    My big secret..

You don't have to tell anyone, but what a Christmas surprise! You have done the most beneficial thing for yourself and there is nothing to be ashamed of. I, though, have told everyone, as I think more people need to know about the sleeve...it is a wonderful thing! I think it would be cool to "let the cat out of the bag"...but you should when you feel the time is right. You know your family, and you can surmise how they will react...but I cannot imagine they will be so proud of you! Good luck, keep up the good losing! haha...Merry Christmas!

    I am 4 days post-op

Yes...hang in there! The holidays will be over by the weekend. Just know you've done the best thing for yourself and next year at this time, you will have a whole new anniversary and number to celebrate! You WILL be able to eat all the foods you like, but your sleeve will prevent you from eating too much...or even close to what you think you might have liked in the past! Your children are your children, as you once were...you are also helping them to see a healthy future by setting a new example of healthy eating...take care...get through this week....you'll be OK! I feel your pain, believe me. All of us who have been sleeved recently relate to what you are going through this week...
  3. Oh, trust me, BobbysWife, I don't purport to know a thing here...I only posted about the caffeine as it will be an issue for me! I was joking when I said "what hunger"... I look on here for everything and every answer...trust me!
  4. I think "woo woo" has the right idea...wait til the healing is complete! And, the comment about caffeine sparking hunger...hunger, what hunger?
  5. I asked my Dr. about caffeine...she says it is Ok, just don't put sugar and cream in it...definately check with your doctor, but I was stressing about it, and she said I should definately drink decaf presurgery, as the nurses in the hosp will only serve decaf at the hosp. But when it is time to start drinking warm...regular coffee is ok. Again, check with your doctor, as there is a debate as to whether caffein or decaf...some docs feel the research shows it can contribute to ulcers...

  9. Hello! I am scheduled December 15 for sleeve surgery and I can't wait! Anyone else in Colorado have a December date? Anyone with Kaiser? Would love to hear from you and keep up with each other on this journey! I started thinking about bypass surgery over a year ago, and was approved last fall...it took me until this past summer to actually "begin" the journey. I was afraid of surgery and afraid of all that would entail (with my entrails, haha). I finally got over the mental hurdle and planned my 6 week classes, only to miss 2 of them and have to start over. I started another 6 week class, and then realized I would miss the last class! My wonderful instructor, Janelle, promised I could go to another last class in order to finish and be ready for surgery before the end of the year. So...here I am...chomping (not on my 2 week pre-op diet yet, haha) and ready to go.

    could it get worse?

Sorry to hear you are going thru such hurdles...it is hard enough to decide to do this! I think you need to continue making phone calls, stay on the "3 month" diet, and all will work out. The key is not to give up. Call them every day if you have to!
  24. Hello...I am booked for Dec. 15th! Can't wait. Went back and forth over sleeve vs. bypass. Decided that I want to 'absorb' the nutrients, and less chance of ulcers. I am in Denver, going through Kaiser, with Dr. Bolanowski. What were your hesitations with bypass? Thanks, Cyndy
