Need AUGUST bypass buddies!

I am 64. I had lap band 6 1/2 yrs ago and went from 292 to 172. Then all the trouble started with pneumonias, etc. all the fluid came out of the band but the illnesses continued and worse. I am now 235 and 5' 4" . I know EXACTLY what you mean. Surgery and recovery don't worry me. Gaining all the weight back does !! Twice in my life I have lost over 100 lbs. and gained it back, or at least mist of it. I just can't go through that again. I am so proud if all of us. This is just a tool, we're told. If we stick together and use each other we CAN do it. I need to share tough times not just successes... Does anyone else have that "keep your troubles to yourself !" mantra from childhood? I have been eating like crazy like I'm about to head out on a death march .. This has got to stop. I have 1 week of preop diet. Surgery on the 20th. Thanks for listening! -

So very happy for you....I love the positivity!!! My date is Aug 20! I'd love to follow with you. I am definitely not in your age bracket, I'm 64, but much will be the same! I am also 64 and my revision (lap band to RNY) is also Aug. 20. I've been pretty cool up until now. I am getting anxious, eating too much….you? -
Top 10 things you want to be able to do after the surgery
Boppin' Bubbe replied to mal0712's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. Sit in a chair and not have it get up with me. 2. Get my knee replaced. 3. Ride a regular bike, not a 3 wheeler. 4. Shop in the regular department and get bargains! 5. No foot pain! 6. Walk and walk and walk. 7. Engage in active play with my grandchildren. 8. Feel better about myself. 9. No bouncing bottom when I walk or trot. 10. Controlling my food intake, not having it control me! -

Is it working for you
Boppin' Bubbe replied to dtrujillo67's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had lapband 7 years ago. After a year, I had severe GERD and had to have most of the Fluid taken out of the band. After 6 more years of severe GERD and finally a diagnosis of aspiration pneumonias and staph in the lungs, it was recommended by the head of the GI department at a large metropolitan hospital that I have a conversion to RNY bypass. I am still down about 65 pounds from the original 100 I lost with lap band. Insurance approved the surgery in 2 weeks so I guess there's no question that this is the fix! I meet with my surgeon (the same one that did the lap band) next week for pre-op appointment and surgery date. I am scared, elated, preocupied with bypass information. I am reading everything I can get my hands on. I devoured the Big Book of Gastric Bypass and am re-reading it, marking questions and thoughts to talk with the surgeon and the dietician about. Not sure how or why I missed Bariatric Pal before, but I need all the help I can get. I have great family support and a couple of friends/acquaintances who have had bypass surgery so I feel supported. I need to move on from the "deja vu all over again" feeling and know that this is procedure is way different. I would love to hear from anyone else who has had a conversion.
