    Nerve Damage

YES! Same situation with me. My right thigh hurts daily and my surgery was 10 months ago. I just bare with it tho because I also have chronic fibromyalgia and pain meds make me ill.
  4. @sunnylady98 Put yourself first, I wish you well
  5. I have found that all those "crunchy" Snacks are so high in sodium and processed ingredients and the prices are pathetic! One would fair much better making your own IMO.
  6. Oh Yes...NEW NORMAL HERE...even moving to another state...ALONE...GO ME!!! Happy Healthy New Year 2 All!!!
  7. Ninety days ago yesterday was my surgery date and I feel as though I was just released from the hospital due to all the drama I have suffered. Things are somewhat better because I had to remove myself from the main person who continues to disturb my peace, my only daughter. Oh yes it bothers me very much but I can no longer internalize and worry about or address her dysfunctional, emotional rages that she places on me. My main priority is to be healed and move on with my life. No matter who and what has to go my answer is ...bye, bye, bye!!! Can anyone else relate to the need to adjust some people in your life to focus on yourself?
  8. @@ReneK, thanks for simply caring! I am still struggling a bit emotionally but getting better. I so wish you well during your pre surgery prep. Please drop me a note regarding your progress. I was just in your shoes a few months ago. I am here to chat anytime! :-)
  9. @, ty so much!!! I made you my friend and I will be checking in soon, have a wonderful day. :-)
  10. Help me successful people, what max daily carb number works for you? Thanks :-)

    African American RNY Sisters

Hello ladies, just wanted to let you know I am here and following this group :-)!
  12. I have been a vege/vegan for a number of years now. I had my RNY about 90 ago and am doing well. It's all about researching because there are plenty of Protein rich, delicious, plant based dishes available.

    Food Waste

OMG have I thrown away food, the answer is how much! I have found that what I ate before is not what my new tummy wants anymore. So most of the food I that I have put in the garbage disposal is good, healthy food that makes me vomit. Meal planning is so difficult now. I am three months out and still moving very slow in respect to foods. I am basically eating the same few dishes that I can tolerate over and over again.
  15. I had an RNY and a gallbladder removal on 7/24/15 and I am REALLY struggling emotionally!!! My food is good for the most part (I do dump sometimes tho) and weight loss is good too but my main issue is severe loneliness. I have NO ONE that I can discuss anything with or anyone for that matter that understands the new changes in my life. I lost my best friend due to this surgery (my changes were too much for her) so she did not come to help me during my recovery as promised (she lives in another state). I talk to her rarely now but it is very difficult because I am still hurting deeply. I am divorced and my two adult children are not supportive either. They have never been much anyway because they are so selfish. They emotionally abused me by starting confrontations the same week I came home from the hospital. Since they have chosen to disrespect my healing process I only interact with them when necessary. I have always been a strong, private woman (the one who others reach out to) and pride myself for not being what I call "needy" but my sadness has become so severe that I now know that I need to reach out. I need interactive, consistant people who want to be friendly and share. I am looking to not only be supported but I am looking to be supportive as well. There are no good WLS support groups in my area so I am reaching out here, thanks for listening! :)

I am so sorry you are going through this. Support is certainly very important at this time, so I hope we here on this board can be of some support to you! My surgery was about 6 weeks before you (RNY on June 4).

    Hummus

@@BLERDgirl , So happy to see another plant based convert, there are not many of us on here :-)! Hopefully you will not mind me asking you some questions. I am now a vegan about 95% of the time since my surgery. Before that I was a strict vegan for almost a year. How well are you doing with your plant based lifestyle after the surgery with your Protein? What do you eat? Do you eat any grains, i.e. quinoa, etc.? When were you able to eat a salad, something I am craving...lol? My surgery was only 3 months ago, still trying foods and many make me vomit. Thanks in advance for your help. May I send you a friend request?

I lost my best friend due to this surgery (my pending changes were to much for her) and she did not come to help me during my recovery (she lives in another state). 18. I am a newbie and SO happy to see this subject discussed! For those who have had the WLS do you have any digestion problems with a plant based diet? Has weight loss been quicker or more steady without meat? Do you focus more on the protein sources after surgery?
