping Water while I eat, and I'm eating (grazing) all day long.

OK, not so much while I'm at work, because - well, work - between I get home.

I've noticed my portion sizes are slowly increasing. I'm out of control!

I am taking control back. This is my body, it is my choice wha I put into it, how I treat it, and how I feel in it. I have fallen off the wagon, so to speak. But I don't have to stay off.

  6. I've been kinda grumpy about my weight loss - I've lost right at 30 pounds in two months since surgery. But, honestly, most of that time has been a stall - seems like the weight loss happened over just a few days and the rest of the time, nothing happened.

THEN I realized that what I've actually done is lose 1/3 of the weight I want to lose in just 2 months. Put it that way, it sure sounds like a lot!

As with most things in life, it's all in how you look at it.

  7. "Whatever makes you happy, you do" isn't the same as being supportive. "How can I help?" Is supportive.

My hubs said the same thing to me for years - not just about my weight. He thought he was being a supportive husband, but what he was really dating was "do whatever you want. As long as it doesn't affect me, make yourself happy".

Talk to him. Do a trial run, so to speak, for a month or so of the kind of diet you envision eating after surgery. His portions will be larger than yours, but unless you want to make your healthy dinner and his crappy dinner every night, he will have to get on board with the healthy eating.

Tell him how much you need his actual support and encouragement. Talk about setting your kids up for A healthy lifestyle.

If he is resistant at first, don't give up - change isn't easy for anyone and he may work through his resistance and be your biggest cheerleader.

    Or he may not.

  8. Today is Wednesday. Monday night, pretty much all night, I was vomiting. First time I've been sick like that since surgery. I think I've had a virus, because my hubs is doing it now.

Anyway, today I have pain around me, right at the bottom of the ribcage. Only feel it when o cough or laugh or something like that.

So, is ur likely sore muscles from all the vomming, or did I vom so hard I've created a leak? I see my surgeon on Friday, but should I call in now?

  9. You've nothing to feel bad about - you weren't mean, or cruel, you didn't comment on her weight or tell her she needed to lose weight. You just didn't tell her something you (apparently) did know. We all make our own food choices, and she can make hers without or without you telling her where the buffet is.

If that's what she really wanted, she probably found it.
