    6 weeks right

I had 10 days of burping after a fill once and I had to go get some fill removed - nothing was wrong but I was TIRED of burping. I suspect you're just a little tighter b/c of time of the months, something you are inflamed your tummy, or dehydration and the surge of tightness is causing the burping. Probably nothing to worry about - I have gone thru many exessive burping spells since being banded.

    Alcohol After Surgery ???

I drank a margarita like 3 weeks after surgery. My doc has no restrictions on drinks (other than avoid high calorie drinks generally). My doc even said I could have carbonation after 5 weeks but I cannot tolerate carbonation at all and now I've gone so long without it I can't even stand the way carbonated drinks taste. Anyways, I drink margaritas and cosmoplitans and wine all the time! Spare me the lectures on how it's high calorie - I'd rather drink than eat dessert and if anyone out there can get through law school without drinking on the weekend I'd love to know HOW!!!! I say CHEERS and happy drinking - just remember, as with everything in life, "in moderation"!

    Airplane Seats

I weighed 245 when I got banded. I went to Vegas a few months before that and fit in the seat just fine. You'll be fine!
  6. It's my 6 month bandiversary so I thought I'd update with pictures. I don't think I look that much different in the pictures, but I feel better and my pre-surgery clothes don't fit! Can't wait to see how I look when I lose all the weight and get some plastic surgery! Thanks for all or your support - couldn't have done this without you guys to cheer me on and answer all my questions! THANK YOU ALL!!!

    6 month bandiversary photo

Thanks - ya'll are so sweet and make me feel good! Vickie - that top is either a 22/24 or 18/20 - Private message me your address and I'll send it to you! I got it at Lane Bryant and is is super cute. I only wore it twice. It can be like the LBT traveling pants - we'll send it on after we "under"grow it! Seriously I will send it to you if you give me your address. (just went and tried it on and it doesn't fit anymore - rather give it to you then Goodwill!)

Anyone used Dr. Maese for fills?

I really can't stand Dr Maese but I have to go to him b/c my insurance pays for it there b/c he has flouro. I am trying to find another place to get fills. I think he is arrogant, obnoxious - he lectures you if you arent losing weight as fast as other people, fills me up SO tight even though I told him and my band doc says I should get fills .2 ccs at a time. I could go on and on but basically I don't like him at all and he shares all your info - he lines the bandtsers up in the hallway like a herd of cattle and disucssed you weight with the other people! Anyways, I guess he charges 100 per fill for cash - I pay a 30 co-pay for my insuramce. Good luck!

    6 month bandiversary

It's my 6 month bandiversary. Everything is going well. I've lost exactly 40 lbs in 6 months, so I've lost 40 lbs in 30 weeks (or 1.3 lbs per week). Anyways, still got alot of work to do - need to eat better and exercise more but I'm happy to have 40 lbs gone forever and I feel better than I've felt in years!

    PS Pictures

could i be more jealous? you look SO great!
  12. If a word in the dictionary was misspelled, how would anyone know?
  13. everytime someone asks something like this on here it reminds me of this book my mom read (which was a true story) about some settlers from the Ukraine or something, and they made this pudding and it has all this thickner stuff in it, and the little girl went missing and they found her dead in the basement b/c she ate all the pudding and her stomach exploded. I hate to say it, but that would have been my life story if I was a little girl in the 1800's!!!!

Any of wish you had gotten RNY?

facts schamcts, studies schmudies, statistics schmatistics....... Sure I cared about all that before I got banded, but right now all I know is I know WAY TOO MANY RNY people that are packing back on the pounds. I really hope that this doesn't happen to bandsters once the band has been out awhile longer, but even if it does, at least I know I can get my band out and my stomach will still be the same. For me, re-routing my intestines just never was, has been, or will be any kind of option. Even if it had no death rate and no listed side effects, I'm just not ready to get cut up at this point in my life.

    Another Newbie Question

Also, fills and exersize make a difference. I could probably use a slight fill now but I hate the fill process so much that I keep putting it off. I also stopped exersizing and now have started again. Weigh loss stalls when your body catches on to what's up and you have to exersize or change what/when/how you eat to jump start it again.

    Isopure

I love Isopure vanilla!!! It's at GNC for $50 but my hubby said he saw it at smoothie factory for $37.
  18. Ok, so ever since I got banded my periods have been off schedule. I didn't have one for 3 1/2 months, then I bled for a weel, then like 2 weeks later I bled for like 3 weeks, then another month went by and not I'm having a period that seems to be on schedule (as in it's occuring one month from the last one) but all these periods have been SO SO SO heavy and SO much longer than pre-band (pre-band I was average flow for 4 days). So, what is going on? Is there still build-up from when I missed a few periods? I'm so tired of it! I've had this period for 5 days now and it is so heavy that it is waking me up in the middle of the night.

    Obesity and marriage problems

I also met my hubby when I had gone on zoloft and was at the lowest weight since high school. I kept packing on the pounds and he really didn't like it - some because of how I looked, but I think more so b/c of my bad attitude about myself. Anyways, he was pretty much supportive about the band and he says he loves me no matter what but I do know the excess weight bothers him. Anyways, our relationship is definatley better now, the sex is better, I feel better about myself, etc. I don't really know what to say about your situation except that I sympathize with you and I hope you all work it out. Counseling could help. If you can't work it out and you get a divorce, you'll survive just like the rest of 1/2 of America that's divorced. I think your main focus should be getting happy for yourself, whether that's with or without your hubby.
  20. I went to advancedpatientfinancing.com and they provided my info to several lenders and picked the best interest rate.

    Men - don't read, it's about my period :)

Also, while I'm bitching and moaning, I haven't lost any weight in like 4-5 weeks. Just thought I'd throw a complaint in there too!
  22. Does anyone else have depression spells? I had them all the time pre-band of course, b/c I was so unhappy with my weight, etc. But now I find that I have some that are just as bad. I guess it's because it's hard to have forked out 13 thousand dollars and not get instant results. I am so happy to be losing the weight, but in a society of instant gratification it's hard to be 5 1/2 months out and not anywhere near looking the way I want to. I dunno, guess I need to just snap out of it.

    depression after the band

thanks BOO, Im sure that is part of it - stress stress stress!
  24. I have been banded for 5 months and EVERYDAY I still have to force myself to slow it down when I eat, take small bites, etc. If it's been 5 months and I am still "retraining" my brain, then I am even more sure I couldn't have even begun to do that without the band.

    Putting off the surgery...

I weighed 145 before surgery and I'm 5'6. Anyways, give it one more try - why not. I just think it's ridiculous that some doctors think you could just diet - HELLO, if that was working we wouldn't be where we're at now! I'd like to see one bandster that didn't try dieting at least 50 times before getting surgery!
