What do you do for a living?

I graduate law school in May. Then I will disappear for 3 months while I take the bar exam. Then Hubby is taking me on a cruise and hopefully I'll be bathing suit ready by August! Then I will work at a lawyer for the firm I work for now, doing family law and Social Security disability (and maybe some criminal law).
  2. I wanna come! anytime is fine with me

    What did you eat today?

Breakfast - 1/4 of a cinnamon roll lunch - 4 peices of sushi dinner - 1 taco desert - 1/2 a sugar free ice cream bar total calories on fit day 1150

how did you eat BEFORE the band vs after

Let's use your two examples: Taco bell before band - 1 Nacho grande, 1 supreme taco and a frito burrito with band - 1/2 a nacho order Golden Corral before band - everything with band - a few bites of a few things Before the band I tried diets but my problem was that I couldn't resist the food demons and I would go binging after dieting. Now, when I have good restrictions (which it took a few fills to get that) I have no problem with portion size. I do feel full and satisfied after one taco or whatever. And there's so many times I say "that looks so good but I literally couldn't eat another bite" and I'm serious! Now, that said, I still think I'm a slower loser than some because I make bad food choices. I shouldn't be eating at Taco Bell, regardless of whether it's one taco or 5! It's junk food! I don't desire food in the same way I did before but I still get cravings for fast food or whatever, and I have to try to deal with it like I tried before, but I can deal with it better with my band b/c I can't deny myself Taco Bell for lunch and then go eat 8000 calories at dinner.

    Vomiting / HiCups

I never had hiccups before my last fill but now I get them alot, I think it's from eating too fast.

    Whooohooo - I did it!

Yeah for you and here's wishing you a speedy recovery. try the isopure vanilla - tastes ALOT better!
  8. I track my calories on fitday - everyday for 3 months now. It helps alot, escpecially to hold myself accountable when I eat a hershey kiss or two or three - It all adds up. Right now I am eating about 1500 cal. per day. I would really like to get that down to 1200, but I need to make better food choices!

    scars and tanning

I really want to go to the tanning salon but I don't know how it will effect my scars. Is it bad for scars? I guess I could cover them with a bandaid. What do you all think?

    Low BMI

I started with a BMI of 38. I had some things I guess you could consider co-morbidities: knee problems, back pain, a hiatal hernia and GERD. I think doctors don't care if you have co-mobid issues as long as you are self-pay (like me). Always been the "big boned girl", my weight loss has been slow, but slow and steady so that's good, right. Good luck to you!

    Letters to loved ones....

I emailed DeLarla and gave her my phone # and asked her to check up on me if I didn't come back to this website. Looking back I was SOOO freaked out because I had never had surgery but it was seriously no big deal. I came out of the aneshtetic better than when I had a twilight sleep for a colonoscopy. I'm not scared of surgery anymore, and NOONE has ever died in band surgery. I think a few people have died of complications but it's just times like the surgeon nicked thier stomach and they had problems but didn't go back for follow up. Point is, everything will be fine, and if something doesn't feel right afterwards, call your doc! Anyways, you'll be fine!!!!

    scared to eat ANYTHING!

Also, my fill doc always blames it on me - says it's what I ate or how I chewed,,.,, well, I understand he wants to cover his ass, but the bottom line is there is no science to fills and sometimes a fill can be too tight even if you are being a perfect bandster!

    scared to eat ANYTHING!

drink some coffee - the warmth usually soothes my throat. get an unfill - I felt this way before, and it's a vicious cycle of being stuck and swollen. My .2 cc unfill made a HUGE difference.

Pregnancy okay at 4 months post-op?

My doc is VERY adamant about waiting 18 months! I've also heard and read that losing weight while pregnant can greatly increase your chances of your baby having obesity problems in the future. I understand wanting a baby but if you are ready now you'll likely be ready in another 8 months! DO what's best for yourself and the baby and wait!
  18. This is so silly but maybe some of you remember my signature before my surgery that said "NSV I'm most looking forward to - being able to wrap a towel around me after the shower without 1/2 my fat belly and a boob hanging out." The reason I wrote that is because it was that sight that convinced me I needed surgical intervention. Well, just now, I got out of the shower, wrapped a towel around me, and looked in the mirror - no fat hanging out, no boob hanging out, the towel went ALL the way around me like a normal sized person. I know this sounds silly but it's the only NSV I've had so far that has brought tears to my eyes! So, at least for today I hopefully won't be too upset about being a slow loser, when at least I reached one goal! :clap2:

    First NSV

Awesome! I hate jogging so I think it's an NSV in itself that you motivated yourself to jog, and then you get another NSV for actually being able to job! So, 2 gold stars for you my friend!
  20. lovecats85

I just had a NSV - a big one for me!

I'm sorry - I just re-read DeLarla's comment and I'm rollin on the floor laughing now. The things some gyms/schools/etc pass off as towels. It did suck being the chunky girl in school and having that "towel" that wouldn't cover anything! Maybe someday I'll be able to use one of those towels, but for now I'm content that my towels I have at home go all the way around me now! Anyways, I do have pics posted under the before and after pics thread.

I just had a NSV - a big one for me!

NSV= Non scale victory Thanks all of you! It might be a slightly oversized towel, but it's still one of my same towels that 1/2 my belly fat and one boob hung out of before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Breakfast

I cannot eat breakfast. I cannot eat before 11 or 12 or I will PB it. I try to have a protein shake but usually end up with just coffee. But sometimes I do drink a creamy chicken soup at hand.

Steak at 8 days post op.

thought you said steak for b-day, but you said 8 day. I'm obviously blurry eyed tired!

Steak at 8 days post op.

Haha, shortly after my surgery my hubby made a steak and I dipped at the juice, and then I was overcome with carnivorism and I took a huge bite, chewed on it, sucked out the juice, and spit it out. It was gross that I did that but it satisfied that craving! Happy Bday to you!
